Make you believe

The witch nonetheless smiled. “Did you think your Father was righteous, do you think he would let you go to the Waterfalls if he were alive? He would probably fight to keep you back in his overrated Shore just so you would not discover what you are and the level of your power.”

“What do you mean?” I asked.

The witch walked ahead of me and lifted her glass to the air, making it vanish at that instant. Then she closed her eyes, faced me and stretched out her hands, her lips moving slowly, yet I could not reckon what she muttered.

In that moment, a large, glowing ball slowly formed in her stretched hands. It was right before me, so I could see the reflection of my fuming face on it. From some books I have read, I needed no one to tell me that this was certainly the Crystal ball, which the Witch Queen or her first-ranked subject controlled; a ball that can record the events of the past and even tell the future if handled by an extremely powerful witch.

Not only that, the ball can also reveal things that are currently happening, meaning that the witch could easily see someone’s present action, even if it was faraway. However, it had its own limitations too.

Deveron opened her eyes and allowed the Crystal ball to hold itself in the air. It was an amazing view, yet this was not the time to ponder on unnecessary facts, as I might be treading a path to know the reason behind my presence here.

The witch gestured to me to come closer to the ball and I did, my eyes fixating on the snow-like particles that were beginning to form around the ball. Deveron walked around me, “In the years past, the Demons and Witches have been mortal enemies, as the Vampires and Werewolves also are. I am sure you are aware of that. However, for centuries, the Witches and Werewolves have had an alliance that slowly led to us being under the subjection of the Wolves,” The witch explained as I stared at the Crystal ball even if I could not see anything else aside the glowing white light surrounding it.

“Nevertheless, that is not what we are aiming at. In the era of your known Father, the Demon Lord, he made an alliance with the Vampire King at the time when the Vampires still existed on the face of the earth. His very close friend who happened to be Alpha Gar, the Leader of this Pack, never approved of his acquaintance’s alliance. He told your Father about it, but the latter never listened.”

“How am I sure that you are saying the truth and not just trying to lure me to your side?” I asked, not so sure of this woman’s sincerity.

She smiled, the kind of lopsided smile that Phyllis always had when she had something throbbing to say, only that hers never gave out the calm aura that Deveron’s did. “The Crystal ball has existed for centuries and is passed to the hands of the most powerful witch from time to time― I represent my Queen. Nevertheless, it has seen so much in its existence, I can therefore assure you that it never tells lies. Your decision lies in your hands if you want to know the truth or not.”

I thought of this for a while, I did want to know the truth, but if it was not really the truth, then it was not worth it. Still, I nodded, assuring the witch that I was ready to hear her supposed truth. She understood my gesture and came to stand behind me. “Sit down and close your eyes,” she muttered as she reached out to place her hands on both sides of my head. I obeyed.

An unseen personality precipitously pulled me from reality. The feeling of falling like the stars from the sky invaded me, as I could not see anything clear in my unknown mystic Journey from the clouds.

Then everything suddenly became calm, I could even hear the echoing sounds of an ant’s steps in my head. Blurred images gradually became clear and I saw Father plot an attack on the Werewolf territory with the Vampire King. I noted their reason for that was the height at which the werewolves grew stronger and dominant, especially with the witches’ obeisance at the tip of the Alpha’s fingers.

In all, they feared he would go against them and raid their kingdoms, which they first did. Sadly, the battle did not favor Father as he was poisoned, yet spared. Everything became unclear again, and then I saw Vampires screaming in open earth, under the rays of sunlight, wiping them out from existence.

Nevertheless, the tale was not clear to me. Everything seemed to be a fragment of the main story and did not really give out what I wanted to know― why she alleged that Father tried to hide my true nature from me. Of course, only that could gratify that what I just saw was literal. Besides, why should I believe a witch, Father had clearly stated that they can go any length to get what they want. I am a victim of Phyllis after all.

“I know what you think. Nonetheless, whatever the Demon Lord told you, it is because he wants you to believe that. The witches are not what you think they are― your so-called Father fabricated all his lies to make you believe, just so this could be prevented.”

My eyes popped open, “What exactly is to be prevented?” I blurted, swiveling the chair to face Deveron. “I cannot believe you. I will believe what my Father told me.”

Deveron laughed, but it did not seem like she laughed because something sounded funny, she seemed to be precisely mocking me. She let go of my head and came to stand beside me. “Do not tell me you still believe that the demon is your Father. Think of it yourself; is it possible for a male Demon to father a Wolf, or for a male Wolf to father a Demon?” Deveron asked, leaving me totally lost for words.
