A New Idea

DACIANA

Daciana gritted her teeth in pain, as she dragged the large pail of bucket out from the deep well, placing the bucket on the ground.

Sweat glistening atop her face, the hot afternoon sun shining down on her pale white white skin, burning her flesh, she heaved a large sigh of relief, as she stood up straight, her wet hands on her waist, taking the needed
break she had been craving.

Her hands were sore, her feets hurt, and every single part of her body was screaming in discomfort and torment, but there was nothing she could do to ease herself of this pain.

A tear flowing down her cheek, Daciana sat on a stone slab nearby, looking around her empty surrounding.

The only sounds she could hear, were the ones from the birds nearby, crickets hissing and snakes too.

She was the only one at home today, as Aunty Helene, and her daughters, had left for the market or wherever it is they seemed to have gone too.

Diana as usual had wanted staying back with her, but her mother had bluntly refused dragging her roughly by the hair, as Daciana watched, heartbreakingly.

Before leaving, Helene had given her instructions, on what to do and also the punishment that awaited her if she tried to disobey her orders.

Since the morn, break of day, she had woken up to kicks and chill cold water been poured on her, as Bianca had dragged her up from the bare floor where she slept on, and commanded her to start her house chores.

She had cooked, cleaned, and done every single thing that she was supposed to do, but to Helene, and her two wicked daughters it was never enough, and just when they were all about going out from the shack, they had dumped heaps upon heaps of clothes for her to wash, and they had also emptied all the drums in the house, and ordered her to wash, fetch and clean again the house they had scattered and turned in disarray.

With tears in her eyes, her bones aching tiredly, Daciana had only nodded her head in respect, because there was nothing else she could say or do again.

She dared not disobey their order, or else she would be starved as usual, or probably deny into the woods, to fetch sticks and herbs and she didn’t want to do any of that at all.

Sighing loudly, wiping some beads of sweat of her face again, Daciana stood up, carrying the pail bucket of water inside the house.

She poured the contents of the bucket, down the hollow drum in the kitchen, and just when she was about to walk outside to continue fetching her water, she heard some noise from outside.

She stopped dead on her tracks almost immediately, the bucket in her hand dropping to the floor, as a sudden panic filled her.

Helene, and her daughters were back, and she was not even done with her chores.

She had not even started washing, the clothes they had dumped, still a heap at the backyard untouched, and the drum half filled.

Her heart started thumping, as she ran towards a nearby window and true to her thoughts, she saw them all.

Helene was standing by the side of the open well, looking down at it, and even when she turned towards the house, Daciana could see the look of fury that was evident on her face.

Diana was nowhere to be found, and as for Bianca and Princess, she could see them clapping their hands and muttering some incomprehensible words, more like cursed rather and Daciana cursed inwardly.

She was sorely doomed today.

Had they even planned this? She wondered heavily in her head as she tried to think of the time they had left the house, and their arrival now.

They had just left, so how come they had come back so suddenly and…

“Where is that witch!”

No… no… Daciana thought in her head, her hands gripping the edge of the wall she was standing close too, her feets tappering away in fright.

“Daciana!” Helene roared, her wooden shoe clanging loudly on the wooden floor, and Daciana still kept mute, afraid of saying anything for fear of bong caught and…

The door to the kitchen swung open, and in walked Helene, and Bianca hot at her heels.

“Welcome… welco…” She started to stammer out her greetings, but Helene didn’t let her finish, because in a second she was in front of her and grasping her hair roughly while Daciana’s yell echoed around the room.

“Yes mother, drag her like that. Lazy thing.”

Oh well…

“What we’re you doing since we left, you witch?” Helene asked, and all Daciana could do was just blabber out stammers of plea, as she held her head in pain.

Helene, who was still holding her hair tightly, pulled her out from the kitchen, the small dainty living room and out into the open air, dropping her roughly on the sandy ground.

“Are you deaf? Can’t you talk?” Princess asked her, this time coming to stand in front of her, and spitting on her, with a sneer on her face she added, “You did nothing. You didn’t even wash the clothes, neither did you finish filling the drums. Oh you would surely die today, by the time we are done with you.”

“The other witch, her sister, is not here to help her. Or is she?” Bianca mocked, laughing hysterically while Daciana’s heart tore into pieces.

Oh Ruby…. She didn’t want to think of her, but with each dwindling day that passed, with each hour or moment she spent in the hands of these people who were likely to kill her one day, she wondered if Ruby was going to come back for her like she had promised.

If she didn’t come back, we’ll she was surely going to die in this place, maybe today, just like Princess had said.

Worse of if she didn’t give up the ghost today just like they wanted, she would just faint and give way to unconsciousness like she normally did, after tortures like this.

“Today, you would get the beating of your life, I’ll make sure to leave you with marks and sure wounds.” Helene’s voice sounded loudly, cutting into her thoughts.

“Please…” Daciana begged, with heavy sobs bursting forth from her lips, but her pleas fell on deaf ears.

She could even hear Diana pleading nearby, but Helene paid no ear to the words of her last daughter, as she began to brandish Daciana with heavy whipping from the stick of some tree, she had cut earlier.

With gut wrenching sobs, thoughts of Ruby filling up her mind, the whips descending on her flesh, her bones screaming out in agony, Daciana sobbed until she couldn’t anymore, and helpless, limp, she kept mute as Helene, Princess and Bianca took turns taking out their unleashed anger on her.

Her eyes closed, all hope lost, she saw a bright white light, at the end of a tunnel in her head, and a forced smile on her lips, Daciana gave up.

She had nothing left in her to spare.

…….

RUBY’S POV

A tear fell down her face too, her heart squeezing at the same time as she felt Daciana’s sobs internally and spiritually.

She could hear the whips too, someone was torturing the hell out of her little sister, and a sob broke out of her lips.

This sometimes happened, whenever her sister was in so much pain, and ever since she had left her back at the woods the night of their supposed escape from Helene’s shack, the feeling had increased and intensified so much, that at times she couldn’t sleep.

She could break the bond, that connected them, probably for her peace of mind, but Ruby dared not to.

Her sister was now in so much pain, torment and agony just because of the stupid plan she had initiated, and now Daciana was bearing the brunt of her actions.

She had failed her sister, just like she had always done in every fucking thing, and Ruby hated her selfish self.

Hers she was, a maid at the castle of one of the most powerful werewolf clan, that ever lived in Alaska, and there her sister was still suffering.

After her collapse, and then February offering her this position in the grand mansion, she had been enjoying herself and basking in very moment she spent here, even if she had to work heavily for it.

She now had a roof over her head to sleep in, warm comfy bed and blanket, three square meals to eat everyday, and even friends to mingle and talk too, but Daciana was with nothing.

Ruby could only imagine that Daciana’s punishments would have increased and intensified, due to her escaping and leaving her there, and just with this thought she couldn’t take it anymore.

She had to do something, and she had to do it quick, but then what could she do?

Her hands frozen atop the dishes she was cleaning in the kitchen, she sniffled slowly so as not to attract any attention from the nearby maids, or cooks.

Her teeth gritting, the pain in her chest became more intense, that Ruby knew she had to leave the kitchen immediately before she would break into full blown sobs, that would not stop anytime.

Tears were already brimming at the back of her eyes, and sniffing yet again, she rinsed her hands quickly, and with her head bowed down, murmuring an incorrigible excuse to the maid standing by her side, she started out the door, amidst the throng and crowds of servants gathered around.

Luckily for her, they were each busy with their chores, in the large room and they didn’t notice her leave at all.

Wiping a sweat by her brow, the tears now flowing freely down her cheeks, Ruby started to walk down the long corridor to nowhere in particular, with her hands folded under her bosom.

She strutted aimlessly, her head in shambles, tears still flowing and she could feel the stares of the guards stationed at every side of the building, boring holes in her back, but she didn’t even mind them at all.

Her head was just in disarray, as she tried to think about how to stop this feeling, and how to save her sister from the pain she knew she was putting up with right this instant.

What could she even do? She asked herself, as she kept walking down the hall with no place in mind at all.

Still strutting, Ruby had no idea when she reached outside, and not until the full force of the blazing afternoon sun hit her face, did she realize that she had wandered to the grounds of the castle.

She stopped walking, as she stared out into the large field looking around, and then her gaze stopped at a moving crowd…

It was him… the head of the castle, or the clan rather, mysterious and all alluring Adolph Caesar.

The man who had supposedly saved her that snowy day, picking her up from the ground just like the old man Fenris had explained to her.

He was in the midst of some guards, and Fenris surprisingly who was talking to him as they walked the grounds of the castle, and standing frozen, not even moving a step, Ruby had her gaze caught on him, as she took in his imposing appearance.

After the first day she had been brought to the castle, and collapsed in his arms, uttering words she couldn’t even remember now, she had not spoken to him ever since, as Fenris had been the one to handle her welfare in the castle.

She had seen him sometimes in the castle, but she barely stole a glance at him, as she didn’t think she would want anything to do with him, but then…

He was so handsome, not the kind she would attribute to just his face even though she couldn’t see it clearly, from where she stood.

There was just something about his rippled muscles that were evident, even though he was fully clothed in a robe that had him looking like English royalty, and then his long hair.

Dark blonde, almost brown like she could see, the quirk of his lips while he talked, and his hands folded at his back while he walked, and his eyes, which were dim too and even though she had no idea what color they were, since they were far off from each other, Ruby couldn’t deny it, but she was suddenly feeling some strange kind of fuzzy feeling for him, already forgetting about her sister and…

“Oh Daciana… fuck!” She exclaimed, coming back to her senses, and rubbing her hands on her roughly.

Fuck! She sniffed back the tears that still burned at the back of her eyes, and then she did an abrupt torn away from Alpha Adolph right, and just as she did so, something struck in her head.

A new idea, or was she just thinking things that just wouldn’t work out?

She would need an audience with this man, and he could help her too.

If he had rescued her that morning without knowing who she was, and allowed her to live freely in his castle, then surely he would grant this one request of hers, and that was only if she would be able to talk to him.

He had not even inquired about her, probably since Fenris had taken care of everything that concerned her then he was no longer concerned anymore.

She had to do something though, to catch his attention and maybe seek an audience with her or whatever.

Coupled with the fact, that she was strangely attracted or drawn to him, something that she still didn’t understand, Ruby knew that she had to pull a strong one, to be able to do this.

Now, as she thought of it, another idea struck through her head, and smiling she started to walk back inside the castle, straight to her room.

Soon, she would accomplish her ideas, and she would get Daciana to be with her in this castle again.

Soon, soon…
