Chapter Four
Clarissa and Devon arrived at Amelia's house. Amelia was really excited to see her again, it's been two years since they saw each other. "I missed you so much." She said as she gave a hug to Clarissa who opened her arms wide to receive her.
"Me too girlfriend." Clarissa answered.
Devon and Xen hugged each other before going to sit on the kitchen table while waiting for the food to be served.
"Where is Kia?" Asked Clarissa.
"He went to school." Amelia answered as she gazed at the clock. "He should be back soon." She turned her attention back to the food she was dishing out.
"How is your daughter, Lisa?" Xen asked.
"She's home. She is not feeling too well and that's why she couldn't go to school with Livy."
Amelia stopped dishing out the food and Xen's eyes opened in shock. "Who is Livy?" They both asked.
"When I said I had something to tell you, well, this is it." Clarissa answered with a frown.
Amelia dished out the food and she gave each of them a portion before sitting to listen to the story. After everyone had sat down, Clarissa began. "Two years ago, Devon and I with our girl, Lisa went to the outskirts of Texas just for a little fun, getting there, a strange thing happened."
****Flashback****
Lisa was singing and dancing when the car abruptly came to a halt. Clarissa and Lisa almost bumped their head on the seat in front of them. "Dev, are you trying to kill us?" She screamed.
Devon laughed. "Should I have driven you ladies over to the fire?" He asked.
Fire? Clarissa wondered. Looking outside the window, she could see a house being set on fire and the crowds that were standing in front of the burning house. A fire service was there putting out the fire. Clarissa held Lisa's hands and she came down from the vehicle. Devon followed after he had turned off the engine. They both went closer to the scene.
"She deserves to die!" They could hear people shouting.
Clarissa and Devon prevailed in getting to the front and there they saw a little girl who looks like is sixteen years old, weeping and begging to be saved.
"What are we waiting for? It's either we kill her or we burn her to death." A husky man who seems to be in his early forties said and others agreed.
The moment they grabbed the girl, she looked at all of them and when I eyes caught that of Lisa, she murmured a word to her but Lisa couldn't make out what she was saying because of all the noise. "I can't hear you." She murmured back to her.
Clarissa noticed the communication between the two of them so she asked her daughter, "what's wrong?"
"I think she is trying to tell me something." Lisa answered. Clarissa looked at the girl in front of her who is about to be slained and burnt.
"Can I be permitted to do something first before you destroy me?" She asked them with tears in her eyes.
"Do whatever you want to do." So the girl went closer to Clarissa and whispered into her ears. "If you don't want to die, I will advise you get out of here immediately." She turned to Lisa and smiled at her before she was dragged by the man in charge of burning her.
Clarissa held Lisa's hand and she ran and so did Devon.
The girl saw that they were miles away and she closed her eyes and started singing. Everyone who heard her voice began to scream and shout but that didn't stop her, she continued to sing increasing the pitch and the fire that the fire service was putting off was rekindled. They had to run for their lives.
After everyone had left her, she got down on her knees and started to cry. She was about to leave when she saw someone running towards her direction. She stopped and she saw it was the girl she met earlier. Lisa didn't know why but she ran to hug her. "Thank you, " were the words she whispered to her.
"How did you?" Clarissa asked.
"You looked like you weren't from around here and I didn't't want to harm you." She answered.
"What happened?" Devon asked.
The girl smiled sheepishly and said, "lets just assume I caused a little accident."
"Your parents?"
"Dead. I used my voice to kill them unintentionally but these people thought I did it intentionally, I just had to give them a piece of my mind."
Clarissa looked at Devon and it was like he understood what the look meant. He shook his head. "What's your name?" Clarissa asked the girl who was playing with Lisa.
"Livy Elle." The girl answered.
Clarissa looked at Devon once again. "Come on babe, she has no where else to go and if she is still here, those people will try to hunt her again." Clarissa pleaded.
"She has a killing voice, Claire."
"I know but we can keep it under control...come on, please?"
"Fine but the moment she uses her voice to harm any of my family, she's out."
"Deal!"
Clarissa answered.
"Mom, does that mean she is going to stay with us?" Lisa asked.
Clarissa looks at the girl and smiled, "if she wants to." She answered.
Lisa turned to the girl,, "will you love to come live with us?" She asked.
"Can I?"
"Only if you promise no singing." Clarissa said.
"But..." The girl was about to argue but because of Lisa, she agreed. She nodded and they took her home.
***Reality***
"She's been staying with us since then." Devon added.
"I am so proud of you guys. I just got reminded of when we used to be ghosthunters."
"We still are." Clarissa said.
"I would love to see her someday." Amelia said.
"I will make sure to bring her with Lisa when next we come."
"Can we eat now? I am starving." Xen said while rubbing his stomach. They all smiled before they began to eat their food.
