Chapter 58 BONUS CHAPTER #2

"Time is not my friend," the CFO of the Emerson Group, Sarah murmured when she finally looked up at the clock. It was nearing midnight already and she still had one last file to review.
She noticed that the office was almost dark, indicating that everyone had gone home, save for one person and that was the CEO- Alex Emerson !
That vain and haughty man, Sarah scoffed as she laboured over the file.
"But you love him," her subconscious teased.
Unfortunately, she did and couldn"t help but think why had her stupid heart fallen for someone as rotten as Alex.
"Because he saved you from the bullies at school once," her mind taunted her with a peek of that memory when Sarah had started to fall for her "hero".
"And turned into my personal bully himself ! He is more like a monster now !!" She fought back against her own heart and mind.
While Sarah had an internal debate on Alex"s character and her unrequited love for him, she did not notice when the door had opened and a sharply dressed, handsome man stood there, fascinated at the sight of his pretty girl buried nose deep in the last file, out of a library of them.
His parents were right. He could never get a better CFO than this diligent and highly qualified girl.
However, he could not help but get on her nerves whenever the opportunity presented itself. It felt like it was the only way to gain her attention, away from her books and papers !
And hence, he had got on his crush"s bad side, although he thought she looked adorably cute when she scrunched her face in annoyance whenever she noticed his presence.
A long time passed by, as Alex looked at Sarah fascinated, her long eyelashes hiding her downcast eyes and red, plump kissable lips murmuring figures while she calculated in her head.
However, when the clock moved dangerously close to midnight, Alex decided it was time to send the hardworking CFO back home.
"What are you doing here so late, squirt ?"
Sarah squeaked as she jumped in her seat when she heard his deep, low rumble out of nowhere.
"Jesus H. Christ ! You scared me !!"
"Well, you always scare me so ... " Alex nonchalantly shrugged and left the self-explanatory, last phrase unsaid.
Sarah could feel smoke release out of her nose and ears.
Did he just call me scary ? Sarah thought and fumed. He is the one who should be the poster man for scariest Halloween ! This infuriating man ! Argh !!
"Do you want anything, Sir ?" She chose to be polite and professional especially when she was talking to her boss and not only to the son of her parents" friends.
"You should not stay here till such an ungodly hour. It is not safe for you. Tonight I am here but what if some- .... "
"It is ok, Sir. I do this almost daily yet I live. Work is more important," Sarah brushed off Alex"s fears.
Blame it on the late hour or a stressful day, the usually cool Alex lost his cool when he heard her address her safety with no concern or emotion whatsoever. All he could see was red.
"You should not stay back here so late. It is unsafe and unnecessary. I pay you only for your day job, not your night job," Alex angrily said, making sure to use his nastiest tone that Sarah hated so much.
If Alex saw red, then Sarah saw dark red.
"Ok, Sir. I will keep that in mind," Sarah gritted out somehow. "If you don't have anything else to say, then I will continue my work. You will find all the reports on the desk by tomorrow morning. Good Night, Sir !"
The dismissive tone in Sarah"s words did not sit well with Alex and before she knew it, the file was effortlessly snatched from her fingers and thrown away by a fuming Alex.
"What the- .... " Sarah cut herself short as she reminded herself where she stood. Instead, she got out of her chair and went to pick up the file.
"I dare you to pick up that file, Sarah," Alex growled out.
Keeping an unwavering eye contact with the boss, Sarah slowly bent towards the file.
Alex's dangerous eyes swarming with unlimited fury, warned her silently to not disobey them.
However, the young girl was no less than a tigress and defied him whenever the opportunity presented itself.
Just when her fingers wrapped around the file, she suddenly found herself pinned against the wall by hot muscle.
"This is my den, Ms. Sarah. Don't get on my nerves than you already are," strong words came out of clenched teeth.
Suddenly, fear and panic overpowered Sarah's senses and a choked sob burst out of her lips when she felt herself swirling in the same position as the horrible nightmare of getting bullied at school. The trigger was too much for her.
"I am sorry, Sir. I am sorry," Sarah kept chanting while Alex's eyes widened and he immediately enveloped the young woman in his comforting embrace when he realized what she was going through.
"No, no. Shush, love. I am sorry. I am a demon. I shouldn't have done that,"Alex comforted as he held her tight and rubbed her back.
Sobs soon turned into hiccups but Alex kept Sarah where she was meant to be- close to his heart.
Unknowingly, Alex kept kissing away her tears as if it was the most natural thing to do while Sarah stood rooted in shock.
"Please don't cry, little Sarah," Alex called her by the fond name he used when they were children. "I am an idiot," he added.
"I uh .... should go home," Sarah finally found her voice and tried to pull back from Alex.
However, Alex kept her close to himself and whispered in her ear, "I will take you home, don't worry but right now I want my share of hugs after a tiring day," Alex childishly quoted her, bringing back the memory when little Sarah had demanded her mother to keep hugging her after she fell but Isabelle had been called for an emergency so Alex had stepped into Isabelle"s shoes and coaxed little, hurt Sarah to stop crying. Only when she got her "share of hugs" and her boo-boo kissed did she finally smile at him.
"You remember !" Sarah gasped.
"Of course I do !! I fell in love with you since then," Alex accidentally slipped out the truth.
Inwardly, he was face-palming himself so hard once the words were out.
"What ?!" Sarah gasped, successfully pulling out of Alex's embrace this time. "You love me ? Like "wanna date you" love me ?"
"Oh god," Alex murmured as he closed his eyes while pinching the bridge of his nose- something that Sarah noticed he did when he was stressed.
"Hey," Sarah softly said as she cupped a hand around his cheek and forced the six feet man of pure gorgeousness to look down at her.
Alex slowly opened his eyes and looked down at Sarah with a soft expression that she had not seen on him for a long time.
"Why didn't you tell me before ?" Sarah asked and when Alex chose to stay mum, she continued after she realized that the stupid boy only troubled her to get her attention ! "You b*stard ! I loved and hated you for so long and you couldn't even tell me !!" Sarah screamed as the unaudited file was put to good use to thrash Alex.
"Alright, alright, I am sorry !" Alex whined as he tried to evade the rogue file.
"Sorry is not going to cut it, Mr. Alex Emerson !" Little Sarah shouted. She was sure she almost burst a kidney. "You better make up to me a wonderful date or else I will dump your sorry ass so bad !!"
"Hold up ?!" Alex perked. "You still want to date me ?"
"You are so dense, Emerson boy," Sarah snorted as she picked up her bag and cleared away her table. "I have been in love with the hero who saved me in school !!"
"And you thought that confessing this was the right thing to do when it is past midnight and you have to get home ?" Alex bellowed.
"How is it related ?" Sarah asked as she scrunched her face just like Alex loved.
"Because then I won't get to do this for long !" Alex tersely explained before his lips went crashing on hers.
