THIRTY TWO
THIRTY TWO
The next morning, Olivia woke up in Lucas's arms. She was surprised to see Lucas still sleeping, as he was typically an early riser.
She admired him as he slept, noticing how gentle he looked despite his dark eyes and aura of danger surrounding him as a Mafia boss.
The memories of what they had shared the previous night flashed through her mind, and she smiled. Who could have thought she could fall so easily for this man?
She gently tried to leave the bed to head to her room, but Lucas stopped her, his hand still around her waist , “Stay, pretty doll.”he murmured, his eyes still closed.
“Lucas, I need to go see Monica,” Olivia replied softly. Olivia sighed, a mix of frustration and affection, “You know, I can't just stay here in bed forever.”
Lucas finally opened his eyes , looking at her with a sleepy but intense gaze. “Why not?” He asked with a small, teasing smile.
She rolled her eyes, though she couldn't hide the smile, tugging at her lips, “Because, I really need to see Monica.”
“Monica is fine,” Lucas said, his voice low and soothing. “She's safe. You can see her later, right now, I want you here with me.”
Olivia's heart fluttered at his words, even though she tried to maintain her resolve. “You can't always get what you want, Lucas.”
He raised his eyebrow,a hint of his usual commanding presence returning, “Are you challenging me,Olivia?”
She met his gaze feeling a hint of defense and affection, “Maybe I am.”
He chuckled softly, his eyes never leaving hers, “I like a challenge,” he said, pulling her closer. “But right now, I just want to enjoy this moment with you. That's all i ask.” Lucas said , his voice a soft whisper as he leaned in to kiss her forehead.
Olivia sighed, knowing she had lost the battle. They lay there in silence for a few moments, Despite the chaos surrounding them, the moment felt almost peaceful , almost normal.
“Why are you so insistent on me staying ?” Olivia asked, breaking the silence.
Lucas looked at her, his expression serious, “Because, I don't know how many more moments like this, we would get,” he admitted. “Things are going to get dangerous, Olivia, but I need you to know you’re safe.”
Olivia felt a lump in her throat . “I know, Lucas.” She reached up to touch his face, her fingers tracing the lines of his jaw, “Why don't you let me help you, we can do this together.”
Lucas sighed, “You don't have to, I just want you to be safe , here, with me.”
“I will,” she said, leaning to kiss him softly, “Now, can I please go get ready?”
He sighed, releasing her reluctantly, “Fine, I”ll arrange some guards to accompany you “
“Alright” Olivia said, finally slipping out of the bed.
As she left the room, Lucas watched her go. He knew things were about to get even more complicated .
…..🌵
Few minutes later, Olivia emerged from her room, dressed in a sleek black gown. Her hair usually tied back in a practical bun, cascaded in loose waves around her shoulders.
As she made her way to the foyer, her mind raced, she knew it was dangerous to be out with all the chaos happening , but she needed to see Monica.
Reaching the foyer, Olivia's eyes widened in surprise, at the sight that greeted her. She met Lucas casually leaning against the hood of one of the vehicles, wearing tailored shorts and a crisp white polo , that emphasized his relaxed yet commanding presence.
“Lucas, what's going on?” Olivia asked, her brow furrowing, gesturing towards the fleet of SUV cars lined up, each sleek vehicle manned by stern looking security personnel in dark suits.
Lucas met her gaze, a hint of amusement in his lips, “Precaution , Pretty doll,” Lucas reached for her hands, “Like I said before, there are a lot of people after me.I just want you to be safe.” He said his gaze never left hers.
Olivia glanced at the security team, “This many?” she asked incredulously.
Lucas chuckled softly, “I’ll rather be safe than sorry.”
Despite her initial surprise, Olivia understood the gravity of the situation.
“Alright,” she said, resigning herself to the necessity of heightened security. “But the penthouse is still on this city right?, Do we really need all these, for just a short trip?”
Lucas straightened up, pushing off from the vehicle, “You never know,” he replied, “Just get in and stop being an inquisitive doll.”
Olivia sighed, “Fine, Lead the way.”
Together they walked towards the waiting convoy, Olivia’s mind racing with unanswered questions, she wondered why a lot of people were against Lucas. As Olivia climbed into the lead SUV, the tension was palatable, a strong reminder of the dangerous world she had involved herself in.
The SUV glided smoothly out of the mansion's gates ,joining the convoy as they made their way through the winding roads leading to the penthouse.
Olivia glanced at the tinted window, watching the scenery blur past in a rush of greenery and glimpses of the city skyline beyond. Oliviia couldn't shake the feeling of being watched, Every shadow seemed to hold a potential threat.
As they approached the penthouse entrance, Olivia's heart raced with a mixture of anticipation and dread. The security detail orchestrated by Lucas moved with practiced efficiency, sweeping the area with meticulous precision before allowing them to enter .
Olivia emerged from the car, her heels clicking softly on the pavement as she approached the entrance of Lucas' penthouse.
She couldn't help but feel a mix of excitement and nervousness, the security team, dressed in black suits, followed her closely, maintaining a watchful eye on their surroundings.
As she found her way at the entrance door. She was struck by its opulence. Securities were scattered all over the place inside the penthouse, “Monica must really be safe here,” she muttered.
One of the guards directed her to the room where Monica was, The door was slightly ajar, she could hear the sound of a movie playing ,Olivia pushed the door gently , it was the private cinema. She stepped inside and saw Monica seated comfortably on one of the plush leather recliners, completely engrossed in the movie, her legs stretched out resting on another cushion she was busy munching on a box of pizza. The room was dimly lit, the large screen casting a soft glow over everything.
Monica hadn't realized Olivia just entered, Olivia smiled at the sight of her friend, she seemed to be enjoying her prison.
“I see you’re having fun here.” Olivia said, walking towards Monica. Monica turned to Olivia's direction, “Liv?!” She called out in surprise.
