Chapter 34

Amelia stood by the door of Damon's bedroom for some lengthy seconds before entering as she was using that time to self-discipline herself, more like trying to get her feelings and emotions in check so she doesn't do anything stupid with Damon that she might regret later. She had unintentionally told him she loves him and she doesn't know what silly thing her body would do next, especially sleeping inside the same room with him for the night.

As she slowly entered the bedroom the first thing she saw was the huge, king size bed at the middle of the room then her eyes drifted to the side of the room where Damon was standing staring outside the window.

She didn't think he knew she had come in because she was pretty quiet with her steps plus he was backing her. She slowly walked further in the room and stood close by the bed unsure of what to do next. Whether to sit on the bed or lay down on it.

“There is hot water running, if you want to bathe," Damon suddenly said.

So he knew she was in? He must have picked up her scent, she thought.

“Yeah, I will like that." She said and he turned around.

“The bathroom is over there. You will find sheets of clean dry towels there too and am I right to assume you know how to switch from cold to hot?"

“Yes I do, thanks." She smiled softly.

He stood watching her with his beautiful ocean eyes and Amelia's cheeks heated up.

“Can you please turn around so I can undress?" She said but he continued staring at her. More like studying her.

Normally Amelia usually doesn't care if someone sees her nakedness as far as the person doesn't touch her or try to sexually assault her. Growing up as a wolf she is used to the feeling of stripping naked in front of people as a shapeshifter that she is. Generally all wolves are not too bothered of stripping naked or their nakedness being seen by others but at this moment she was feeling extremely shy the way Damon was staring at me.

Doesn't he want to turn around? Amelia could hear the beat of my heart increase inside her chest but she didn't know if it was because she was afraid or excited. It could be any of the two or it could be both of them. A deadly combination.

However thankfully he slowly turned around, backing her. “You can take off your clothes now."

“Thank you," she said and slowly started undressing herself until she was standing naked.

“You know I have seen your nakedness before, right?"
He said and she could see a cocky smile cripped up at the side of his face from where she stood behind and instantly her cheeks became all flushed as she remembered.

He was right!

She had almost forgotten about that detail. The day she encountered him close to the woods she was in her wolf's form but then she transformed to her human form thereby standing completely naked before him.

Oh no! Her cheeks heated up even more and she felt a lot embarrassed. She quickly ran off into the bathroom and locked the door behind her. Resting her back on the door she covered her face with her hands feeling really embarrassed but suddenly she had this urge to laugh as she found the whole thing funny, stupid and also sweet.

“Haha.." she laughed softly, smiling uncontrollably like a goat...

Meanwhile, back at the council of the Red Blood.

After some lengthy minutes discussing amongst themselves the five leaders of the council came out from their private meeting and Lord Cassius stepped forward to address the crowd.

“Decorum brothers," he said and everywhere became calm as he was given full attention.
“The elders of the council have come to a decision on how to tackle this new threat on our doorstep and I believe we have come up with the best solution," he paused to look at all their faces before he continued.

“In order to tackle this new threat we will have to make a deal with the devil just like we did before. We have decided to seek help from the witches in this fight."

There was an eruption of disapproval murmurs in the hall once Lord Cassius finished speaking but one person was bold enough to speak out.

“I don't think that's the right decision my Lord," Elisha said and Lord Cassius frowned.

“And why is that so, Sir Elisha?" He asked.

“It's common knowledge that the witches can't stand our guts. They hate us if not more so than the wolves. It won't be wise seeking them for help," Elisha replied.

“Have you forgotten so soon how we were able to get this town in the first place? Have you all forgotten how we came to achieve this great feat?" He said.

Elisha, including the rest that were murmuring their disapproval, suddenly became quiet and none of them could give a reply.

“The witches. Yes, they are the ones that helped us claim this town and defeat the wolves and without their help none of these would have been possible," Lord Cassius gave a reply to his question.
“So tell me how it is wrong to go back to the very source that helped us achieve all of these?" He gestured with his hands.

“Yes I know." Elisha began.
“There is no denying the witches played a vital role in us claiming this town and the assassination of the Alpha but we vampires were the ones who actually did the most. We are the ones who risked our lives out there on the battlefield. We are the ones who lost brothers in the quest of victory. So we owe this achievement more to ourselves than the witches plus we know very well witches never help for free there is always a clause attached for their assistant."

“No one helps for free, Sir Elisha." Lord Cassius said.

“Of course, payment is truly needed after a service but placing tricky conditions and demands are not and this is what the witches are known best for. Remember the condition they gave to us for their help even though they were hugely paid with silver and gold for the help they rendered?" Elisha said and Lord Cassius sighed softly before replying.

“The blood you shall have but the life you must keep."

“With that demand of theirs they crippled us. We are not to kill any humans from this town but we are free to drink their blood. How is that even possible?" Elisha said.

“What do you expect? They have to watch after their people. After all it's the duty of the witches to protect man from creatures like us and of course it's possible to drink the blood without taking the life and we all are living testimony to this." Lord Cassius replied.

“Where is the fun in that? Humans are food to us just as cattles are food to them. I don't see any cattle telling humans to drink only the milk and leave their lives. Even if they are able to speak their opinion won't matter so why should the human's opinion matter? Meeting the witches for help once again will only make them more powerful and they will use it as an opportunity to interfere into vampire business with their unrealistic demands," Elisha said and once again the whole hall was filled with murmuring sounds as a large segment of the crowd were in support of Elisha.

“Silence," Lord Cassius called for order and the whole place went quiet then he turned his attention to Elisha.
“I understand what you are saying, Sir Elisha but what I have said is final. We will seek the help of the witches to take down this new threat and if anyone has a problem with this then such a person or persons will have to face the wrath of the Red Blood Council." With that Lord Cassius walked away and so did the other four council leaders.

“Bloody cowards," Elisha said in an undertone and his face had a thinking frown.

“What are you thinking of?" His friend, James asked.

“These leaders will lead us to our doom. They are not competent to lead us, they have become lovers of the wolves and puppets of the witches." Elisha replied.

“You are right but what can we do? They have all the power and support from the vampire community." He said and Elisha turned to face him.

“Then we will have to take that power and support away from them," he said and then an evil smile formed on his face.

I kept rolling in my bed as I lay with my eyes closed but I couldn't sleep, how can I when he is the only thing I think of?

“Let me in," I heard his voice.

“Damon," I called out softly as I opened my eyes but there was nobody in the room.

“Jane, you are going crazy." I spoke to myself.

I have missed him so much that I am now hearing his voices in my head. I have to see him, I just have to see him.

I climbed down the bed and got dressed up and then left my apartment heading to where I hope I will find Damon, at that spot he saved me but it's pretty late and my sense of reasoning is telling me this is a bad idea but I really don't care. I am just so desperate to see him again.
