Chapter 37

Alan Reyes
"Oscar!" Danielle called my son who's running towards the water when we just arrived at the beach. Danielle took out his swimsuit and sunscreen from her bag. I smiled looking at her and still can't believe that she's the same person 5 years ago.
"Come here!" She gestured Oscar to come but he's not listening.
"Oscar Reyes!" I called him and I felt Danielle's body tense beside me. Oscar turned to me and since he's still not listening, I got up and picked him up. He giggled and I sat beside Danielle again.
Danielle started to change his clothes and put on some sunscreen. She put on his life jacket on and let him go swim by himself.
"I want to change his last name to mine." I said to Danielle and she turned to me.
"Alan, you just came into his life a week ago. Yes, you're his dad but don't you think you should take it slow? He's a 4 years old kid not a teenage boy. He needs to get used to him having a dad." She said as she looked straight into my eyes.
"But I don't want to take it slow. I want you and Oscar to officially be mine, you can't blame me for doing this. If you didn't hide him for me, maybe he would live a life that he deserves.. which growing up with a dad." I said and she looked hurt. She turned away and she pushed me to sit on the chair next to hers. She kept her eyes on Oscar all the time when I fixed mine on her.
"He's my only saviour when my life was crumbling down. The revenge, the trauma, the killing spree, work, you and even my dad. I love him so much and he really reminds me of you." She said without taking her eyes off Oscar.
"Yes, it was selfish of me for not telling you and for not letting Oscar knows that he has a dad. I never thought I will see you again, I thought I will live my life with Oscar. I never even think about returning to New York because I was so afraid to bump into you."
"I know that's you're suffering from the shock too. Your father, mother, me and all the dark facts that you have to accept." She said as she turned to me.
"I'm sorry for everything, I really do. I won't let Oscar stop seeing his dad, he can see you whenever he wants. I can drop him in New York to stay with you and then pick him up later on once you two spend times together but I don't think we can be together, Alan."
"Why? Is it because my dad-"
"You deserve better." She cut me.
"I'm the girl who killed some of your colleagues. I killed them with my own hands. I shot them, killed them, burned them and hunt them to their death. Even I'm so afraid that once day Oscar will know that his mom was a killer." She said as her eyes started to fill with tears.
"You killed them for a reason, you didn't just randomly killing people. You wanted justice for your family even though your ways of doing it wrong." I said and she nodded as she wiped her tears.
"I know and now.. I'm trying my best to be the best mom for Oscar. I want him to live happily and quietly." She said and I grabbed her hand. I pulled her to sit on my lap and I hugged her. I patted her back trying to calm her down.
"You can't be selfish now, Danielle. You have to understand my feelings too. I've been longing for you and I was suffering for 5 years. The reason that I'm still sane because I know you're out there somewhere and I want you so badly that I did my best to find you." I said and she looked straight into my eyes. I wiped her tears and kissed her cheek.
"I'm going to make you happy. I'm going to make Oscar happy too. We have to throw away the past and not remember it anymore. We can live our lives quitely and happily. We don't need to go back to New York, we can stay here or wherever you want in this world." I said as I caressed her cheek.
"I promise you. I swore that I will take care of you and Oscar with all my life. I'm not losing you again, not for the second time." I added and I slowly leaned my head to kiss her. I kissed her slowly and she kissed me back with the same pace.
"I love you, Danielle." I said as I drew back. We both looked at each other for a moment and then she cupped my face kissing me hard and fast.
"Aaaaa!" We both turned to Oscar and it was like he found something or maybe caught something. Danielle quickly got up and we both ran towards him. I picked Oscar up immediately and Danielle looked at the water to find little turtles. I let out a breath of relieve and I turned to Oscar.
"Why did you scream?" Danielle asked Oscar.
"It was going to bite me." Oscar said as he held on to ne tightly. His eyes widen when Danielly picked the turtles out from the water.
"Mommy noooo!" He screamed and Danielle kept teasing him. Oscar went crazy in my arms and we both laughing.
"They're nice, Oscar. They don't bite."
"Noooo.. I wanna go back.. I wanna go back!" Oscar screamed on my ears making me taking him back to our seat. I put him down and he's hugging my leg while looking at his mom. Danielle put the turtle down and walked back.
"You wanna go back home?" Danielle asked.
"No." He said as he shook his head.
"Let's swim together." I said as I took off my shirt. I picked Oscar up and turned to Danielle. She gave me a nod letting me swim with Oscar.
"Nooooo don't go to the waterrrr." Oscar started to freak out.
"It's okay, buddy. Daddy will hold on to you.." I said as I walked into the water slowly. Oscar slowly stopped fighting back when we both in the waters. He started to look around and I chuckled.
"Turtles are good animals, they're cute." I said and Oscar held on to me tightly. I chuckled looking at me.
"I wanna go back.. I wanna go back.." He said and I brought him out from the water. Danielle was busy putting on her sunscreen and I put Oscar on the seat.
"I'm going for a swim." Danielle said and I turned to her raising my eyebrows. She took off her sun dress revealing her only in bikinis. My eyes widen and before she could stand up, I grabbed her wrist pulling her to me.
"What the?!"
"Let's go to the waters together." I said, grabbing Danielle with one hand and picked Oscar up with the other hand. Oscar was a little bit scared at first but knowing his mom joining in, he's starting to be more calm. We walked slowly to the waters and Danielle started splashing water to us.
Oscar suddenly wanted to go down and he walked to his mom. I smiled at my little boy as I put my arm around Danielle's waist.
"Can I stay at your house tonight? My hotel room is.. not cozy." I said as I turned to Danielle.
"You wish!" She smirked.
