Chapter 75 What he Wants...

So, George was right on the money. Whether it was the crib across from his old place or the one in their new hood, Isaac had it all set up way ahead of time.

Right now, he was sprawled out on the couch, puffing on a cig, eyes glued to his laptop screen showing footage from the balcony cams.

The phone rang a few times before someone finally picked up, sounding all confused.

"Yo, is this Assistant Lee?" The dude on the other end perked up immediately.

"Isaac?"
Hearing this name, the old man in the wheelchair by the big window opened his eyes.

"Man, Assistant Lee, you got a sharp memory. Just from my voice, you knew it was me."

"You got some nerve calling! You got a death wish or something?!"

"Whoa, Assistant Lee, chill out. Who's tired of living? Even Mr. King wants to keep going after all these years in a wheelchair, so why would I be any different?"

"You—"

"Alright, alright, Assistant Lee, I'm calling for Mr. King, not you. Once I'm done with him, if there's time, maybe we can chat."

Assistant Lee was fuming, but he put the phone down and covered the speaker with his hand.

He turned to the old man and said, "Mr. King, it's Isaac. He says he's got something to tell you, but I don't think—"

The old man raised a hand to cut him off and weakly said, "Give me the phone."

Assistant Lee's fingers tightened around the phone as he got up from the couch.

Standing up, he respectfully handed the phone to the old man next to him.

The old man took it, gazing out the floor-to-ceiling window at the distant horizon where the sea met the sky.

He brought the phone to his ear and said, "Hello?"

"Hello, Mr. King. You must be overseas if you can still take my call."

"Yeah, just got to Pattaya yesterday and settled in. How about you?"

"I'm chilling at near Captain Stone's place, waiting for them to get back."

The old man's eyes, which seemed lost in thought, suddenly sharpened. "Isaac, I don't have much time."

Isaac chuckled. "So, Mr. Baker, got any other options besides trusting me?"

"That's why I picked up your call. Let's cut the crap and get to the point... Ahem... Let's talk business."

"Give me some time, and I'll get you what you want."

The old man frowned, staying quiet for a moment before speaking. "What about you? Seems like you're after more than just cash."

"Heh, Mr. King, don't sweat it. I'll bring out what you want and what I want at the same time."

The old man's eyebrows twitched slightly as he slowly closed his eyes. "In the last game, your goal was to flush me out."

Mr. King did have a sharp mind.
He continued, "Something bigger than the Syndicate is making me come out?"

"Hmm, that thing isn't just unimportant to Mr. King, it's a huge headache. If you get mixed up with it, you'll have to come out, and the sooner, the better."

"Heh, now you've got me curious."

Isaac smirked. "You won't be curious for long."

With that, he hung up and put down his phone because he saw George's car slowly rolling up on the screen, and the person in the passenger seat... was the one he wanted...
He was about to the wife of Captain Stone from the Homeland Bureau of the relevant department. If he hadn't first forced the old man out, he would never have gotten involved in this mess. Most likely, he would have backed out as soon as he saw them, sending them away to protect himself.

Now that the old man was already being watched by the Homeland Bureau and was out in the open, there's nothing left to seek except the prescription. Those external possessions were no longer of any use. He could only obediently serve as her support, arranging an escape route for her.
