THIRTY: OUTBURST
LIAM
"What the hell is this?!" I yelled at her.
"Hey, don't yell at me!" she yelled back.
Aiden stood immediately and walked over to her, putting his arms over her shoulder and helping her to stand up. She staggered as he helped her up. I was embarrassed as the eyes of the people around us were on us. I was concerned that she had ruined my twenty-thousand Italian suit. It was white and now it was stained. I was furious, why did she get drunk at first? As Aiden led her outside the room, I realized that it should be my cue. I was supposed to be her boyfriend. I grunted and stood up, following them behind. I caught my mum coming down the stairs from the corners of my eyes.
"Tell my mother that I am going home early," I said to one of the men in suit, and he nodded.
I found Kim and Aiden by the sidewalk and I felt a little tug of anger in my heart when I saw Aiden hugging her. I moved closer and tried to take her away from him. I don't know when Aiden would learn that he was not supposed to be in a compromising position with her.
"I will take her from here," I said tersely, taking hold of Kim's arm and tried to take her away from Aiden's grip. But she flung her arm and looked at me, her eyes were red and wet. Was she crying?
"Let go of me!" she yelled.
"What? I am supposed to be the mad one here."
"Oh, right!" she snapped and started walking away. She was so unsteady that I thought she would fall.
"Hey," I caught up and held her. Aiden came behind me. "You got drunk and spilled a drink on me and yet you are mad at me?"
She turned to look at me, wavering. "You are an arrogant jerk! Arrogant bastard," she snared.
"What?"
"If I am not good enough for you why ask me to be in this charade with you?!"
I halted a few feets away from her. She was yelling at me and crying about it, was she being real? What was wrong with her? Why was she even crying? "Can you comport yourself, until we are out of here? My mother or anyone might be watching," I said.
"You know what? Screw you! Screw your mother! Screw this charade! Screw everything! I am sick of you looking down at me, insulting me and my family, telling me what to do and what not to do, calling me a liar, behaving as if you own me!"
"I am paying you for this!" I retorted and walked towards her, but she took a few steps backward and wavered. Aiden came and put a hand over my shoulder.
"Liam, she is drunk and doesn't know what she is doing. You can't talk back at her, you have to look for a way to salvage the situation. She is drunk and it might be dangerous out here."
I hated to admit it, but Aiden was right. But all the same, I felt anger seeping into me. Not only did she embarrass me, but she was also talking like she was doing me a favor.
"I know am poor and I started this whole thing with a lie, but I did it to save myself! If you are going to keep treating me like pieces of trash, you better discard me. I am tired of it all! I am tired of this life! I am tired of not being good enough, even when I am pretending I am human and I have feelings too!"
"Kim stop," I said. I felt a wave of pity hit me at her last statement.
"No! I am going to let out everything I feel tonight. I hate you! I hate your personality, I hate your voice and everything about you. I am just willing myself to do this!"
She hates me? No one has ever said that to me before, no woman had ever hated me before. All I do was be good to her. I have never treated her like the other women, I have given her all the attention she needed. I have gone shopping for clothes with her and had let her sleep on my bed, so what the hell is she talking about?
"I am done with all this, I can't put up with it anymore. I will say the truth on national TV just like I said the lie and I will face you in court and pay whatever amount you need. It would be hard and it would take time but I am going to pay it all off!" she yelled and turned quickly to storm off, but her legs wobbled, her heels bent and she fell face flat.
I didn't know why I rushed over to her, scared she might have broken her nose or something. Aiden came behind me. He didn't want to help me get out of this particular mess, he just watched me handle it. I helped her up to her feet and when her drunken eyes focused on my face, she yanked herself out of my grip.
"Let go of me, you arrogant bastard," she said and staggered a few steps back. She took off her heels and started staggering away from me. I stood there and watched her.
But Aiden spoke behind me. "What are you doing?"
I turned sharply to look at him. "What should I do?" I asked in exasperation.
"Go after her and settle this before the press get's hold of this."
I started after her but she picked a race. I ran after her, cursing under my breath. She was not running by the sidewalk alone she was going into the road and I was scared, she might get hit. I needed to get to her before she would get hit by a car.
"Kim stop running!" I half-pleaded and half-screamed. I was just a few feet away from her, she didn't say anything. When I almost caught up with her, she veered into the road without looking. A car was coming at full speed. My eyes widened. I couldn't let her get hit, but there was a possibility that we would both get hit if I go after her, then I was torn between saving a girl I didn't know who I was just in a contract relationship with or saving myself. I can't die, I was the heir to the McGillivary Empire and I can't die.
The car honked and it seems she suddenly realized she was in the middle of the road. She halted, it was too late to cross over and too late to move back. She shielded her eyes with her arms.
"Kim!" I yelled and my voice seems to echo through the night.
