CHAPTER FIFTEEN
Olivia managed to leave the restaurant when no one was watching, the city streets were busy with late night activities, and she hoped to blend into the crowd. As she rounded a corner, she saw a taxi driving to the curb. She quickened her pace , her mind racing with thoughts of freedom.
But just as she was about to reach the taxi , a hand clamped down her arm , yanking her back. Olivia gasped and tried to, but her abductor was too strong.
“Let me go!!”She screamed, kicking and fighting with all her strength.
Meanwhile Lucas had given the necklace to Olivia, it was a precaution, something he hoped he wouldn't need to use , but now it seemed necessary.
He pulled out his phone, activating the tracking app connected to the chip. A map appeared showing a blinking dot - Olivia's location. With a grim determination , he made his way back to his car, to track her down.
Lucas drove with relentless focus, his eyes never leaving the tracking app, on his phone, the blinking dot representing Olivia's moved swiftly across the screen and he knew he had to close the gap quickly.
He knew Olivia might try to escape, but he was surprised when the tracker led him to an abandoned warehouse. He parked the car a short distance away, and approached the warehouse on his foot, his gun ready. He moved silently , his senses heightened , listening for any sign of movement.
He heard voices coming from inside the house, Quietly he approached a side mirror and peered in. He saw Olivia tied to a chair, struggling against her restraints, her red dinner gown, now rumpled, and her hair scattered. A man loomed over her, a cruel smile on his face.
Lucas’s blood boiled, he burst through the door , his gun raised, “let her go, now”
The man turned , startled, his eyes widened at the sight before him, “Lucas Moretti?” He said with a trembling voice.
He knew Lucas to be a ruthless man.
Without saying a word, Lucas fired a shot that hit the man’s leg.
The man screamed dropping to the ground, Lucas moved closer, crossing the room in two strides , his gun trained on the man’s head.
“Who sent you?” Lucas demanded, his voice low and dangerous.
The man whimpered, clutching his bleeding leg, “Marco!! Marco sent me”
Lucas’s eyes darkened , without another word, he pulled the trigger , ending the man’s life, the man fell lifeless on the floor.
Olivia gasped, tears streaming down her cheeks.
Lucas turned to Olivia, quickly cutting his restraints.
“Are you okay?” he asked, nis voice softer now, though still edged with tension.
Olivia nodded, her eyes wide with fear and relief, “I’m ..I’m fine” , she stammered.
Lucas untied her, and helped her to her feet, keeping his arm around her as they made their way back to the car. He could feel her trembling , the aderaline still coursing through her veins.
As they drove back to the mansion, Olivia turned to Lucas, “I tried to escape because I can't live like this. You’re the reason my life is in danger”.
Lucas’s jaw tightened, his grip on the steering wheel was very firm, “I’m the reason you’re still alive, do you understand what would have happened, if I hadn't found you”, Lucas said, hi gaze was fixed on the road.
Olivia's eyes filled with tears, “I know, but I can't stay locked up forever, I need my nornal life back”.
Lucas pulled the car to a stop outside the mansion, turning to her, his eyes blazing with intensity, “You think the outside world is safe for you? You just saw what happens when you’re out there without protection, Marco won't stop until he gets what he wants”.
“And what is it that he wants?” Olivia demanded, her voice rising.
“Power, Control, Everything that I have” Lucas replied, his voice a low growl , “And he’ll use anyone to get it”.
“But why me, I'm not suppose to be part of this” Olivia asked, her voice tinged with emotions.
“You found out, he was the traitor Olivia” Lucas said as he drove into the mansion.
They got out of the car, and Lucas guided her inside, his hand firm on her arm. Once inside, he turned to her, his expression a mix of anger and concern.
“Do you understand now, why you can't leave?” he asked, his voice softer, but still commanding. “It's not just about you, it's about the war we’re in , the people who will do anything to get me. And that includes hurting you”.
Olivia looked up at him, her eyes filled with a mixture of defiance and fear, “I didn't ask to be part of this”.
“You did. The moment you decided to look into my business that doesn't concern you”.
Tears slipped down Olivia cheeks, and Lucas reached out, brushing them away with his thumb. The gesture was surprisingly tender, and it caught her off guard.
“I don't want this life”, she whispered.
Lucas sighed, his expression softening, “I will keep you safe, no matter what, just trust me”.
They stood there in silence the weight of their circumstances, settling over them. Olivia realized that despite everything, Lucas was her only ally in this dangerous world.
“Let's get you inside” Lucas said finakky, guiding her up the stairs , “You need to rest”.
As they walked through the mansion, Olivia felt a strange sense of safety despite the danger that surrounded them.
She also realized that Lucas might be a Mafia boss, but he was also her protector.
Back in her room, Olivia sat on the edge of the bed, her mind racing, She looked up at Lucas , who stood in the doorway, his eyes still filled with fierce determination .
“Thank you”, She said softly, as she tried to unzip her dress , “Please I need Lucy to help me with this”, Olivia said.
Lucas nodded, his expression unreadable, but instead of him to move away and give Olivia some privacy, he walked into the room, “I'll help with that”, he said, moving closer to Olivia, he placed his hand on her back, and unzipped the dress, revealing Olivia’s bare back.
