Chapter One
Kia's P.O.V
I got ready for my new school at Elite Academy. I have no idea why my parents wouldn't let me attend MSA as they did but nevertheless, I said to myself that they knew best. I stared at the mirror talking to myself while I ran a comb to my hairstyling it in a way that made me look like Justin Bieber when he was younger and cuter.
My name is Kia Xen and I am eighteen years old. I guess life really begins at eighteen, right? I am the son of Xen Hush and Amelia Chestnut, they were once part of a team called GhostHunters. When I was a kid, I remember disappearing to strange places when I need an escape from my mom's rod or when I perhaps want to tease my parents, especially my grandpa, Andrea. My mom told me to keep it a secret and no one must find out that I can see ghosts or disappear like one, so all my life I have been hiding this hoping one day I won't get to hide anymore.
"Kia!" I heard my mom call from downstairs.
"I will be down soon," I yelled back.
I grabbed my bag and hung it over my shoulders. I looked at the mirror one last time. I smiled at how cute I was with golden brown eyes, a high nose bridge, dimples at both sides of my cheeks and V-shaped pink lips let's not talk about what I have got underneath this uniform.
"Kia! Don't make me come up there."
I guess I will see you later then. I winked at the mirror before stepping out of my room, slamming the door after me. I ran down the stairs only to be greeted by my mom's angry face.
"You look ugly when you are angry, didn't dad ever tell you that?" I pecked her cheeks and disappeared towards where my dad was before she could even raise her hands at me.
"How many times have I told you not to disappear and appear?" she asked with her arms folded across her chest.
"I lost counts but come on, no one is going to know," I whined.
She came closer to me touching my face and helping me adjust my collar and tie. "I don't want anything to happen to you, Kia" Her voice sounded so sad.
I was told they lost some important people and that's why she is scared of losing me but the truth is, I really don't care about danger or anything. I have always known the world to be cruel and that's why I have decided to man up and lost become a timid person. People might call it pride or whatsoever but I call it survival.
I held her hand. "Mom, I am fine, and trust me, nothing is going to happen to me. I can take perfect care of myself. Stop worrying."
"Worrying is what your mother knows how to do best." My dad shook his head grabbing his car keys. "Let's go, Kia. I will be dropping you in school today, but you will be going with the school bus tomorrow."
"Can't I just go with you, always?" I asked.
"No." answered dad in his deep voice.
"What if I disap.." The look my mom gave me made me choke on my words. "...I was just joking." I hugged her. "I promise to be careful."
She nodded with a smile, but I could still see a glimpse of worry in her eyes. "If anything happens, let me know."
My dad was getting frustrated already. he came to pull me away from my mom's arms. "I will be home soon." He kissed mom before pulling me out of the house.

I sat down on the sofa beside me holding my beating heart. I remember becoming a ghosthunter at the age of eighteen and seeing my son turning eighteen reminds me of a lot of things about those periods. I know he isn't going to be like me, but then I feel he will and I am scared.
The beeping on my phone gave me a scare. I grabbed it and saw it was a text from Clarissa telling me she will be coming over with Devon and that t was important.
I texted her back letting her know we are home and they are free to come around when they are ready.
I sent a message to Xen telling him about it and he replied back saying he will get home as soon as he drops Kia off.
I dropped my phone and stood to look at my kitchen. I have a lot to prepare since I have gluttons coming over joined with the glutton I have at home. I went over to the kitchen to prepare what needs to be prepared besides I was starving. I made corn cereals which I ate before preparing the main dishes. I would have wanted Xen here but I know he and Kia would be having a man-to-man talk. For a reason, I am glad I gave birth to a male and not a female.

The car abruptly came to a halt making me jerk forward. I looked over at dad and I could see him smiling which means he did it intentionally. "Want me to have an accident on my first day? Mom is going to kill you."
He laughed. "Make sure you don't tell her."
"Bribe me first." I stretched my hands expecting some cash but instead, he slammed his hands on mine. Stingy.
I was about to get down when he pulled me back. "You heard what your mom said." I nodded. I heard that countless times even when I was in her belly. "If anything happens..."
"I should let you know immediately. I got it." I cut in.
"No girlfriends." I looked at him giving him an are-you-serious-kind of look. "You heard me."
"Well, can I at least mess with them a little?" I asked raising my eyebrows at him.
"No. I want you to concentrate on your studies and find something you like doing."
I got steeped out of the car. "See you later dad."
I left before he even started talking.
I arrived at the school and climbed the stairs that led into the school hall. It was really noisy and crowded. I could see students of different colors, shapes, and sizes. I was staring at this particular girl with an hourglass figure, tanned skin, and long curly hair when I felt something or someone knock me over almost making me lose my balance but good thing I was strong enough to withstand the force.
"I am so sorry I was in a haste and I didn't see you there." said the voice with a little sadness in her tone. "I was just on my way to this class of mine and I lost my way and sometimes I wished they never changed some of the buildings in the school that way I won't have to get lost all the time. Am I talking too much?" She asked when she noticed I was just staring at her. "Sorry about that. I can't help it you know...I really like talking because it is the only thing..." She swallowed back her words when she realized she was still talking. "I am Livy Elle." She stretched out her hand with a sheepish smile. I was about to shake her hand when the bell rang and she pulled her hand away. "I have to go. See you around?" Without waiting for an answer, she left.
I hope we never cross paths. I hate talkative. I brought out my jotter and made a list of people to avoid, "Livy Elle." I wrote her name before sliding the jotter and pen back into my bag.
