CHAPTER 28

My eyes opened slowly. My body felt deliciously sore. I wanted to sleep forever. I tried to roll over but the arms holding me tight prevented me from doing so.

I had fucked up. The memories of last night replayed in my head. I didn't know what came over me yesterday to make me hunger for him in that manner. But whatever it was, I knew one thing. I wanted it. I wanted him so much.

The guilt was eating me up. I betrayed Edel. I promised to wait until after our wedding and I gave it out to the man who was supposed to belong to my sister.

I tried to get out of bed again but he grumbled, burying his face in my neck and muttering something. It sent tingled down my spine.

"Let me go" I said.

His only response was to tighten his arms around me.

"Do you regret what we did yesterday?"

He released me and I sat up while he did the same.

"Look at me" he cupped my chin.

"I..."

"Do you regret it"

"No" I said in a small voice but I knew he could hear me. It was honestly the truth. I didn't regret what we had done yesterday. I enjoyed it so much and I'll gladly do it again.

"Then why have you suddenly gone cold"

"I... it's nothing" what could I possible tell him? That I was the wrong twin and I was acting this way because I cheated on my fiancé?

"Do you want to tell me anything?" I shook my head.

"I know I've been an ass and we started on the wrong foot but I'll be honest with you. I really want you"

"Brayan..."

"It's the truth and I'm tired of fighting it. I want you"

I wanted him too. But in the end, we could never be together.

Then maybe you could enjoy the time you have. A small voice whispered in my head.

"You don't have to say anything. Just know that I want to do this with you"

This was absolutely wrong. I shouldn't be doing it but I did it anyway.

"I want to do it with you too" he smiled and pulled me in for a kiss. I kissed him back, climbing over him. I straddled him, our hips grinding against each other. He pulled me harder against him his hands traveling between us.

I moaned in pleasure against his mouth and grounded harder against him. We had gone at it so many times yesterday night and if we continued we were going to go another round.

I was sore already and it was almost time for breakfast. I wanted to join the others for breakfast today. He must have read my mind because he pulled away after nipping at my lips.

I climbed down from the bed and entered into the bathroom. He entered right after me and I dressed up before going downstairs.

Breakfast was about to be served. I walked towards Winry and Elowen but they giggled as I came closer.

"Good morning" I said with a smile.

"Good morning Paisley. You are glowing this morning"

"I wonder why" Winry added and they both giggled.

"We could hear you last night" Elowen wiggled her brows and I blushed furiously.

"You could..."

"Everybody could hear you. You had so much fun yesterday night"

I blushed harder. Everyone could hear me? Including Dakarai? How would I look at him in the face? I was so embarrassed.

"No need to be embarrassed. It's a normal human reaction"

It's not normal and they shouldn't be hearing me while I had sex with Brayan.

I turned away and noticed Rivka standing at the door with a frightened expression.

She called me over and disappeared into the kitchen.

"I'll be back" I said to Winry and went into the kitchen.

"I'm so sorry"

"What happened Rivka?" I asked confused.

"The fruit... you weren't supposed to eat it"

"It's poisoned?" I asked in fear. If it was poisoned and I had eaten it, I was going to die.

"No" she said immediately.

"The fruit was supposed to be used for your third ritual. It's.... It's a mating fruit. You weren't supposed to eat it"

Mating fruit? Was that the reason I felt so horny and out of control yesterday?

"That's enough Rivka. You may leave us" I noticed Brayan I'm the hallway.

"I'm sorry Alpha. I was supposed to put it away and I forgot to. I only realized she had eaten it when I came out later at night. It's all my fault. I'm sorry"

"It's okay Rivka. You may go" he said again.

"Thank you Alpha" she bowed before leaving us in the kitchen.

"Do you know what she's talking about?"

"Yes. The fruit is the mating fruit. It incites arousal. When I came in yesterday, your scent was all over the place. I should have realized that something was wrong"

"Wrong? What was wrong?"

"It was difficult to control my beast. I should have made sure you were clear headed before taking you"

"I wanted it" I told him again.

"I should have still asked. The effects have worn off and there'll be no adverse effect"

"Will Rivka get into any trouble?"

"No. Let's go to the table"

He followed behind me and we entered the dining room. Everyone was seated at the table already.

We took our seats and our meal was served. I heard small footsteps and Naomi appeared at the door of the dining room.

"Good morning everyone" she said in a soft voice.

I heard Brayan curse under his breath before pushing his chair back and going over to meet her.

"How are you feeling?"

"Fine. The bruises have disappeared. I'm hungry"

"Come and sit" he lifted her and placed her on the chair. He took the seat beside her and dished food on her plate.

He smiled warmly at her and fed her while the rest of us ate our food.

"There's a party in town today" Dakarai said.

"I heard about it. I'm so excited to go. You'll be coming right?" Winry asked me.

"Yes" I was excited for a party.

"Will you be coming son?" Whitely asked Brayan.

"I don't think so. There are a lot of things I need do take care of at the orphanage"

"It won't be done by then?"

He shook his head. "I don't think so. There's a new matron and Naomi..."

"I don't want to go back to the orphanage" she cut him off.

"I know you're scared because of what happened yesterday but Glynnis is gone. There is a new matron and we'll be meeting her today. She'll never raise her hands on you"

"I'm so scared. I had nightmares. Please don't send me back" she cried and I could see him conflicted.

"Naomi.."

"Please" she cried harder.

"Just let her stay. The experience is still fresh and she needs some time to heal before she'll be able to stay there" Elowen said.

"Fine. You can stay" he agreed. She smiled widely and wrapped her arms tightly around him.

She had a smirk on her face and I couldn't help but feel uneasy about her.
