Chapter 10 (Finding her.)

***Aiden’s POV ***

She is here in this city, Ares and I decided to hop on our motorcycle, going to sniff out my mate. It wasn’t long before we were on the outskirts of the north end of the city, this was all smaller homes, working family homes.
The scent trail got stronger as we went onto another street, finally we stopped at a small cute little house, the sun was just setting give everything a warm glow, this was it, I could feel her here.
***“That’s it, that is where mate lives. She isn’t here though, at least I don’t sense her presence.”***
I studied the little house, it was small perhaps only two bedrooms. It had a wrap around porch in the back and a view of the forest. Yes, this was it for sure I could feel the warmth of her spirit here. I noticed that the neighbor and older lady was watching me as I studied the house, I smiled at her and then drove off.
***“We know now where she lives Ares, it won’t be long and we will be with our mate.”
“Also I have observation to comment on.”
“What is it Ares?”
“Have you noticed Aiden, that it doesn’t matter whether it is in the shifter community or the humans, that there is always at least one nosey old lady?”*
I gave out a laugh, for once in my life I am truly excited, determined now to find out about her life, what does she like to eat? What is her favorite color? Where is she ticklish? What will she sound like as I bring her to the height of her passion? So many things.
It is time for me to become a part of her life, not just some fantasy in her dreams. I needed to touch her, taste her, I needed to know she was real. I sped down the highway on my way to the hospital to finish up on some paperwork and to check on the latest ward in the pediatric ward, it broke my heart to hear Robin’s story.
I have to make sure that there is enough money in the extra’s account, it is something I started for when a patient is in a dire situation, that money will be in there to help them get the medical aid they need.
I parked the bike in my usual reserved spot and headed up to my office, it was after hours so I had most of the office floor to myself, I went through Robin’s case file and added more money to the account, he was going to need some expensive treatments, tests and of course care.
I opened a smaller personal account in his name, this way he will have money for things he would like, anything he wanted or needed that wasn’t covered by the hospital. I sat there for a little while just looking at his picture, wondering what was wrong with the world.
Shutting my laptop off I get up and decided to go and check on the little guy before I go back home. Once I stepped off the elevator onto the pediatric ward it hit me hard, Ares got excited.
***“Mate! Our mate is here on this floor right now, she is here right now.”***
I pause for a moment and looked around, the lights were dim because it was after hours and patients were sleeping. I walked by the nurses station and Judy gave me a wave. Judy was a shifter and although she was from a different pack we all just sort of adopted her.
*“Here to see the new patient Alpha?”
“Yes, what room is he in, I won’t disturb him if he is sleeping I just want to check in on him.”
“He is in room 208, Alpha.”
“Thank you.”*
I gave her a nod and walked down the hallway to room 208, with every step I took the scent of my mate became stronger and stronger. I could feel Ares all but going crazy with excitement inside me, I wanted to tell him to calm down but I couldn’t do that I was just as excited as he was.
The door was half closed and the lights were dim, little Robin must be sleeping. Still, the scent of my mate was so strong this has to be where she is. She must be inside this room right now, I noticed that my hand was shaking a little as I reached for the door handle.
As quietly as my shifter abilities let me I eased the door open and stepped inside, there on the bed was little Robin, I could tell by looking at him that the treatments were taking a hold on him. Monitors quietly beeped behind him as various IV tubes came out from under the covers of the bed.
I Froze in place when I noticed a small foot on the floor on the other side of the bed, quietly I walk around and there she was, my mate. Even though I have watched her before, for some reason in this moment she was even more beautiful than before.
The dim light in the room covered her in shadow but I could see her as plain as daylight, she was sleeping her midnight hair fanned out around her face, she looked like a goddess. I couldn’t believe that she is here, what is she doing in this room sleeping on the floor.
Does she know Robin somehow, family perhaps? I am going to have to find out but for now I tore my self from her lovely slumber and exited the room. I stood out in the hallway for a little bit to calm myself down.
I went back the nurses station to talk with Judy…
Judy gave me a smile as I approached, I went behind the desk and sat down next to her. She gave me a puzzling look but she waited for me to speak. I decided it was best if we communicated via mind link, that way no one was going to hear our conversation.
***“Judy, what can you tell me about the woman lying on the floor in Robin’s room? I she family?”***
She gave out a giggle. ***“Alpha that woman is Laura Roberts she is an RN working on this floor, she has been coming her most nights to sleep in Robin’s room so he doesn’t feel alone. She has been her every night for a week now, because his treatments have been rough on him.”
“She isn’t related to him, but I think that she is thinking about adopting him. For some reason she feels especially connected to little Robin, she makes sure that he wants for nothing. She is new here as well, she is a wonderful caring woman. She is great with all her patients and they all like her as well.”
“I don’t know much more than that, we work opposite shifts I see her only when she comes to spend the night. She is really good friends with Susan Adams, another RN, she works on the day shift, she could tell you more perhaps.”
“Perhaps?”
“Yeah, she is a shifter as well, leopard. She might think that you represent a threat to her friend if you approach her wrong.”
“I understand, also I have made sure there is enough money in Robin’s private account should he be needing or wanting anything.”
“So far Alpha, Ms. Roberts has been taking care of all his wants and extra needs. She insists on it. I have to say that I am impressed with Ms. Roberts compassion and thoughtfulness, even though it isn’t always wise to get so involved with a patient.”
“Thank you for your help Judy, I will be leaving now. I do want you to report to me on any kind of incidents or changes that happen to Robin and Ms. Robert’s while she I here.”*
Judy gave me a nod and I went to the elevators to the parking area, I know now what my plan of action is going to be. I am the largest share holder of the hospital, it was time that I did my annual meeting of the new employees.
I was also going to have check with the head floor nurse to find out my mates schedule, I needed to know when and where she was going to be. With little Robin in the picture it was going to be easier to become a part of her life.
I knew I was going to have to take it slow and do the whole dating thing that humans do, I can’t let her find out about my world to quickly. She just moved from a new place under really bad circumstances pushing her too fast will end in disaster.
My heart was excited, my mate was a warm and compassionate woman. She didn’t care for all the glitz and glamor that most females in my world were.
