Chapter 90 – The Amazing Sidekick
“With this, ends the adventures of Nozomu Shinchaku, The Amazing Sidekick, as he would be known in the Raluth World. His sacrifice saved everyone, and his friends remembered him forever. As for Taisetsuna, don’t feel sorry for her because she has three men that love her and, with time, were a good replacement for her lost love. The End!”
The three children with their eyes glowing were smiling at their mother, Mia Snyder.
Her youngest daughter, Susan, asked, “Mother, do you think all that really happened to Grandpa Jack?
“What do you think, dear?”
The smiling blond little girl nodded, “I think it did, mother! Grandpa always told the best stories! Do you think he is back to Raluth? I mean, he died of old age two years ago, but he could be there, right?”
“I like to believe he is, darling. When I was little, and after he woke up from his coma, he seemed to believe in what happened to him, so I believed him as well. And I believed him so much, that from a School assignment, I turned his adventures into a collection of children’s books.”
The three children nodded, and Edward, her oldest son, said, “Yeah, ‘The Amazing Sidekick Adventures’ keeps on selling! Is that the last book in the collection, mother?”
“Yes, it is, my dear. There is not much to tell, you know? Everything ended well.”
Her middle son, Thomas, rubbed his head, a trait that he got from his grandfather, Jack Snyder, every time he was thinking. “You know, you may have material to write a few more books. What about telling what happened in the Raluth World with Taisetsuna and the others, after Nozomu’s disappearance? Or better yet, a new series of books with the kids she had with Tomiga Yurao, Robert Keskula, and Hinen Sukemoru?”
“I see… But children won’t be tired already of adventures like this?”
“I don’t think so. It is a Magical World with mean Fairies, mean Unicorns, exploding flies, and weird pigs. There are also Dragons, and you know that every kid loves Dragons!”
“You may have a point, and my editor keeps on nagging me to start another bestseller series. Alright, what about if you three helped me? Grab a notebook and a pencil, write some ideas, and we will discuss the plot later.”
They all rushed to their rooms, leaving their mother and father smiling at them, and she said, “You know, the kids can be a huge help when they put their minds into it.”
“Yeah, annoying little brats… Ouch!... Why did you punch me? I was joking!”
“One shall never joke about my kids! Ever! Heheheh!”
Meanwhile, in the Raluth World, Taisetsuna was seated on a bench on the porch at the back of her immense mansion, with Hinen Sukemoru, Robert Keskula, and Tomiga Yurao, looking at their kids playing with the Unicorns Rampage and Furnace, and with the Dragons Hinotsume and Mizukonta sleeping on the ground nearby.
She sighed and said, “Nozo would like this, you know? Peace and quiet, kids playing… Yup, that dumbass sure gave us a nice future.”
With a slight frown, Robert asked, “You still miss him, don’t you?”
“What? And you don’t? I once thought you were in love with him instead of me!”
“I am not going to deny it, or confirm it, but he was nice to talk to. No wonder the Princess liked him so much. By the way, shouldn’t we get dressed for the ball? It is Nozomu’s holiday, and we were supposed to celebrate. Or do you prefer to stay here, remembering him?”
“I would, but the Princess and Miss Koyaga would ask for my head if I didn’t show up! The young Prince wanted to show me how much he improved since last week with a brand-new Magic of his own design, and Chuji will be there as well, with Tresuria and their kids. If I remember it correctly, I have a Battleship game to win against Countess Diana. We were tied last time and I also want to know what she is been up to. She was supposed to bring her daughter today to play with our kids, but she is probably still choosing her dress, like usual.”
Robert smiled and said, “For someone that hated you so much, she became one of your best friends. Kind of funny, actually.”
“She gave up on you, and realized that being near me, was way more fun than being around all those prideful Noblewomen because unlike them, I don’t hide what I think of her clothes or how she looks and we can talk about different subjects.”
Tomiga Yurao asked, “Do you think Draiky and Oaky will go as well? I made a new dagger, and I wanted Draiky to test it and check his opinion. Maybe he can use it in his next Quest with his Party. That would be a good advertisement for my blacksmith shop.”
Taisetsuna nodded and said, “I think they will. Draiky returned a few days ago with Oaky, Asadate, and Takanari from a Quest in the old Empire lands, or should I say, from the part that belongs to the Principality, considering that the Empire was divided among the neighbouring countries. I still have no idea why those two like to go on Quests so much, instead of enjoying their Noble title and lands.”
Tomiga shrugged and said, "Maybe because they hate Goblins, and they apply to every Quest when the target is those nasty buggers? Or they consider it to be their duty to work as Adventurers from time to time, like we do, to protect people? Nozomu influenced us all a bit too much, probably."
Hinen muffled his laughter and said, “Do you remember when Nozomu got his ass whooped by Oaky? When he was thrown into the air and screamed all the way down, thinking that he was about to die?”
They all laughed, remembering all the past blunders of their long-gone friend, Nozomu Shinchaku, who always said he was a mere Sidekick, when in fact, he ended up being the greatest hero that ever lived in the Raluth World.
