Chapter 24

Jake's POV
For the first time in a really really long time I wanted to be wrong. Just once. Please. I had nothing against the two of them being together but the relationship would signify much more. Marcus and Zawadi being together meant that our plan was compromised. That meant we had to use everything in our power to destroy what they have. I feel for them but it is what it is .

How much can one relationship take? How much can the two of them take? All I knew was,we couldn't use the normal methods . If we broke them up the normal way, they would get back together again. Over and over again. They were bound to find each other eventually as they were in love. They found true love in the midst of all the crap thrown their way.No matter what we did or the obstacles we created they would find a way.

" I knew it" I whispered.

" It seems so" said an annoyed Adeline.

I needed to talk to Katelyn about this before we proceed to the next step. I always wanted her to feel included in the planing . She thought she called all the shots but let's face it, I was the brains behind this operation. Without me they would be lost. Without me there would be no money to steal.

" What is our next move?" She asked

" Katelyn and I need some time to strategize and then we will get back to you" I said taking lazy steps to the door.

My work here was done but it was only the beginning. We were now aware of the leak in our plans and we intend to block it. When I turned to say goodbye to Adeline I noticed something was wrong with her. She was annoyed. No scratch that, she was furious.

' I should say something' I thought

" Don't tell me you are still in love with my brother" I commented in a condensceding tone.

" No I am not" she retorted

" Your mouth says no but your eyes say a different story" I pushed

" Listen to my words carefully... I said No! Nein! Do you need it in another language?" She snapped

" Careful now, am still your boss"

" You are not my boss. My boss is up there fucking everything that moves. You are my partner in crime"she pointed at me.

I must have made her furious blurting out my comment without considering her feelings . Her chest moved up and down and her hands held tightly on the desk. She tried controlling her breathing but she failed miserably. I felt bad for pointing out the obvious. I guess everyone was entitled to their own secrets. Even her.

" A piece of advice, you cannot plot against someone you love. Now pull yourself together, we have alot to do" I commanded her.

" Yes boss" she whispered.

" Good. We will get in touch soon but until then be on the look out and do you fucking job!" I growled.

Without waiting for her to respond I opened and closed the door with a bang. Fuck! They were right when they said if you want something done right do it yourself.
I was the only one taking everything seriously. I made sure to do everything I was supposed to. But that doesn't even matter when you have idiots failing at simple tasks. I was disappointed with both Katelyn and Adeline. Was it too much to ask for them to do their fucking job?

Did I expect too much from small minded people? I thought they were both smart. I chose them because I believed they were smart. That they realized everything we did was illegal and we had to do our part to ensure that, we don't wind up in jail. I didn't want to end up in jail. And I was sure none of them wanted the same but we might as well put a sign next to our names saying we were thieves.

We were like a bee hive. Everyone had a role to play and if one of us doesn't perform their role, we all face the concequences. I rushed out of the hotel through the front door. I was too preoccupied with my thoughts to worry about Marcus watching me. I could lie. I was good at lying anyway.
I got in the car and asked the driver to take me back to the house. I needed to talk to Katelyn and come up with a plan before everything goes to shit around us.
We arrived home in record time. Thank goodness there was no traffic today. I didn't even wait for the car to stop properly before I jumped out and raced towards the house. I opened the front door quickly,removed my shoes and placed them in the rack near the door.

" Katelyn! Katelyn! Katelyn!" I called out.

" In here" she yelled from somewhere in the house

" Where is here?" I shouted

" In the kitchen"

I went to the kitchen and found her waiting for the chef to prepare her something to eat.

" What are you doing?" I asked amused

" Waiting for my chicken wings to be ready" she answered without looking at me.
She looked longingly at the ingredients that you would think we don't feed her enough .

" Can we talk in your room please?" I asked in a serious tone.
She turned to stare at me , possibly trying to decipher what was going on. When she got her answer she led the way to her room. I followed closely behind and locked the door behind us. We didn't need Lily listening to our conversation. As a matter of fact we didn't need anyone to listen to our conversation.

" I know why Marcus moved out" I said.

" Why?" She asked with that innocent look that drove me insane.

" He moved out because he is seeing someone"

" Who?" She looked puzzled.

" Be patient I will tell you"

" Tell me already"

" He is back together with Zawadi" I blurted out .

" What! That bastard!"

" Yea,I found out today."

" How? Tell me"

" I went to the hotel to push him to come back to the house but my plans were soiled when I saw Zawadi. At least she had the decency to lie to me"

" That tramp!"

" I went to Adeline to get some answers. Turns out she has not been keeping tabs with Marcus"

" We gave her one fucking job"

" I know"

" So what happened next?"

" If you don't stop interrupting me,I might finish quickly"

" Sorry"

" So we had to check the security cameras until we got the evidence we needed. "

" How bad was it?" She asked deep in thought.

" Very bad"

" That would explain why he has no intention of coming back"

" What do we do now?" I asked her.

" My job is to get married to him and I will not fail at that again. Leave it to me. I will deal with him and her" she said in a calm but scary voice.

One thing I learnt about Katelyn earlier on in our relationship was that, if she is scolding you that is a good sign. Her being silent or using that calm voice she just used was bad. Like murder level bad.

I didn't understand what she meant by she will deal with her. What did she mean?

" What do you mean by you will deal with her?" I asked concerned that she might do something really stupid.

" Don't worry about it my love" she said

" Don't do something stupid that will jeopardize everything. I would feel better if I knew your plans"

" I will tell you when it's done. Until then relax and let's enjoy this time we have together"

She moved towards me and stopped when she was close. She stood at her tippy toes and brushed her lips on mine. That was the incentive I needed before I wrapped my hand around her waist and the other fisted in her hair. I pulled her to me and devoured her lips.
