Chapter 29

Kaiser had fetched me, as promised. Instead of going to the condo, he brought me to the villa instead. Right now, I was living the life of a secret mistress of a CEO, a mafia leader, a criminal and a man of an unknown background.

In the daytime, I was his employee and served others with my body.

At night, I was his possession.

I thought again of the fool I had been once and cast aside my thoughts immediately. 

He led me to the jacuzzi and I took my clothes off, climbing into the water.

“Kaiser,” I mouthed his name, and fell into a deep silence. I didn’t know how I should initiate the conversation with him.

“I know.”

He was surprisingly calm. A devil had just came and f*cked his woman, despite him arranging Shen for him, and he was still this calm?

I felt the urge to sigh. 

“No matter how many women I arranged to satisfy him, he is still going for you, am I right?”

I nodded, unwilling to voice my opinion. Kaiser had pitched in much effort to hire some new underlings for me, all because he wanted to keep Syl at bay.

“I knew you and him were once lovers. But you are mine now,” he said sternly. “Should I teach him a lesson, so that he doesn’t touch what belongs to him?”

My heart was as hard as stone now. Those hurtful things my most beloved person had done to me just pushed me farther from him. Even if there was love between us once, he had r*ped me now and I just wanted him to keep his distance from me.

“I’m not the same girl who was stupidly in love with him before,” I admitted to him. “He was just a wrong choice. I hope I don’t have to explain what’s in the past, Kaiser.”

“You did deal him a very big blow today, right?”

I had kicked Syl where the sun doesn’t shine, with all my strength. I nodded assertively. “He’s gone haywire.”

“I won’t be lenient on him.” He entered the water and cupped my cheeks in his hands, staring at me intensely. “You’re mine and I hope you can remember that, Piper. Don’t push me to my limits.”

I straddled him and kissed him heartily. His hands wandered over my breasts, gripping them hard as if warning me of impending danger. I took the initiative to let him inside me, letting out my frustration through the rambunctious moans that followed as we moved in sync with each other.

“I’m all yours, Kaiser,” I expressed, and he answered me with deeper strokes that exhausted me throughout the night.

I thought that I was dead to feelings within me, but Kaiser seemed to be the one who ignited the fire deep within me. In the blink of an eye, it was six months that we started our clandestine relationship.

On the dresser in the bedroom, Jacques’ bear sat, looking lonely. My heart felt heavy as I contemplated Jacques’ life during this entire time. My guilt weighed heavily on my shoulders as I thought of our happy times in Thailand and our married life that lasted not even a year.

I couldn’t even remember the deed during the wedding night. Maybe my desire for revenge had masked the ability for me to have my true happiness. 

“He’ll find someone better,” my inner voice told me. But I had to find out for myself. I was tempted to switch on the laptop and check on my social media accounts for any news of the man. I closed my eyes and keyed in the password I had memorised of Piper Taylor’s mBook and mGram accounts.

Jacques’ icon remained a dark grey, and his last seen status was two years ago.

“Where have you been, Jacques? Why is there no news from you?”

Suddenly, a video popped up on my screen. It wasn’t from Jacques.

Sherry was still in my mBook account as a friend, and it was a video of the wedding she had two weeks ago. My eyes gleamed as I recalled in my mind the plans I had made, with the help of Kaiser’s contacts.

I picked up my phone and activated the application that I used to cloak my voice. Kaiser’s Thai contact was named Sud Lui, and Kaiser himself had advocated for the man as he was his classmate during secondary school.

Hearing the voice of a man's answer, I switched over to earphone mode and spoke with my camouflaged voice.

“Sawadikap.”

“Sud Lui? It’s me.”

“Yes, Madam. We have carried out your instructions.”

“It’ll look like nothing has happened, I hope?”

I had to sound as confident as I could manage to be.

“Yes, Madam. She’ll also have a tough time conceiving for some time after. We’ll make sure.”

I ended the call and tipped my head back, laughing evilly. My laughter was loud, but not ample to wake Kaiser from where he was sleeping in my room. 

Sud Lui had paid his contacts to spy on Sherry and during the wedding, one such person had reported seeing her having pregnancy symptoms. This he had later confirmed through one of her co-workers that she had been throwing positive pregnancy kits in the trash bins of the public toilets at work. 

A few pills would induce her cycles to return. Of course, she would have a check up, and this was where they would bribe her ob-gyn to make it look as if she had a chemical pregnancy.

And the difficult part was how they were going to inject a high dosage of contraceptive drugs into her to prevent her from falling pregnant. Such drugs were not harmful, and were commonly used among sex workers. 

“Are you happy, Piper?”

I turned around to see Kaiser moving towards me. I reckoned that since he had introduced Sud Lui to me, there were no secrets between us, so I came clean with everything that I had planned.

“And you want her to not get pregnant because?” He questioned in a low tone. I looked down at my lower abdomen, and he seemed to get the answer. He knew everything about me, even when I had not told him.

“Those contraceptives won’t work for long, and won’t cause her any misery,” he breathed in my ear. “I have a better idea, but it might be too much.”

My eyes widened. Since when did Kaiser know of these petty ways to hurt women? I decided I wanted to hear about his idea.

“Take action instead against the male,” his icy voice penetrated my ears. I moved my ear closer to him to listen to the plan.

I did not find it cruel at the least. 

“She will definitely ask him to go with her on a trip after finding out about her loss,” I replied to his question about her reaction to what I did. “It’s just a matter of when.”

“I also have friends in the airline business,” he added with a devious smile. “But you need to have a scapegoat for this merciless action, so that she won’t suspect you. Preferably, someone you hate.”

“I know who.”

“Excellent. Leave it up to me, Piper.”

I embraced him happily. In the beginning, I didn’t know what made him surprise me with a trip to the apartment, and then insist on having my cooked dinner. He even offered to help with the food preparations. I obliged him, but he was exhausted and took a nap in my room for a few hours.

I could not believe this was all happening to me, and that cold boss of mine was such an angel. Now he had even offered to exact ‘revenge’ on those who had hurt me.

I felt bad that we had even made love on Jacques’ bed, but it was a last-minute decision in the heat of the moment. He spent the night with me on the same bed, holding me in his arms like I was the most important woman in his life.

As happy as I was, I found it hard to fall into a deep slumber. My twists and turns were distracting him from getting a full night’s sleep. I heard his seductive voice as I lay in bed.

“Piper,” he said, “Who is the man in the framed picture right on the table near the entrance?”

I swallowed and braced myself for any possible anger from him.

“He.. He’s my ex, Jacques Jones. I mean, my ex owns this apartment, and I don’t have any other place to stay, so I borrowed…” I paused nervously.

Was he going to slap me or say something harsh? My heart beat hard while I waited for a response.

Instead, he yawned. “It’s a long day, Piper, so why don’t you get some sleep?”

And that was it? He had gone back to sleep?

He didn’t get jealous or ask if I had any communication with my ex?

I reached for my phone on the bedside table and turned on the torch with my trembling fingers, shining it towards his face.

Indeed, he was asleep.

Kaiser was an unusual man indeed.
