Chapter-38

Shourya's POV

Today was the last day of exam to attend as an invigilator and I was late.

After this I didn't have to hold any lecture because my wife's exams would be completed.

Naina had already left.

I came to the classroom, distributed the papers and the exam started but I was getting restless. I didn't know why.

I was feeling like something was going to happen.

I called home to confirm about princess and sister in law said she was sleeping. I sighed in relief.

Now only Naina was left. I hope she's fine. I wanted time to go fast so that I could meet my wife.

These two and half hours were hell for me.

When I went to see my wife everyone was whispering of some girl fainting. I hope she's not her.

I entered exam room to see everyone talking about the incident. I searched for her but she was not present here.

"What the hell happened here?" I asked controlling my temper.

"Sir, Naina Khanna fainted," One of the guys in the class said.

"What!"

"Yes sir."

"Where is she now?"

"Karan and Rithu took her to the hospital."

I left from there and immediately took out my phone to call them but instead I got a call from Rithu.

"Brother," She said controlling her sobs.

I could understand her concern for Naina. But I didn't know what happened to her.

"Rithu calm down and tell me what happened." I moved towards my car.

"Brother, Naina fainted after submitting her paper. I don't know what happened to her. Me and Karan have brought her to the City Hospital. Please come fast. I'm scared."

Meanwhile, some stupid guy stopped me saying that principal was calling me.

I didn't damn care who was calling me now. My first priority is my wife. I have to go to her.

I quickly drove to the hospital.

Karan's POV

I really hate exams. How can people write these tough questions?

But here I've to write because my sister made me complete the syllabus.

She's truly a gem but here I'm an average guy passing with margin marks.

I think this time I would pass my exams with good grades because of my sister's help.

I tried to remember the last question's answer but it was all in vain.

After that I got up to submit my paper but I heard a loud thud and saw my sister collapsed on the floor.

I threw the answer sheet at professor and knelt down on the floor. I took her head in my lap and tried to wake her up but she was not opening her eyes.

"Naina dear, wake up," I said patting her cheeks but got no response.

So I took her in my arms and came outside to see Rithu standing there shocked.

I didn't have time for her questions.

"What happened to her?" She asked in a scared tone coming towards me placing her hands on Naina's cheeks.

"Can't you see she has fainted? I am taking her to the hospital so please give me some way," I said irritated with her questions.

"Oh, okay." She followed behind me.

I placed her on the backseat with Rithu's help and started the car to the hospital.

"Why do you always talk rudely with me?" She sobbed tears flowing from her eyes.

I couldn't see tears in her eyes but I controlled myself not to go close to her.

"Will you shut up your damn mouth for a few minutes?" I snapped at her.

I didn't know why but I'd to do it otherwise I wouldn't be able to control myself from getting uncomfortable.

After that she kept mum. I didn't like seeing her sad face.

"Call your brother," I said concentrating on my driving.

She took her phone and dialled him.

I could see how worried she was for Naina. I'm glad Naina you got a great friend.

We arrived at the hospital and took her to doctor's cabin.

Doctor examined her and sent her for some tests to be performed on her.

Then Arya arrived and went to doctor's cabin. He came outside with a pale face. I didn't dare to ask because I was scared.

After two hours they shifted Naina to another room. He went inside and came back with a thousand watt smile.

I couldn't understand this man.

"What happened?" I asked him.

Idiot! Not saying anything but grinning, displaying his thirty-two teeth.

"You're going to be an uncle and you're going to be an aunt." I smiled.

"Really brother?" she asked widening her big doe eyes which were twinkling with happiness.

"Yes," he confirmed smiling.

"Congratulations," We both said in unison.

"Thank you." He hugged his little sister.

After that he again went inside the room to see his wife.

Suddenly, I felt warmth enclosing my body as she was hugging me tightly.

I didn't know what to do. So I simply placed my hands on her back relishing it thinking it would be our first and last hug.

Shourya's POV

When I came to the hospital I saw Rithu and Karan waiting outside doctor's cabin.

I went inside to see he was checking her.

"How is she related to you?" doctor asked.

"Wife."

"Ok, so you have to wait for an hour. After her tests, I will be able to diagnose her condition."

After an hour the nurse came and said that doctor was calling me.

I went to the cabin and he informed me that everything was fine. Then he said something which made me happy as well as sad.

I went to room 203 where my wife was admitted. There my jaan was lying with a saline drip attached to her hand.

I didn't know how she would react.

A part of me was the happiest man in the world and the other part was dejected hearing the news.

Later, she woke up smiling at me.

"Are you okay?" I asked keeping my thoughts at bay.

"Yes. What happened to me?"

"You fainted."

"Oh, ok. Everything is okay, right?"

"Yes."

"But why do I feel you are keeping something inside you?"

"Nothing," I said not meeting her gaze.

"Really?"

"Yes."

"Nothing? Something is there. Wait, I'll ask the doctor," She hastily got from the bed.

"We're going to have a baby," I blurted out which resulted in a moment of silence.

"Really?" She asked placing her hands on her belly feeling our baby.

"Yes, are you happy?"

"Yes."

"Are you not scared?" I asked holding her hands.

"Why will I be scared? I'm happy that I can't even explain it," She said tears glistening in her eyes.

"Oh! Now I understood. You thought I won't be happy with the news. The baby will break my dreams. Never, Arya. This baby is a blessing to us so don't feel like that. This baby is unexpected to both of us so don't feel worried. I'm good, ok. Now smile my big baby," She said making me burst into laughter.

"That's like a good boy," She giggled. After that I went outside and broke the news to my sister and brother-in-law.

Then we left for home, ate dinner and slept.

Next morning

Our family arrived to our house to warn us of our carelessness.

"Baby, wake up," I said kissing her cheeks.

"Hmm.."

"Jaan wake up."

"Let me sleep for five minutes," she pouted cutely in her drowsiness.

"Ok, only five minutes."

After five minutes I tried waking her up but all in vain.

"Baby, if you don't get up now I'll kiss you," I fake-threatened her.

"No," she protested opening her eyes.

I know how to wake you up jaan.

"Now go and get ready. Mom, dad and everyone are waiting."

"Really?"

"Yes."

After she went to washroom I proceeded to our daughter's room to see her playing with her aunt.

Rithu was smiling at her but it was not reflecting in her eyes.

"Princess, are you fine?" I asked keeping my hand on her head.

"Yes brother."

But still I could see she wasn't fine.

"Come let's have breakfast." I took baby in my arms.

After that we had breakfast teasing and pulling each others legs and laughing.

Naina's POV

After one month:

This one month had been really tiring for me because of eating and puking.

I didn't know what this baby was doing to me.

I hoped that this time I would have my little prince in my arms.

But Arya again wanted a daughter.

Naxt week was the convocation day. I was very nervous.

These days Rithu was staying here only but I lost the chirpy bubbly girl who always made me smile.

She always craved for parents love which she never got because she's an orphan.

I never treated her as an outsider but like a family member.

She was hiding something from me. I'd to confront her today.

I slowly walked to her room and went inside to see her crying.

"Rithu," I called placing my hand on her shoulder. She quickly wiped her tears.

"What happened Rithu? Why are you crying?" I asked holding her hands.

"Nothing," she choked.

"Don't hide it from me Rithu," I glared.

"I'm pregnant," She said making me shocked.

"What?" I asked confirming thinking I heard it wrong.

"I'm pregnant Naina," she asserted tears brimming in her eyes.

I didn't know what to do.

Should I be happy or worried for the unborn child?

"Does Rohit know?"

"No, he doesn't," she denied not meeting my gaze.

I was missing something here. What was that?

"You should tell him."

"Why will he care?"

"Means?" I asked perplexed.

"He's not the father of my child."

"Who's the father?" Someone behind me asked.

Shit! Shourya heard everything.

I hope the baby's father will be safe. I know about him. If his loved ones get hurt then he will go to any extent to hurt that person.

"Me," a voice came from outside making us snap our heads in that direction................
