TEN: SECOND MEETING 3
KIMBERLY
Liam McGillivary did not come to see me until ten-thirty. I was pissed and had made up my mind to leave, but was stuck because I couldn't find my way out in the labyrinth of the house, then I slept off on the couch. I didn't know how long I slept before I started dreaming of a man looming over me, he was tall and masculine, but I couldn't see his face. My eyes flared open and Liam McGillivary was standing there in front of me staring down at me. I was looking at him upside down, I quickly sat up and wiped my face. He was wearing a black tailored suit, that clung to him like a second skin. He was just as hot as everyone said. I delivered myself from that line of thought, that was not why I came. He stared at me like I was some bacteria that could infect him. I lowered my gaze, even though the anger was boiling in me I had to walk away from here without bringing embarrassment to myself and my family.
He went and sat behind the oak table which I assume was his desk. He relaxed back, clutched his fingers together in front of him, still looking at me. I didn't know if he wanted me to start talking or if I should wait for him to start talking. I really did not want to blow it all up.
"What are you?" he asked.
I didn't answer the question because I didn't understand if he was asking who I was or what I do for a living. He should just be more lucid. I kept mute, staring at anything else but him.
"You don't care who I was, huh?" he said and chuckled.
I shifted uncomfortably in my seat and frowned. He is using my words against me now. I didn't even think he would remember the things I said to him at the cafe. A man of his status should forget what people look like the next day after an encounter, he should have more important things to worry about unless he recorded it for future purposes.
"Name, Kimberly Nordstrom. College, University of Califonia, Berkley. Parents, Mr. Charlse and Mrs. Judith Nordstrom. Siblings, Khloe and Jimmy Nordstrom. Occupation, currently unemployed. Boyfriend..."
I couldn't believe that he had collected a whole lot of data about me. From my parents to me and my siblings. He even knows now that Khloe works at his company and since he was ruthless, I didn't want him to make Khloe's life miserable because of me, he even knows Iris and Pat were my best friends, as he read out my whole existence to me, I felt like crying because he read it with an expression in his face that looked like he was irritated just by reading out my life history.
He looked sharply at me after reading. "So you are a nobody?"
That broke me and I fought back the tears that were stinging the corners of my eyes. Emily was right, he never cared what the other person thought. I inhaled deeply as something hard knotted in my throat.
He stood up and walked towards me "I had my men follow you for days to come up with this? Your parents run a local restaurant and you had the temerity to talk back at me back at the cafe?!"
"I...I...am sorry," I cried. I could no longer hold the tears, so I let them fall.
"You are sorry?! Is that going to bring back my dented image? Talk now bitch! Run your damn mouth, will you!"
I was sobbing profusely now as he yelled at my head, my head was bent. "I'm sorry, I'm sorry." It just hit me that I wasn't prepared for this man at all. I never knew he was this harsh and inconsiderate. "I'm so sorry," I kept apologizing and sobbing. I had to apologize for Khloe at least. she can't lose another job because of me.
"On your knees," he commanded.
I didn't think I heard him right. I looked up at him. "What?"
"You heard me. I said on your knees."
Anger swallowed fear, my teeth clenched and I could almost feel myself going up in flames, I glared at him while he looked at me, expecting me to go down.
"You are sorry, then say it properly."
I shot up from the couch and looked him right in the eyes. "Now, listen to me. I don't care who you are or what you want to do, you can trek to hell and burn to ashes for all I care," I said and started to storm out.
"I will propose a deal!" his voice made me halt by the door but I didn't turn around. I heard his footsteps coming closer. "I am going to make you an offer."
I stood still not wanting to turn back and look at his face. His face was only going to get me angrier and I waited to hear the offer he was going to make. He should have gone straight to whatever he wanted to say than trying to humiliate me.
"The only way I am going to let you go and not sue you is if you will act as my girlfriend."
My eyes widened and I turned sharply and came face to face with him. "What?"
"You heard me right. Since you are good at acting and lying, so, I figured you should continue after all."
A few minutes ago, I would have grabbed this offer with both hands, I could still grab it with both hands, I mean this was an opportunity, a lifetime opportunity, an opportunity to shame Shirley and make her swallow her words, but that proud little woman in me, cautioned me, this was not about Shirley, this was about me and my wounded ego. This guy just insulted me and my family and I couldn't give in to what he wanted because I hate him already, he was handsome yet rotten and I wish I could tell him all I had in mind without causing more trouble.
"Why?" I asked, tilting my chin.
He smiled. "If you don't accept this offer, I'm going to hold a press conference and deny everything you said and I will sue you."
"I don't want to hear what would happen to me if I don't agree to this charade, I want to know why you want me to play your girlfriend. There are a lot of other girls..."
"They didn't claim me as their boyfriend on national TV," he interrupted. "And it's good publicity, alright? It's a good publicity stunt."
"See you in court then," I said in a low firm voice and walked away, banging the door behind me.
