Chapter 36

We had left Mary at the Church in Minnesota, Leviathan opened a vortex and we were at Jacob's.
We meet with Jacob and Mara, but Asmodeus was absent
"Where is Uncle", I asked
"He couldn't wait anymore, he had to leave," Mara said while breaking away from the hug he gave me
"But he left a note for you on the table" Jacob pointed at the table without even turning to look at me or the visitor I brought along, he just focused on the portions he was mixing.
"Well who do we have here," Mara said referring to my father Leviathan
"That's my dad" I casually said as I was headed to go get the note Asmodeus left for me
"Hi, I am Leviathan, Damien's dad," he said as he held out his hands for Mara to shake
She took the hands quite alright and shook them and made a joke "so you made this big bunch of big trouble" she said as she gave me a side-eye and I returned it with a funny look and she laughed at her own joke.
Leviathan just smiled then said "Hello, Jacob, it's been a while" now Jacob had turned to realize who was with us, walked up to him and gave him a big hug
"Nice to see you again, you look like you are growing younger," Jacob said that as a joke he knew, Demons don't age the only control how they look if they want to look older or younger.
While the three chattered away, I took the note Asmodeus left and it said
"My dear Damien, I have to leave, I have a job to do, my neglect will leave Heaven, Earth and Hell at a great unbalance, I know your father is there with you, I trust he is in good hands while I am off, just give him a chance, see you soon, as fast as I can. Much love from your uncle Asmodeus".
Later on, Leviathan and Mara, were at the eating table, planning on our next move on the Lance, I went to meet Jacob where he was busy with herbs and other stuff and asked
"Is there a way a demon can get atonement from God, like get forgiveness and be restored to angelic glory?".
Jacob gave me a look that said he wasn't expecting such a question, he dropped what he was doing and turned to face me
"Let me tell you a story about my ancestor, the first Medium and the first attempt at demonic atonement," He said.
"After the rebellion of angels fell, some realized their mistake and sought and attempt to ask for forgiveness and return to their Heavenly Father, so they approach Enoch, the only man who stayed loyal to God at that time, God's friend and confidant
He tells him about the judgment which God has planned. All of these fallen angels are seized with great fear and beg Enoch to write out a prayer of forgiveness to the Lord of Heaven. Enoch intends to do this, so he sits by the waters of Dan near Mount Hermon, where the fallen angels first descended to earth. Dan is an ancient city at the headwaters of the Jordan near Mount Hermon. Enoch falls asleep and has a dream. After he awakens, he finds the fallen angels at Lesya’el still weeping and covering their faces. He relates to the details of his dream, which contains “words of righteousness,” in fact, a reprimand to the Fallen angels.
Enoch tells the fallen angels their prayers have not been heard and they will be punished for all eternity. He is caught up in clouds and fog where he sees a “great house” surrounded by “tongues of fire.” The great house is described as built of white marble and lined with mosaics, with a crystal-like floor. There are fiery cherubim guarding the gates, which are also of fire. Enoch is terrified by this vision and he shakes and trembles greatly.
When he sees inside the house, he sees a great throne with “the Great Glory” sitting upon it. The imagery in this section is obviously drawn from several throne visions in the Old Testament, primarily Isaiah 6 and Ezekiel 1. Revelation 4 is likely influenced by the descriptions of the throne of God in Isaiah and Ezekiel rather than 1 Enoch, but they are all similar enough to think of these throne room scenes as well-known heavenly images.
Just as in Isaiah and Ezekiel, Enoch is unable to stand when he sees this vision of the throne, and he prostrates himself before the throne. The Lord calls him near and then lifts him into the gate (although Enoch continues to lower his eyes). Revelation 4-5 is also heavily dependent on the throne vision of Ezekiel and to a lesser extent Isaiah. There are significant differences in Revelation with respect to the details of the imagery. While in Enoch's view the whole heavenly environment is described, in Revelation the throne is of primary importance.
God speaks to Enoch, although God is really addressing the fallen angels who have left heaven. Presumably this is what Enoch related to them when he met them at Lesya’el in chapter 13. These angels will be judged because they abandoned their place, waged war against heaven and took human wives. Their children, the giants, will become evil spirits on the earth because they have a spiritual foundation. These spirits will continue to be corrupt until the “consummation of the great age” when “everything is concluded.”
This probably does not mean the “end of the world” but rather the end of the present age and the beginning of the next. The fallen angels are told that they did not know all of the mysteries of Heaven. Because they have “broadcast” the mysteries they did know to the women of earth, they will have no peace.
Enoch’s call up to heaven to be given a mystery to relate to those about to be judged is a motif which resonates with the general outline of the Book of Revelation. In his vision, John also sees the heavenly throne room and sees the judgments to come. He too relates them to his readers so that they are prepared. In both 1 Enoch and Revelation, there is no “end of the world,” but rather a restoration of the world to the original creation as God had designed it in the first place.
And ever since Enoch's attempt then, nobody has attempted again for fear of what the Heavenly father might meet out to them if they do"
This was sad, and it explained why even though Leviathan and Asmodeus felt like they messed up they couldn't get redemption, I wondered why they joined Lucifer in the first place, I would have to ask them, but that was a conversation for another day.
We now were focused on the tasks at hand but first, we needed to know more about our next mission but this place I haven't even heard about it and Mara took the floor to explain the place and its relationship to the Lance, especially to the newbie of the group, my dad Leviathan.
Vagharshapat (Valarsapat), located some 20 km west of modern Yerevan, was an ancient city in Armenia founded in the 2nd century CE. Serving as the capital, the city prospered and, under the new name of Echmiadzin, became the spiritual capital of Christian Armenia from the 4th century CE. Still, an important pilgrimage site today, the building of the cathedral at Vagharshapat is attributed to Saint Gregory the Illuminator who was, in a vision, instructed by Christ to build it thereafter he descended and struck the ground at the very spot.
It is believed that a Holy Lance is kept in Vagharshapat (now known as Echmiadzin), the religious capital and the holy centre of Armenia. Some time ago it was held in the monastery of Geghard.
The history goes back to a thirteenth-century Armenian manuscript text of Holy Relics of Our Lord Jesus Christ. This text states that the holy spear was brought to Armenia by the Apostle Thaddeus. On November 30, the Armenian Apostolic Church celebrates the “Feast of the Apostles St. Thaddeus and St. Bartholomew”. This is an amazing chance to see the Holy Spear from Geghard which is taken to the Mother Cathedral in Echmiadzin. During the celebration of the Divine Liturgy, people have the opportunity to kiss it and get blessings from the Spear. The Holy Spear will remain in the Cathedral until late evening.
