♥ Chapter 77♥
Alessio Vecchio.
Four months later.
Four months have passed since that hellish night. Salvatore's torture still echoes in my mind, but now my thoughts turn to Isabella and our baby. When I returned home that night and saw her sleeping peacefully, I felt like I had done the right thing. Since then, my life has focused on taking care of her and our son.
Each morning began with the same routine: helping her shower, changing her bandages, and ensuring her comfort. Salvatore's wound healed well, and seeing the shine return to his eyes was an indescribable reward. The hands that once caused pain now offer affection and comfort.
I accompanied Isabella for regular check-ups to ensure that she and the baby were well. Taylor always gave us good news, which was a huge relief. I had left the mafia duties to Dante and Saulo, allowing me to focus completely on my family. This time away from business made me appreciate what really mattered.
I developed a deep affection for our son, feeling every movement in his belly and talking to him. With each kick, I felt a growing connection. Isabella and our baby became my redemption, a light that illuminated the darkest corners of my soul.
I started the day early, preparing breakfast for my queen and spending the day together, making plans for the future. At night, after making sure she was comfortable in bed, I allowed myself to relax, knowing she was safe and happy. Each ultrasound showed the little miracle in the making, and each heartbeat was music to my ears.
I realized that no matter how dark I was, there was room for light, which came from Isabella and our baby. They were my life and my purpose, and I would do anything to protect them. They are the reason I fight, and I will never forget that.
02:20 '' Alessio's house. ''Fourth. ''Portevecchio.
At that moment, I look at Isabella, who makes an adorable pout. It's two in the morning, and she wakes me up, saying she wants to eat pudding.
'' I'll send someone to buy it. '' I murmur, running a hand over my tired face.
She shakes her head, her eyes shining with that cute expression I can't resist.
'' The baby wants Daddy to buy it for us. '' He says, his voice soft and convincing.
I ran my hand over my face again, exasperated, but surrendered. I know we'll have to go to the hospital later to finally find out the sex of the baby, but here she is, waking me up at this time of the morning and wanting pudding. Furthermore, I can't deny anything when she looks at me like that.
'' Okay, I'll go. '' I say, resigned.
I get up, put on some casual clothes, and grab my wallet. I leave the room carefully so as not to make any noise and go downstairs. Upon leaving the mansion, I find Dante and Saulo talking. They stop immediately when they see me, their expressions turning serious.
'' Both of you, come with me. ''I order, my voice is firm.
Dante and Saulo quickly agreed and got in the car with me. Saulo, always curious, asks:
'' Where are we going, my lord?
I cross my legs and let out a sigh, responding with a tone that shows both exhaustion and acceptance.
'' Let's go after the damn pudding.
Dante and Saulo look at each other, clearly confused.
'' Isabella is craving pudding and wants me to go buy it. '' I explain, trying to maintain patience. ''Now, let’s go.
Dante starts the car, and we start looking for somewhere that is open at that time. As we drive through the deserted streets, my thoughts wander. It's impossible not to feel exhausted, but at the same time, there's a certain sweetness to it all. Isabella and our baby are everything to me. Every little sacrifice is worth it. I look out the window, watching the city lights pass by, and I smile slightly. They are worth any effort, even a pudding hunt in the middle of the night.
We drove for over an hour, but every place we tried was closed. I start to feel the frustration rising inside me. It's three in the morning, and we still haven't found anything.
'' It can't be that hard to find a pudding. '' I grumble, running a hand over my face in exasperation. ''Let’s go to the neighboring city.
Dante nods and turns the car towards the road. The journey is long and silent, and, my patience is being tested with each passing minute. Finally, around four thirty in the morning, we saw an open sweet shop.
'' Finally. '' I murmur, feeling a mixture of relief and tiredness.
We go into the store, and I buy the damn pudding. We go back to the mansion, and it's already five in the morning when we arrive. I climb the stairs quietly, trying not to make any noise. Upon entering the room, I see Isabella sleeping peacefully. I sigh, exhausted, and place the pudding box on the desk.
I approach the bed and lie down next to her. Furthermore, I run my hand over my face, feeling tired take over. I look at her and whisper.
'' You wake me up at two in the morning to buy pudding, and now you're sleeping peacefully. What an evil woman!
I smile sideways and close my eyes, trying to get some rest before we have to go to the hospital. Isabella and our baby are worth every minute of effort and every sacrifice. Even though I'm exhausted, I feel peaceful happiness with her, knowing that I'm doing everything for our family.
