Chapter 28

“What do you think, baby?”

His hands fingered the thin material of my nightgown, slipping down to my buttocks. I stayed calm and answered him seductively.

“I like this, Kaiser.”

He had just shown me what his spy network’s internal system had captured on Lenard Lee’s insidious activities. But it also shone the light on who he was. Kaiser Klef was no saint, either. Apart from the escort business disguised as a tax-paying legitimate entity involved in multi-level marketing, he also owned Kaiser Technologies, a company that had unknown dealings with secret societies while pretending to be in the information technology trade.

I wanted severely to be part of all this. Kaiser’s dark activities thrilled me. It made me feel alive and in awe of the power he had over Darkside and even the mafia world. But who was he kidding? Of course, to deal with secret societies, he had to be one of them himself!

“Piper, I know you want to get your revenge on Lenard Lee, but you have to be patient. Rome wasn’t built in one day.” He slithered his fingers along the front of my nightgown, teasing my buds from the outside.

“Only with the most well-thought plan can we eradicate him for once and for all,” he whispered, sliding under the silk and cupping my assets. I allowed him, calmly responding to him with my affirmative.

“Do you have a bone to pick with Lenard Lee, Kaiser?”

His eyes appeared to glow a bright red. “It’s a long story, Piper, and I don’t wish to speak about it now.”

His voice turned cold once more. I sensed something was not usual about him. Lenard must have done something inhumane to hurt him. My wild guesses ranged from stealing his woman to killing his family members.

His father was dead, wasn’t he? Did Lenard have something to do with Kaiser’s loss? And then, what about his lost brother?

Could this be all a conspiracy by Lenard Lee to expand his territories?

I never got an explanation for what happened in the last three years; why he provoked me those times. Or even why he ganged with the Thai gang to abduct me, when he could have done it all himself. This threat had to be eliminated so I could return to having a normal life.

But even if I did, after all the pains I went through, I knew I was fated to live and die alone. Syl’s transformation into a monster was just as fearsome as Lenard’s threats to me.

In the end, I didn’t know what my eventual destiny was.

When I walked in the next morning to the building, Sky walked in and told me something I wasn’t ready to hear.

“That client, he has been asking for you again.”

“Haven’t you got Shen to attend to him?” I tied my hair into a tight ponytail and pulled off my coat. Every single day of being an ‘executive’ in the office, I had to be mentally ready for the clients I would face.

My phone would flood with notifications of VIPs that had asked for me to provide them services. However, such appointment slots were limited to a maximum of two times per week, unless they upgraded their levels.

From what I understood, Syl had been upgrading his membership level by attempting to introduce more members under his line. That single week he had brought in thirty new members, receiving a reward of two hundred dollars and a few reward sessions with his assigned ‘executive’.

I checked my schedules every morning before heading to work. Syl didn’t know where I lived, as Jacques was particularly careful about nobody knowing of the apartment he owned. Because of this, Syl’s only resort was his attempt to find out my schedules. He had done so for two weeks, and Sky had reported to me the same.

As their senior, I had to be wary about showing any emotions towards the girls. My heart had hardened enough for me not to show any sympathy for Scarlet’s punishment, but I also had to ensure that her wounds healed well so that it didn’t affect her work performance. Like any company out there, we had KPIs to meet. Just because I was Kaiser’s woman didn’t negate me from my responsibilities.

I had a light breakfast before my first client came in for ‘services’. Not all clients were into penetration. Some preferred some roleplay with kinky actions such as touching or just oral as they had to go on with their busy lives. Because Kaiser didn’t just go for those renowned figures in Darkside, he even had white-collar workers and government officers. According to him, he wanted to make use of the connections with them, as they may even come in handy one day.

When I looked at my phone, there was a notification that popped up on my screen of a  message from Kaiser.

\[I’ll be going for a business seminar today. I’ll see you much later today.\]

I ignored the message and just put my phone in my bag and entered the room. The room I selected had a lighter backdrop and an invigorating fragrance. This member, an eighteen-year-old delinquent only wanted me to make a few lewd poses for an hour and expose myself to him in the most erotic positions.

“No photography,” I warned the youth, and he immediately put the phone away. I started with a few wild positions, removing an article of clothing in each pose.

I was down to my bra and panties when I hadn’t noticed the doorknob turn and into the room walked the person I didn’t want to see most.

“Are you blind? Can’t you see I’m attending to a client?”

He pointed to the young man and brandished a sharp knife in front of his eyes.

“Get out of here, kid!”

I glared at him when we were alone. Syl locked the door and put away the knife.

“What do you think you’re doing, disrupting my sessions and chasing away my VIP?” I yelled, but he pushed me towards the wall and halted my screams with a kiss.

My body tingled. Damn, I admitted that this bad boy version of Syl was a lot distinct from the kind-hearted doctor the old Piper had fallen in love with. I let him strip me, but when I felt his chest touch mine, I immediately jolted up in shock and pushed him aside.

“Get away from me.”

“Piper, is money all you care about?” He dropped a pile of notes on the desk. “I have more.”

“This should cover my losses from you chasing away that client,” I furrowed my brow, pocketing two thousand dollars, while ignoring the rest of the notes. “Can you leave now? I don’t want to see you.”

“What happened to us, Piper?” It was his turn to shout. He seized my chin and compelled me to face him.

“Stop this nonsense now.” I fought him, but he caged me against the wall and kicked off his pants. Tears welled in my eyes as he took me by force.

“Since you like it hard, let’s have it this way!” he yelled as he found his way painfully inside me. I kicked with my legs, but he was much bigger and more powerful than me.

“Stop this, Syl Silver!” I shouted at the top of my lungs. He ceased his conquest of me and released me suddenly, falling to the ground in shock. He went limp for a few seconds, before responding in a soft voice.

“Piper, I..”

“You jerk!” I held back my tears and kicked him between his legs. He doubled over in pain. I hurriedly dressed and dashed from the room.

The nearest toilet was my shelter. After ensuring nobody was in it, I bolted the door and cried uncontrollably.

I had never wanted him to see me like this, nor force himself on me. It broke the remaining bit of love I had for him in my heart. I thought of the dream I had last night.

It was too good to be true, but it was the best dream I had after the dream that Princess conjured up for me.

In my dreams, I sought Lee Jung for revenge, but seeing him in a debilitated state drove me to leave him to his own devices, deciding death was too easy on him.

I had then gone to take a peek at Syl, to find him sleeping soundly in his room. I also left him, since I had let go of the hope of ever reconciling with him.

Lastly, I charged my way into Lenard’s den and assassinated everyone I could find there. That left Lenard and his secret squad who didn’t appear to defend him yet, but was on the way. He had offered me a fantastic deal. One that I couldn’t say no to.

“Be my woman, Piper, and you will be the most powerful woman in the mafia world. Nobody will ever bully you or dare to hurt you. Because in this world, only the strongest survive. And you, Piper, can be the strongest.”

In my mind I told myself, I could always kill him when the time was ripe. And so I answered, “I accept your offer.”

The dream ended when I snapped my eyes open and realised everything had just been a dream. It was too good to be true. The reflection in the mirror revealed a weak woman with red and puffy eyes, too scared to even face her ex.

Because she couldn’t accept the villainess, she was turning out to be.

But now, I decided  I wouldn’t hide anymore.
