Chapter 18: DATE EXCITEMENT

Audrey"s phone lit up in class and when she saw the name of the sender, she was quick to open the text.
Dmitri: Hello Ma"am. This is Dr. Dmitri from the Town Hospital this side. I believe you have an appointment with me at six.
Audrey"s heart sank when she saw the message. He had not texted her. It was a message meant for someone else ! Maybe a patient with the same or similar name as Audrey"s and Dmitri sent it to her by mistake.
Audrey: I am sorry but wrong chat, Dr. Dmitri.
Dmitri: Oh, I don"t think so, M"Lady.
Audrey re-read Dmitri"s message five times before she finally understood what he was getting at !
Dmitri was asking her to go out with him !!
Audrey quickly texted Rachel.

Audrey: He just asked me out ! Is it to just hang out or a date ?
Rachel: Oh my god, oh my god, oh my god !!
Audrey: I still don"t know which it is. Please specify.
Rachel: It"s a date, silly !
Audrey: I am still not sure. Let me ask.
Dmitri waited with bated breath on the other side, his hands itching to press on the call button and put him out of his misery.
However, just when he felt his patience snap, Audrey texted back.
Audrey: To hangout or more like a date ?
This silly, innocent girl, Dmitri mused with a shake of his head and quickly texted back before his 1 o"clock came knocking in. Guess they both were being too cautious around each other. It was clear to Dmitri that Audrey was at the same place as him in this relationship and thank good that he had gathered his guts to ask her out.
Dmitri: Audrey Blaydes. Will you go out on a date with me ?
Audrey"s heart skipped a beat and she stifled a cry of joy somehow but one stern look from her professor told that she had not been really successful.
Before she could reply, another message from Dmitri popped up. A giggle escaped Audrey"s lips when she saw it and then murmured a quick apology towards her teacher after feigning a coughing fit.
Dmitri: Yes or yes ?
Audrey: You almost got me into trouble in class ! I can"t stop laughing !! By the way, do you ask all girls on a date with such interesting options or am I the lucky one.
Dmitri: I ask all girls the same thing AND you are the lucky one.
Fear clawed in Dmitri"s gut when Audrey stopped typing and he felt that she might not have understood his text. However, he had underestimated her because she couldn"t wrap her head around the fact that she was his first date too !!
Audrey"s jaw was left hanging open and she couldn"t help herself from typing back.
Audrey: Please tell me a handsome and accomplished doctor like you is not going on a first date !
Dmitri: How many dates have you gone to ?
Audrey: I will be going to my first at six today !
Dmitri: No way ! A beautiful and smart lady like you is going on her first date !! By the way, I am taking that as a yes !
Audrey: Haha. Of course, it is a yes ! With the options that you gave, it was not hard to choose. And I understand your point of view now. Guess we are going to be each other"s first dates !!
Dmitri"s patient walked in just when he hit the send button.
Dmitri: Glad to hear. I will be waiting for you at the table at six, love.
When Audrey saw the last word, she couldn"t help her internal self from gushing at the L-word. She was now double excited- one for the date and the other for her nickname !
Audrey quickly texted Rachel.
Audrey: You were right. We have an emergency. My house, my room. ASAP after college. Bring your weapons.

When Rachel checked in Audrey's room, the latter had her entire closet out on the bed, trying to pick an outfit.
Rachel had come with her "weapons" aka her make-up kit and curlers right after her classes ended.
However, to her utter surprise, on top of the mountain of clothes sat Audrey, cross-legged with her back facing the door and giggling at something in her phone.
Rachel crept behind her shoulder and saw Dmitri"s message.
Dmitri: "Don't be late or else you will find me in sweats !"
"You should be getting ready instead of giggling at the hot doc"s texts," Rachel suddenly said and spooked Audrey who squealed out loud before her mobile jumped out of her hands and she tumbled down the clothes hill and onto her bed !
"Jesus H. Christ ! You spooked me !!" Audrey squeaked. "Give a warning next time, will you ?" she added, her hand still on her chest.
Rachel chuckled and led Audrey out of her bed.
"Alright sissy. Now hop on the chair and let me work my magic on you !" Rachel said as she directed Audrey in front of the mirror, crunched her fingers and craned her neck side by side before curlers, mud packs and cucumbers made their way to the right places !
