[Ragnar's pov]
"I'm sorry, Ragnar," Zilver says, his voice quiet. "I know this is hard to hear, but you need to face the truth. Jade is in danger, and you need to protect her. And if you could not then she would have to accept her lycan mate and the bond with you will be nullified." As he spoke of the danger that lurking around her, the threat this new mate of Jade's might pose to me, anger and protectiveness mingled in a storm within my chest.
I shook my head, feeling lost and alone. "I don't know what to do," I spoke with my voice barely above a whisper. Torn and feeling betrayed I had no idea what to do and how to proceed with that new information which was beyond my understanding. My world had turned upside down all of a sudden and there was nobody I could trust now anymore.
"We will figure it out together," Zilver responded with an assurance which I truly hated, while placing a hand on my shoulder. "Just don't give up hope." I glared at him and pushed his hand away to show me distrust and distaste about his behaviour. It was not that I wanted to hide it or something I wished that Zilver would see it and feel guilty about it.
"Who is this lycan mate of Jade?" I ask Zilver, trying to keep my voice steady. "Do you know his name? Where to find him? Tell me and don’t fucking try to lie to me, Zilver!” I threatened him mildly knowing that he might hide things from me one more time. However, I was sure that something needed to be done, if that mate wanted to claim her he might give up because of her pregnancy.
"I'm not sure if I should tell you or not," Zilver hesitated before speaking further, his brow furrowed. "His name is Kaldir, he is the lycan king. The strongest of all.” Zilver's words were heavy with the weight of truth, and as they settled into the depths of my understanding. The revelation came with a mix of awe and apprehension as I knew the name was familiar.
Kaldir, the figure of authority and power in the lycan world. It dawned upon me that he was the same person whom we met in the forest, he had the same name too. A disrupted sigh left my lips as I realised he came there to distract me so his men could pull Jade out of the car.
"Thank you," I responded while feeling a glimmer of hope to see Jade once again. "I need to find out where this guy is and what he wants. I won't let him hurt Jade or our child." My adamant words carried a resolute conviction, a silent promise to myself and to Jade. The thought of her safety and now the safety of our child added to it made my resolve stronger.
"I know you won't," Zilver assured while giving me a small smile. "We will do whatever it takes to keep you both safe." As the words left my lips earlier, I felt a surge of protectiveness, a fierce commitment to protect the ones I loved, from harm. The strength of my emotions was extremely undetectable, the my connection to Jade and the life we had created together grew stronger.
"I'm sorry for keeping this from you, Ragnar," Zilver again apologised to me while looking at me with regret in his eyes. "I was trying to protect her, but I see now that I should have been more honest with you." He affirmed and in that moment, our shared understanding was beyond the words. The weight of the tough task ahead was clear, but so was the determination to bring them back home
"I appreciate that you realised it sooner, Zilver," I mocked while feeling a little more at ease. The weight of the revelation had been heavy on me, but his willingness to share it had caused me a measure of relief "But we need to act fast. We can't let this lycan mate of Jade's get to her before we do." That was the only thing I had been worried about and needed to sort out faster.
"I agree," Zilver immediately aided while nodding. "I will come with you to his Pack. Together, we can make sure that Jade and your child are safe." Zilver's immediate response resonated with affirmation and assurance, his nod a silent confirmation of our shared urgency. The gravity of the situation was clear, and his willingness to stand by my side was a comforting one.
"Thank you," I was still feeling grateful for Zilver's support. "I know what I would do without you. But I need you to be there to prevent us both from fighting physically.” Gratitude was laced in my words, a genuine acknowledgment of the support Zilver offered was something I appreciated. The idea of facing this challenge alone was not that great, and his presence by my side eased the burden.
Knowing that alpha Zilver had more knowledge of that unknown person named Kaldir. Though I had already seen him back there in the forest, it still disturbed me that he kidnapped Jade right under my nose. How dare he touch something which was mine!?
Thinking that again and again boiled my blood and since Zilver was a lycan himself and knew about the world more than me, it was wise to take him together with me to confront Kaldir. I knew I had to save Jade and stop that man from mating with her, I was unable to keep myself in control upon thinking that he might touch her.
"You don't have to worry about that," Zilver chuckled while giving me a reassuring smile. "Haha, I will always be here for you because of my sister.” He spoke with his voice tinged with a lightness that eases the seriousness of the moment. The shared understanding between us which has revived was there. After all, the matter involved his sister too who was my mate.
