Chapter 27 ( Here there be Monsters...)

***Laura’s POV***

I wasn’t sure what to make of this development, I looked at Aiden and Josh both had looks of anger and total revulsion on their faces. I have always heard about these types of women from other friends, but I had never encountered them personally. So this is Aiden’s Crazy, everyone while dating has at least one.
I could feel warm liquid running down my arm and instantly I grabbed onto her hand and pushed on her knuckles hard forcing her hand to open and let go. When she lurched towards me again Aiden turned so he was between us, Josh had grabbed her by the neck and he looked like he was going in for the kill.
In a very low menacing growl…

*"To attack the Luna is to die. You were banished from my Pack; what gives you the right to be here, Nina?”*

I didn’t care at that moment, I stayed behind Aiden. They can see it as I am being a coward, but in truth I am so angry right now I could rip her head off; not sure that was a such a smart thing to do, so I stayed where I was.
Josh then dropped her on the ground as she let a small whimper, Aiden and Josh just stared at her with looks of absolute hatred. I wasn’t sure what was going on to be honest, I really didn’t think that this woman was anything to Aiden other than maybe a fling, but at the same time I could be wrong.
It was then that I heard Aiden’s voice but it was different and amplified; it resonated inside my body like the aftershocks of fireworks when you are really close to them. I couldn’t breathe for a second until my body adjusted to the sound.
I could feel his anger, it was so heavy in the air I thought for a second that I could even taste it and it tasted bitter.
The woman stayed on the ground with her head bowed down all her tangled red hair concealed her face, I could see that her fists were clenched; so I doubt that she was crying.
It was then that I felt the air around me become warmer, I looked at Aiden but all I could see was a shimmer of moving light and air; then to my shock there stood a huge beast before me where Aiden once stood, the only way to describe it would be something straight out of a horror movie.
He was at least 9 feet tall, covered in the blackest fur I have ever seen. Muscles were everywhere I could see them move under the fur. He let out a thunderous roar that seemed to vibrate everywhere all at once; then he ran straight at the red haired woman.
She was starting to shimmer but she wasn’t quick enough, the dark monster grabbed her by the neck again and with what I can only describe as a wet tearing sound, he ripped her head clean off of her body. Still in a rage he flung the body and the head in different directions, hot, sticky blood was splattered all over me and everything else in the immediate area.
I don’t know what came over me, but before I knew it I was in a run for my life straight into the forest, I couldn’t even form a thought, I needed to get away, I needed to hide and save myself. Oh, My God, what have I gotten myself into? Holy shit, holy shit. My lungs started to burn but I didn’t stop, fear was my whip master pushing my insanity and keeping me in motion.
Tree branches hit me in my face and body, it didn’t matter I kept going. I didn’t know even where I was going to, but I didn’t care just as long as it was as far away as possible.
Night was falling fast and it was getting colder, I didn’t stop even though my vision was now impaired by the darkness, I tripped over a tree root I could feel myself bleeding. In the distance I could hear my name being called, as howls started to ring out in the darkness. Fear gave me another rush of adrenaline, as I got up and took off again.

***Aiden’s POV*

I was so pissed that that crazy bitch dared to even come back into my territory let alone attack my Mate. As soon I saw the blood on my mates arm I could hear Ares inside me going bat shit crazy. He took complete control quicker than he had ever before, I tried to make him see reason but he was too far gone.
I watched as he ripped the head off that bitch waiting for an opening to take back some control again, our mate was behind us and was watching all this. I knew it wasn’t going to be good, Josh my Beta was there calming me down.
Instantly I felt Ares give way and I rushed in to change us back. I turned to Laura only to find that she was gone. Oh, shit. I had hoped that she would find out about all the scary stuff slowly ,instead right out of the gate she gets to see my killing machine side right in front of her, not just that but I ripped the head off of Nina.
This is all new for me as well, I didn’t expect that the site of my Mate’s blood would cause such a violent reaction at least not one that I couldn’t get under control. Ares let out a groan but he wouldn’t talk to me.

*“Umm, Alpha. Your mate took off for the forest, she is faster than any human I have ever met, she must be scared out of her mind. We need to find her and make sure she is safe, then you need to tell her everything, whether you think she is ready or not.”

“She is already running scared, what makes you think she wont keep running, if she knows that we chase her?”

“We are faster and stronger than her, I know it sounds like a rotten thing to use our superior abilities against her, but what happens if she gets hurt or worse runs into a rogue?”*

I took off in the direction she went, not waiting to see if anyone else were going to follow, they all know she is my Mate now, she will soon be their Luna. They will help me find her and together we will get her to calm back down and at least listen to what I have to tell her.
I could hear guards in the forest; letting out howls alerting others of my mates position. I sped up my pace, I thought about shifting into Ares, but showing up in wolf form would not be a very good idea right now.
God, how far is she running? We are not deep into our territory, miles inside the forest and she is still going. I kept calling out her name; the mind links from the guards told me that she started to run faster.
They were all keeping up with her, but staying out of sight as to not frighten her more, more mind links came in telling me that she was covered in cuts, blood, dirt, and she was limping now from a fall, she was slowing down, probably because she couldn’t see where she was going.
They were all amazed that she was still going, finally Josh informed me that he was following her out of sight in his wolf form. I wanted to shift; so I could be there faster, but there was no way I was taking the risk of her seeing Ares again till she had calmed down.

Josh kept his mind link open as he relayed the information to his Alpha...
***“She is slowing down now; she is looking pretty rough and very pale. I can smell that she is bleeding. She just collapsed onto the ground; she is trying to get back up but it doesn’t appear that she has any strength left.”

“Keep everyone away from her until I get there, I will go to her and bring her back to the packhouse. I hope she has calmed down enough to see reason. Otherwise this is going to turn into a fight, I will have to knock her unconscious then.”

“I understand Alpha, I will keep them all away. Including your sister who has managed to sneak out into this mess.”*

I let out a sigh, I will have to talk with Emily later.

Right now my only concern and focus is on Laura, I hope this doesn’t make her want to leave and never see me again. That will turn every into my worst nightmare, walking out into the small clearing to where she was; curled up into a ball her sides heaving and her eyes wide unseeing.
She was covered in scratches and bruises, her arm where Nina dug in her nails; was wet, shiny red mess, she was still bleeding. She was deathly pale, I slowly approached her she didn’t seem to notice me or anything at all. I knew this look; it was shock.
Kneeling down next to her; I reach out and move some of her hair out of her face. She doesn’t respond, this isn’t good at all. I reached down again and scoop her up into my arms, at first she didn’t respond, I let out a sigh of relief as she moved her body closer to me and rested her head on my shoulder, good at least there is still a part of her that recognizes me as her Mate. Just as I entered the forest again; I looked down to see that her eyes were closed, her breathing was slower and more even now.
I came here to find out what was going on, I wanted to show her everything here the pack and the house, let her get used to things. Instead I find myself carrying my now unconscious Mate to the Pack hospital instead.
