Chapter 20

We went in and checked with the security as tourists who just visited Austria, and we're making stops at their list of amazing attractions.
The Hofburg was our first stop and we asked for a tour guide around the Palace museum, we needed to move forward we were running out of time.
Mara spoke to the tour guide, a man who wasn't well-read in his English but was clear enough for Mara to communicate, we as demons had the gift of speaking and understanding all human languages.
"Hello, my name is Martin," he said in his German accent "and welcome to one of Austria's finest places, the Hofburg Palace, it has served as a Museum for various artefacts and relics over time, I am not going to bore you with history let's get down to the tour, do you want a general tour or is there a specific reason you are here?" Martin asked.
"We are here for the Holy Lance," Mara said
"Oh the Spear of Destiny, well you are in luck, as many will say they have the authentic Lance but I tell you with a hundred and four percent of truth that ours is the real deal," Martin said and we followed closely behind.
Soon we were at a point in the palace and Martin pointed, "look over there, you can see the Lance, left of the crucifix".
We saw a glass case which held a big gold crucifix, which stood erect and on its left hand a smaller crucifix which laid beside it and on its right the price, the reason we were there, the Holy Lance.
Martin began talking again
"The piercing of Christ’s side during the Crucifixion is relayed in the Gospel According to John 19:33–34, “But when they came to Jesus and saw that he was already dead, they did not break his legs. Instead, one of the soldiers pierced his side with a spear, and at once blood and water came out.” This final wound to Jesus’ body is the fifth of the Five Holy Wounds of his Passion, and the soldier has traditionally been identified as St. Longinus. According to Christian legend, Longinus suffered from an eye malady and was miraculously healed by the water and blood that fell from Jesus’ side when he pierced the body. He is usually identified as the converted centurion in Mark 15:39 who stated, “Truly this man was God’s Son!”
There are a number of traditions about the subsequent history of Longinus’s spear or lance, and it has long been attributed with supernatural powers. It was believed that whoever possessed it held the destiny of the world, for good or evil. Conflicting accounts trace its history to various saints or rulers, and its fame during medieval times was not unlike that of the Holy Grail.
And the first actual account of Lance's authenticity was to a man named Peter Bartholomew, who was eventually discredited.
Peter was a peasant who claimed that St. Andrew had appeared to him in a series of visions and revealed the location of the lance. He informed the leaders of the First Crusade of his visions, and, though Bishop Adhémar of Le Puy was sceptical of their authenticity, Count Raymond of Toulouse was impressed and commanded that a solemn search be conducted for the lance. Peter led them to the Cathedral of St. Peter in Antioch and indicated where the lance would be located. After a day of fruitless digging, he leapt into the hole and produced a piece of iron that was assumed to be the relic. Most of the Crusaders accepted its authenticity and carried the lance with them into battle against the Muslims.
After the recovery of the lance, Peter claimed that St. Andrew reappeared to him at various times, giving him instructions for the prosecution of the Crusade. With the proliferation of Peter’s visions and his attacks on the memory of Bishop Adhémar (died 1098)—who had never believed Peter’s claims—people began to doubt the visions and challenged the authenticity of the Holy Lance.
When Peter submitted himself to an ordeal by fire to test the validity of his claims, he was fatally burned, and the Holy Lance was discredited. Raymond of Toulouse’s prestige suffered as a consequence of his acceptance of Peter’s visions".
While Martin was talking, Asmodeus was hatching up a plan on how we would make it out with the Lance.
He was aware that if the Lance was actually the real deal, it was going to hurt him greatly and maybe me if Micheal was wrong about me, so we needed something to hold it with, almost immediately he spotted a mini paper box used in holding Donuts in the trash.
Then he walked up to Martin and whispered something in his ears, immediately his eyes turned pure black the same way Mara's own did and soon he was hypnotized.
Asmodeus clicked his fingers and the lights in the Palace all went off and immediately the alarms and the backup lights came off but the only thing the security and the other workers found at the spot was a sleeping Martin, who had passed out, and nobody realized that the Lance was gone, the alarm in the box didn't go off and no one bothered to check.
A vortex opened and we were in an ally somewhere in Vienna, Asmodeus, Mara and I, this was the time we had to discover if the Lance was real or not.
Asmodeus placed the doughnut box in the middle and we all stood around it, Mara opened the box and took out the Lance.
"Be careful with that" Asmodeus said, "if it's the real deal it could hurt us" he added.
It was just the head of the Spear, no stick or frame except a golden metal wrapped around it.
As I walked up to it, I felt a little surge of power and I hoped it was the thing we were after and I also hoped Micheal was right.
As I held it, my eyes glowed and the Lance shone, it was sending some sort of wave around us and we were certain we had it all and we decided to return.
Asmodeus opened a vortex that led all three of us to Mara's house back in Israel, and Uncle tried to remove the hypnosis from Mara, but he was stopped by her and she said
"Hello Asmodeus, and the famous Damien who refused to be the great Antichrist"
Asmodeus and I were shocked at the unfolding of events, then she continued
"You didn't really think you were in control of my mind did you?" She asked
"Who are you" Asmodeus inquired
"Think, apart from the hosts of hell, heaven and the spirits in purgatory which other beings can't you mind control," Mara asked.
"You are a medium," Asmodeus said.
"Yes I am, I am Jacob's sister and she asked me to aid you guys when you get here," Mara said, still in shock, I walked up to Mara and shook her hands and said
"Welcome to the team"
"There is no time we need to get back to Jacob to ascertain if the Lance in our possession was the real thing," Mara said.
"You don't think it's real? You just saw what it did when I held it" I said
"Religious relics that are believed to have power most times actually have powers, but not the power you think," Mara said.
"Do you mean this Lance could actually have some powers but not the kind to kill Lucifer?" I asked.
"That's correct, it might have powers put in there by any spirit, angel or demon, it could have its powers from Lucifer himself," Mara said.
"So how are we going to figure out if this is real or not," Asmodeus asked.
"Jacob and I have our ways around religious relics and knowing their roots and origins, and we are pretty badass at it," Mara said with a smirk.
"Can we sleep and leave tomorrow, I am tired from all the energy and power?" I said.
"Fine by me too, I am famished," Mara said
"Who guys better eat then, I am stepping out for a walk," Asmodeus said.
"Okay I am ordering pizza, should we keep a little for you?" Mara asked him
"Sure," Asmodeus said as he put on his jacket and closed the door behind him.
