Chapter 28 (Choices and Planning.)

***Laura’s POV***

I woke up in a darkened room, from the scent and the size I knew instantly that I was in some sort of hospital room. I couldn’t see a lot because of the dim light but what I could reminded me of an ER room.
Next to me slouched down sleeping in a chair was Aiden. Instantly everything that happened came right back to me, I started to feel a little embarrassed by my reaction to everything. I wasn’t sure to be honest about any of the wolf side of things, I think I didn’t fully accept it as reality, at least not up to this point in time.
When Aiden shifted into that monster my mind went into overload, it was like I was in a horror movie and the Werewolf just showed up to eat everyone. There was a part of me that understood that it was Aiden and that I wouldn’t be in any danger from him. It was just the realization that he wasn’t the only one who could do that.
The unreasonable human part of me started feeling like a prey animal; that just realized that I had walked into the middle of a place that was full of things that could kill me. I looked away from Aiden, he must think I am some sort of coward, I certainly feel like one right now.
Who was that woman anyway, she seemed a bit on the crazy side, was she an old girlfriend or was she a currant one. I mean what happened between me and Aiden was a bit sudden, had he not had time to break it off with the other one before bringing me to meet everyone?
Ack, the more I thought on it the more and more the scenarios became crazier, I am just going to have talk to Aiden about it, I am going to make him tell me everything. I don’t want anymore surprises like what happened today.
I made a move to sit up and a hand gently pressed me back down onto the bed…
*“Not now my little dove, after that kind of shock you need to let your body rest. I know your not a shrinking flower but we all have our limits. I am afraid with you being here, your limits are going to keep being pushed.”
“I am sorry that I reacted that way Aiden; had I had some sort of warning that you were going to all scary movie in front of me, I might have been able to deal better with it.”
Without saying a word Aiden got up and got into bed with me, it was a small bed so I ended up mostly on top of him. He held me tightly.
“I am the one that is sorry little dove, I should have explained everything and shown you all that I could; before bringing you fully into my world. To say that you were under prepared is an understatement. It wasn’t fair to you and it could have even been dangerous.”
“Not only do you not know of all the physical changes that we have; you do not know about the emotional changes either. Nor the rules or protocols of daily life, tomorrow you and I are going to lock ourselves into my room, where we will talk till you feel you know and understand everything.”
“I was so happy about finally getting my mate, that I forgot that I had to take care of my mate.”
“It is alright Aiden, I promise I will not do a freakout again, there isn’t anything worse that you could show me that I haven’t already seen, right?”
“Not exactly, if I have my way however, that is the most you will ever be exposed to it again.”
“Aiden, you cannot guarantee something like that, you do not know the future. I would rather be prepared for it; than have it happen again without any idea what was going on. I won’t live a sheltered life. I understand your world is dangerous, mine is to in its own way.”
“Alright, I understand. I won’t try to curb your freedom, just know this though; if I feel you are in danger of any kind, I will shut that shit down before it gets a chance.”
“I understand, first we talk though, I want to know everything there is to know about your world and the people who live in it. I mean everything Aiden, leave nothing out.”*
I am not sure if I was still tired from all the lack of sleep I had been going through, or if it was from the panic attack I had; but I drifted off to sleep in the warmth of Aiden’s embrace. I am not sure how this was all going to work out, but I am determined to see it through.

***Aiden’s POV***

I had been on pins and needles waiting for Laura to wake up and tell me that our relationship was over, instead she surprised me; with her determination to know all she needed to know to live in my world.
I held her warm soft sleeping body to me, I think that I had gone about this a little bit backwards. I should have just faced it all head on and trusted that my mate would be strong enough to understand. Instead I held back in fear that she would bolt and run at the first sign of trouble.
Well she did bolt and run but who wouldn’t, she grew up in the human world where everything in my world is myth or movies. Suddenly, she is facing and enraged Alpha in his Lycan form ripping the head off of her attacker. I went from the cute cuddly wolf to a full-blown monster straight from her nightmares.
The fact that she is willing to stay and know all she can is a tribute to her inner strength and bravery, she is everything I could have ever asked for in a mate and more.
I slip my arm out from under her and gently cover her up, I look over to the door and see my little sister Emily looking in curiously. I gave her a smile and joined her out in the hallway.
*“What are you doing Em, you can’t be putting yourself into the middle of all this.”
“I know but I have to at least see what she looks like; my big brother has brought me a big sister and a Luna for our Pack. You didn’t think I was just going to stay away and not see what was going on.”
“I want to meet her Aiden; I can help you and her both. I can explain everything she needs to know while you have to take care of your duties. I wont be scaring her half to death by turning into my Lycan form either. What were you thinking you idiot, you could have cost us our Luna. It is a good thing she isn’t one of those wimpy whining humans.”
“I have you know that most of the pack is interested to meet her, they don’t care if she is human. There are a few though especially those old curmudgeons elders; you know what they are going to say. You are going to have to keep on eye on them, they may be old but they make up for it with their sneaky schemes.”
“Ok, ok Emily I get it. I don’t need a lecture right now. I would love for you to meet her; I think it is best though if she goes back to live at her apartment for now. I will arrange it for you to go and stay with her.”
“Just so you know, she has some other problems surrounding her as well, I will let you know all about them so you will be prepared. I want you to teach her everything, I mean everything Em. All of it from the smallest to the biggest.”*
Emily gave out an excited squeak and took off to the pack house, no doubt packing her bags for what she sees as another adventure. It will be helpful though to have them both out of pack territory for a little bit; while I sort out the mess of killing Nina and get the elders behind me for a change.
Change, the one thing that none of them like. If it is different and new then it has to be evil and avoided at all costs. I can’t believe that it took us five years to get them to use a cell phone, even now half of them still won’t use them. There are four of them that won’t even have a television in their house.
I am going to have to come up with a plan, I think for now I am going to only expose Laura to my small inner circle of warriors. I know that they will accept her and help me keep her safe, while she gets adjusted to our world.
She has problems of her own to deal with as well, those at least if I have to I will go and take care of for her. Her so-called Mother is a real piece of crap, her ex is just a greedy idiot, perhaps a little hunting trip will straighten him out.
Nothing like the ride in the trunk of a car to a dark woods; then chased down by wolves for sport, to make a guy see a different point of view.
Yes, I think that might have to be arranged; my warriors have been restless lately a little sport might just be the thing to cheer them up.
