32.

“No no no NO!”

Gazing at the angrily glowing mark on my wrist, I tightly wrapped my hand around it, feeling hot tears threatening to spill all over my cheeks as with wide eyes I looked back at Rem, my breaths coming out so shallow and uneven.

“No...” My voice came out so raspy and weak, my lips lightly quivering as tears finally made their way down my face, and without another word I bolted outside that damned bathroom, not even caring that I was practically half-naked and probably covered in blood stains, like a human stranded in the desert running so fast down the hallway and upstairs to the higher floor, straight towards my ever only source of water.

Quickly reaching the door, my heart pounded so wildly inside my chest as I violently barged inside, finally allowing myself to stop as those beautiful midnight eyes found mine.

Only the moment I took a better look at him, my knees buckled from underneath me, roughly collapsing on the carpeted floor with a dull thud.

There he was, the other half of my soul, visibly tortured by pure, unadulterated pain as his fist clutched so tightly against the flimsy shirt, seemingly struggling to regain his composure, judging by his crouched posture on the carpeted floor and the way his other hand firmly wrapped around the bed’s white-painted metal frame, not failing to also notice the way it was now visibly bent, no doubt from all that brute force he had just exerted on it.

Letting out a shaky breath, a single tear slipped down my cheek as I momentarily felt at loss for words, with wide eyes staring at him as he roughly forced himself up to his feet and before I could even blink a second time he stormed right past me, hastily exiting the room.

“No...” I blinked a few times as realization quickly dawned upon me, feeling my heart starting to pump with adrenaline so fast as without a second thought, I got up and ran after him.

“No! Azrael stop!”

“Azrael please stop!”

I crazily ran after him, with every passing second feeling even more and more panicked as with every thundering step the root of my fear grew even stronger and stronger, until he finally barged inside that room.

One sharp intake of breath. That’s all I managed to do before hell broke loose.

A loud, thundering noise rumbled throughout the entire house, feeling the ground lightly quiver underneath me as with a forceful blow they both flew right outside, also taking a very large chunk of wall with them.

“Shit!”

“AZRAEL STOP!” I desperately screamed after him, taking a few quick steps towards the now entirely missing balcony and took a look down into our backyard, shocked to notice the majestic beast stand in an openly aggressive position right in front the mighty archangel. And like two powerful titans they violently clashed against each other, their grunts and growls resonating in the quickly growing darkness.

“Please...”

More tears streamed down my cheeks as I watched them so fiercely battle, determined to stop them somehow as I turned around, taking the longer route outside since I obviously couldn’t follow their tracks and simply jump through that freaking giant hole in the wall.

Heated from all that running through the house, the chilly air failed to reach me as I’ve finally stepped outside, quickly taking in the horrendous scene before me.

Blow after blow, scratch after scratch they threw themselves at each other like two blood-lusting savages, relentlessly attacking each other as I widely watched the entire scene, small sobs escaping my quivering lips, for the first time in a while feeling so...lost.

“No...”

A cold shiver slowly crept up my spine as the freezing air finally crawled its way into my system, only to suddenly feel the comforting warmth of muscled arms wrap around my still half-naked body.

“Blake! What the hell happened?” My brother’s unmistakable voice reached my ears, mere seconds before swiftly turning my trembling body around to face him. I barely managed to lift my gaze to look into his warm honey pools before he quickly removed his dark colored sweater, dragging it over my head to shield me from the cold, now standing in front of me with only a flimsy tank top covering his torso, seemingly completely unaffected by the chilly weather.

Perks of being an immortal...

“Blake! What’s going on?” My gaze quickly refocused back on his visibly distressed features, blinking back the tears still pooling in my eyes, moments before slowly averting my gaze back to the fighting gods, my voice coming out so raspy and weak as the words finally came out,

“The Sin...It was the Sin...”
