Chapter 30

***Serafina's POV***

I looked at Cressida filled with confusion but before I could voice out my question the side of her lips rose for an evil smirk before she turned around and walked away leaving me dumbfounded.

What was that?

"Don't let her words get into your head Queen Serafina. Cressida can't do anything to hurt you. You are always protected," Maximus uttered but his words failed to comfort me.

The fear that I felt when Cressida said those words still lingers and I don't for some reason I feel like she will do everything to make those words happen.

"Do you want to head inside Queen Serafina? The sun is already scorching hot I think it will be best if you stay inside and take a rest,"

I did not argue with Maximus. I headed inside just like what he suggested. He accompanied me towards my room and even opened the door for me.

"Thank you, Maximus," I politely uttered.

Maximus smiled at me and respectfully bowed his head. "Just call me if you need anything, Queen Serafina,"

I nod at him and watch him walk away. When he was out of my sight I stepped inside my room and sat on my bed trying to remember whatever it was that I had done to Cressida for her to say those words.

I was sitting on my bed for an hour trying to figure out everything but my head just ended up hurting and I still failed to regain my lost memories.

"Queen Serafina," a soft call interrupted my deep thinking.

I walked towards the door to check who it was and I saw the young lady again who refused to answer my question.

"You did not give me your name young lady,"

She apologetically bowed her head. "I am sorry Queen Serafina I forgot to mention my name," she politely uttered and finally met my gaze. "I am Odessa, one of your servants,"

I smiled at her and she returned my smile making the aura around her feel light. "What brought you here Odessa?" I asked anticipating the words that would slip out of her lips.

"The royal physician is asking for you. It's time for your examination,"

I nodded and grabbed my robe before I followed Odessa to whichever room she would go.

After a while, we stopped in front of a huge wooden door. Odessa opened the door for me and upon setting my foot inside I saw a woman wearing all-white clothing making her easy to distinguish as the physician that Odessa was talking about.

The physician bowed her head to me and flashed a gentle smile making me feel at ease.

"You may lay down your Highness," she uttered so I followed her order and lay on the huge bed.

I bit my lower lip when she lifted my skirt and started checking my private parts.

I held my breath while she was examining me and when she was done she looked at me with her eyes glistening with happiness.

"Congratulations your Highness you are with a child!" she happily announced making my forehead crease.

King Calixto told me that he already claimed me but I can't still process that I am already carrying his heir.

I felt my heart swell in happiness and tears started forming on the corner of my eyes.

"Congratulations Queen Serafina," Odessa happily greeted me making my smile grow wider.

I still can't believe it but as it slowly sinks in I can feel my heart thumping faster than its normal rhythm.

Out of excitement, I ran out of the room barefooted.

"Queen Serafina!" I heard Odessa calling me but I ignored her and continued running down the hallway to find Maximus. He must bring me to King Calixto.

I can't wait to tell the good news to the king.

"Maximus!" I shouted his name and I saw servants looking at me but I ignored them and continued calling Maximus until I finally found him in the garden observing anyone who set foot inside the palace.

"Maximus," I called him making his head turn in my direction.

He looked at me with his eyebrows furrowed and he seemed to be confused by my sudden appearance.

"What are you doing here Queen Serafina? I thought you were already resting?"

I shook my head, a huge and bright smile still plastered on my face.

"Bring me to King Calixto. I need to talk to him," I uttered unable to hide the excitement in my voice.

"He is already at the palace of Queen Serafina. I think he is in the infirmary visiting Cressida,"

My heart sank hearing those but I did not let it ruin my bright mood.

"Thank you, Maximus,"

I did not waste any time. I hurriedly headed towards the infirmary. I know he is still talking to Cressida but my news can't wait. I feel too overwhelmed to keep it by myself.

With a bright and huge smile, I made my way inside the infirmary but the happiness that I was feeling immediately faded.

"I am pregnant King Calixto,"

But it was not my voice. That news did not come from me. It was from Cressida who was holding King Calixto's hand while looking at him intently.

As I looked at them staring at each other all my painful memories flooded my mind shattering my heart even more.

Cressida is pregnant.

Cressida is King Calixto's mate.

Cressida is the woman he loves not me.

I caressed my belly as tears streamed down my face.

Will he choose my child over Cressida's?
