Chapter 77 – An angry Teacher

In the main room, the Principal was seated at his table, with Muse Sirel to his left. He clapped his hands to call for attention and said, “It has come to my attention that a certain student has poisoned one of my Teachers two times already. I need to warn everyone that this is a very serious matter. My Teachers are not here to be bullied. They are here to teach you, and you would be wise to respect them if you intend to graduate.”

Chujitsuna sighed, and she slithered to the middle of the room, standing there in the space between the tables with her arms crossed.

She faced the serious Principal and said, “Teacher Muse got angry with what happened in the morning during the unarmed class, and said that she was going to punish us during the armed fights against her. I don’t know about you, Principal, but the only ones that have any right to punish me are my parents. I also know that Dwarfs are vindictive, and some people say that they are even worse than Snake-kind in that aspect. Well, I don’t want to spend the rest of the year looking over my shoulder because of her, so I guess we have a problem here. I defeated her fair and square during the armed fights, and she didn’t like that. She came to me before lunch, and I felt in danger, so I put her to sleep. I will keep on putting her to sleep if I feel threatened. So, you either put her on a leash, or one of these days I might choose the wrong dagger and use a deadly Poison instead of a Sleeping Potion on her.”

Before the Principal could say anything, Muse Sirel grabbed a knife, jumped over the table, and ran straight at the slightly annoyed Snake-kind girl. When she got close enough, she found herself wrapped around Chujitsuna’s lower half, unable to move a finger.

Chujitsuna squeezed a little and faced the Principal with her arms still crossed, and asked, “See what I mean? She holds grudges. Now, what do you suggest I do? If I let her go, she will try to attack me. If I squeeze her long enough, she will faint, and when she wakes up, she will come at me again. I don’t want to disrespect the Teachers, Principal, but this crazy lady doesn’t play with all her marbles. I was just talking with you, and she attacked me. If it was the other way around, I guess you would either expel me or send me home for a few days. So, in this situation, what will happen?”

The Principal slowly shook his head. “You failed to realize that even if Muse overreacted in the morning and right now, it was also a teaching lesson for you. You might one day have to deal with someone that reacts like her, so I guess that even if you didn’t realize it, she gave you a lesson on how to deal with her or someone like her. But I see your point, and I think we can do something about it. Let her go. I will take it from here.”

Chujitsuna carefully put the angry woman on the floor while staring at her and watching her movements. Muse frowned and looked at the Principal.

He stared at her for a few seconds, and then said, “Muse, you were way out of line. Take a deep breath and sit in your chair.”

“I was out of line? She poisoned me! Twice! And in the morning, she only hit me because I was distracted!”

Chujitsuna tilted her head and asked, “What are you saying, that I wouldn’t be able to beat you if you were expecting me? If I recall correctly, you were telling me to approach you to fight, and you seemed ready. It’s not my fault if you didn’t notice that I threw a dagger at you while I was going to the forest. I did everything like Teacher Egar advised us. Look for an opening or analyze your fight pattern. I saw an opening, and I took it. But if you still think the fight wasn’t fair, we can try again tomorrow morning and find out. You will end up sleeping on the floor again, anyway.”

Muse Sirel turned around to face the smirking girl and warned her, “You have no idea who you are messing with, kid…”

“No, it is you who doesn’t know, but you will find out, don’t worry. There are a few things about me that you have no idea about, but I will tell you when you wake up tomorrow.”

Chujitsuna then spoke without averting her eyes from the angry Teacher. “Principal, maybe it would be better if we fought again tomorrow, considering she thinks the fight this morning wasn’t fair. It will be like you said, a learning opportunity for me, but also for her and the other Teachers because I think they fail to realize that we might be students, but most of us have been training all our lives to get here. I like to have fun and joke around, but it would be better for your future of living citizens if you all remembered that I am a Snake-kind and the only daughter of Innar and Hariruta Hito. While my father is very calm and wise, my mother is not, and if it was her that Teacher Muse tried to attack like she did to me moments ago, she would be dead by now, because even as a student, my mother was never known for being a kind and peaceful student. If I am pushed the wrong way, I might forget my father’s teachings and do like my mother.”

The Principal gulped. He suddenly remembered that Hariruta Hito almost killed him on several occasions and that it always happened when he argued with her.

He cleared his throat, and spoke, “Aham!… Well, I think that is a good idea. Teacher Muse, what is your schedule for tomorrow morning?”

“Theory about Monsters, but I can delay that to another day. I would love to get a chance to teach this dumb kid a lesson or two.”

“Muse, you are underestimating her… You shouldn’t do that, because you will let your guard down.”

Muse Sirel snorted and went to her chair, leaving Chujitsuna behind, who was frowning at her. She went to join the others at their table, and Nozomu shook his head.

She slapped the back of his neck and asked, “What? Should I have let her hit me? Fat chance!”

“You got lucky this morning, Chuji, but you won’t be that lucky tomorrow morning.”

“You are confusing skill with luck, Nozomu. Did you ever try to throw a small dagger at such a speed that your opponent didn’t even see it, and I might add, while running at full speed? Never, right? Well, I can hit you twenty times, even before you realize what happened, and with my eyes closed. I am that good.”

Nozomu spoke while rubbing his neck, “You know, I like you more when you are fooling around. This serious character of yours is weird.”

“Yeah, sorry about that, but I tend to be horrible when I am pissed, and that half-person annoyed the heck out of me!”

“Half-person? That sounds like a very serious insult.”

“Actually, it is. Darn it, my uncle would kill me if he heard me saying that! Lucky for me, he is not here!”

Nozomu asked while munching a piece of bread, “Your uncle is a Snake-kind or Human?”

Chujitsuna glanced around to check if someone was hearing them, and answered in a low voice, “Neither. He is a Dwarf and the one that taught me how to fight like one. It’s better if none of you babbles about this. That crazy woman is up for a surprise tomorrow!”

“Really? How did that happen? He married a Snake-kind?”

“No, a Human, my father’s younger sister. He used to be a criminal in the Empire, but he fled when they wanted to imprison him for life. He told me he spent more time in prison than as a free man, and it was there that he learned how to fight.”

Robert Keskula made a slight smile and said, “So that is why you sounded so confident. Nevertheless, you should be careful tomorrow. Teacher Muse has the reputation of being the best fighting Teacher in years.”

Chujitsuna shrugged. “She could be known as the best in the country, for what it’s worth, but she will still lose tomorrow.”

Robert scratched his cheek, puzzled. “Really? That means you already have a plan?”

“Of course! I know how to deal with Dwarfs, but overconfident ones? Those are the easier ones. I will get her in… twenty seconds or less, I think.”

Robert took a silver coin from his purse and put it on the table. “Want to put your money on that?”

Chujitsuna smiled and put one gold coin over his and said, “If you make the bet more interesting.”

“Deal. One gold coin says that you will lose.”

“As if! I am going to win, and easily, you will see.”

Robert changed the silver coin for a gold one and gave both to Nozomu. “Here. You will be the judge of this bet.”

Instead, Nozomu put another coin over the table and said, “My coin goes on Chuji. Anyone wants to join us?”

They all put coins on the table, even Tresuria. Hinen sighed, stood up, and shouted, “Everyone, bets are on! One gold coin says that Chuji will win tomorrow, and one gold coin says that Teacher Muse will win! Who wants to bet?”

While the students rushed to him to bet, he shrugged at the puzzled Snake-kind girl. “What? Might as well win a bit more, right?”

She gave him a thumbs-up, and Robert helped Hinen by noting down the names of the students and how much they wanted to bet.

At his table, the Principal was looking at the mess, and he mumbled, “These students are nuts… all of them!”

*So, no comments or reviews? I think it means I might be doing something right, if no one complains. hehehe*
