Chapter 18 (Show and Tell pt. 1)

***Aiden’s POV***

I knock at her door just as I sense another shifter presence, it was coming from inside the house. I couldn’t tell what kind of shifter; though I knew it wasn’t wolf. They were also definitely female.
I know that I really messed things up this morning and I hope that my mate has calmed down enough now to hear me out. The last words she said still haunted me though, “Never Again” did she think that I was going to hurt her, like that piece of crap Devin?
The door opened and there stood one of my nurses and she didn’t look too happy with me, her eyes flashed and I could tell that her other was with her. I felt something I have never felt before and certainly never wanted to again.
She was looking at me as if sizing me up, I now knew what prey felt like being stalked. What the hell I am an Alpha, Ares rose to the surface and unbelievably she smile at me. What kind of shifter is she? Doesn’t matter she isn’t going to keep me from my mate, I don’t care if I have to call in my entire pack.
*“Wow, you really messed this up didn’t you? Before I let you inside I have to know if your going to give in to your baser instincts again. Laura is a mess; I have just got her calmed down and into a place where she might be open enough to accept the shifter world.”
“I give you my word that I will not lose it again, I want my mate to know, love and above all else trust me. I know I messed it all up, I wasn’t prepared for the bombardment of emotions and intense attraction that I was face with.”
“Now let me pass, I am more than just your average Alpha wolf; come between me and my mate again and you will feel the pain.”
“I know what you and you pack are; you are all dire wolf shifters. Unlike your kind, I have the ability to know exactly what it is I am dealing with at all times.”**
I wasn’t sure how to take that, how in the hell did she know that? What kind shifter is she, I have to know now. I am glad though that my mate has such a protector with her. I don’t however like being threatened. The funny thing is I think that she can back up her threats and if she isn’t afraid of a pack of Dire Wolves then she must be something as equally or more powerful than we are.
*“Listen I just want to clear the air between us, she is my mate I will never do her any harm, I love her and yes I messed this up, but I want to make it right. I need to make it right.”
“Fine, I will let you in, but I am not leaving you alone with her. I have seen how well you have control over your more carnal emotions. I will help you to get her to understand, this isn’t going to be easy for her on any level.”
“Not only are you asking her to open her mind to a whole new world; a world she only knew in movies or fantasy novels, but she is also just coming out of a bad situation, a situation that hasn’t resolved yet.”
“She is a strong person Mr. Jenson but everyone has a tipping point, we have to do this so she doesn’t actually break down.”
“I understand, I will follow your lead in this, for now.”*
Just as I was about to step inside when I heard my mates voice from behind Susan, it startled both of us me, she shouldn’t have been able to sneak up on either one of us, she was pissed and I bet she heard a good part of the conversation.
*“Wow, I don’t really know what you two were talking about; I am not some fragile little flower made out of glass. Yeah, things have taken a left turn, then hit a crazy round-about. What you two should be talking about is either getting in here and give me answers, or get the hell out of my house, either way is fine with me.”*
I wanted to kiss her right then, she looked so fierce in her anger; for some reason she looked sexy as hell standing there with her hands on her hips. She looked like a Luna, My Luna.
It was then that all of us had another surprise…
*“Yes, everyone I think it is best to do as my daughter suggests; don’t want to attract the attention of binocular lady across the street.”
“DAD!?”
“Yes, honey it is me, now everyone inside now.”*
Susan stepped aside and we all filled up the small kitchen as her father shut the door and locked it behind him. After giving Laura a hug, Mr. Roberts then proceeded to close all the blinds and curtains around the house.
*“Dad what are you doing? How did you find me? Why are you here?”
“I am here honey because it is time for you to learn about their world; and your place in it. I am also going to explain to you who you really are.”
“What do you me who I really am?”
“Sit down sweetie, what I have to tell you and what they have to show you is going to be a really huge shock; your strong though I raised you that way. For starters I am going to tell you, that I am your real father however your mother is not your real mother.”*
I stood behind my mate as she sat down on the couch, I know that she doesn’t want much to do with me but I need to help her through this, she needs to know that she is never going to be alone again. I have to admit I am surprised by her father showing up, clearly both father and daughter have the same ability to sneak up on people.
Now he let out a bombshell, her mother isn’t her real mother. I don’t know how much news my mate can take, after tonight she is going to be a bit confused. After she learns everything, I hope she lets me stay with her, at least in the house with her, she doesn’t need to deal with anything else alone.
*“You are not fully human, you are ½ human and ½ druid. Your mother was from another time and place, she had you but she could not stay so she left you with me your father.”
“This was just before I met your stepmother, I had given up on Meridian ever coming back to me, it was over a year before I saw her and that was just as she was dropping you off. She said that it wouldn’t be safe for you in her world and that she could never return here again.”
“She loved you dearly know that she sacrificed so you could live.”
“I am sure that you have noticed that the older you become the more your abilities grow, you get a few from me but most come from your mother.”
I wasn’t sure I was hearing things right, but there was no mistaking what he was saying. So my beautiful Mate is also half druid. Wow, wait till everyone finds out about that, my Luna is Half Druid and half Human.
“Ever since I could remember, I always knew when someone had been in a room at first I didn’t know who but I always knew there was someone. As time when on I could also sense their intent. Like when Adam snuck into my bedroom and planted that frog under my pillow. I also always sense when mom, I mean stepmom, would be getting into one of her moods.”
“I also developed another ability when I turned 16; but it scared me so much that I learned right away to block it out so I would never have to deal with it again. Looking back at recent events, I am thinking that I would have saved myself a lot of grief If I had let it out once in a while.”
“I can walk into a room and hear past conversations; it is as if I am standing in the room while it was happening.”*
I stared at my wonderful mate, I knew she was exceptional but I had no idea that she had all these other abilities as well. Doesn’t matter if she was just a plain looking human with nothing special going on at all, I would still take her as my mate. I watched as her hair shined in the light, at first I thought her hair was raven colored but now it can see that it is a rich mahogany with dark red highlights.
Her scent was surrounding me and I had to take a small step back, it is going to help no one if I am standing there trying to breath with a hard on. I have to have her soon or I am going to go insane with need. I know I have to keep my cool for a little while longer anyway.
Susan was giving me a once over and then a stern look as she jerked her head in the direction of the kitchen.
*“Why don’t you and I go into the kitchen and make some coffee, it is going to be long night after all.”*
I nodded and followed her into the kitchen, father and daughter needed a little alone time for themselves, while Susan made coffee, I searched around the cupboards and found some cookies to go with the coffee.
We were about to go back into the living room with the refreshments, when we both heard Laura let out a scream of rage.
