Chapter 15 How did you know where I live?
Ellie spotted the man right away as he strolled past her. It was the same guy she'd seen on the bus before, the one who looked eerily like her husband. Instinctively, she glanced towards the bus door. After an old lady got on, the guy followed, tossing his change into the fare box before turning around. His eyes locked onto Ellie's.
Her heart did a little flip, and she quickly pretended to be super interested in the view outside. But the guy just grinned and made his way over, ignoring the empty seat in front of her and plopping down right next to her.
This move made Ellie tense up, especially since the bus was way emptier today. She furrowed her brows and turned her head, only to find him giving her a shy smile.
"Uh... no one's sitting here, right?" he asked.
Ellie didn't say a word, just shook her head slightly.
"Cool," he said, smiling and nodding, like he wasn't sure if he was talking to her or himself.
Ellie was speechless. She had a gut feeling this guy was trying to chat her up. Just as she was about to turn away, he suddenly looked up at her.
"Hey, do you live in the Golden Apartment up ahead?"
Ellie's alert mode kicked in. Was she being paranoid? She shot him a cold, cautious look. "How do you know where I live?"
The guy seemed taken aback by her reaction. His smile froze, and after a moment of hesitation, he nervously raised his hand, gesturing, "No, no, it's not like that. I just saw you get off at that stop before, so I wondered if you lived there..."
Under Ellie's scrutinizing and annoyed gaze, the guy's voice got softer and softer until it just trailed off. He awkwardly pressed his lips together and then stood up, gripping the back of the seat in front of him. "Sorry for bothering you..."
Ellie still didn't say anything, just kept staring at him. The guy turned sideways, and finally sat down in the empty seat in front of her. Then she relaxed his furrowed brow a bit.
Whether it was her gut feeling or his reaction, he didn't seem like a bad guy. But Ellie wasn't about to let her guard down. It wasn't about him being a bad person or having bad intentions; the flirting was just too obvious... Plus, she was married...
Thinking of George's apologetic face, Ellie's fingers tightened. Suddenly, the guy turned his head to look at her.
"Um... I'm really not a stalker. I live near the bus stop we just passed, and I've seen you a few times."
He explained urgently, his voice low, repeating "I" like a broken record. Ellie stayed silent.
The guy hesitated for a moment, then pulled out his wallet and handed her a business card.
"This is my business card. I take this bus from home to work. If you ever need to verify, I'm heading to work now."
Ellie naturally didn't take the card. She just glanced at it, and her heart skipped a beat. Latin Dance Training Center teacher, Isaac... She immediately thought of her cousin and quickly checked the address of the training center.
Yep, it was the new building next to the commercial center. She was speechless. Her cousin had been rushing to class earlier, and he should be going to work now... Could this be the handsome teacher her cousin mentioned?
