Chapter Thirty Three: Questioning Loyalties

The butterfly kisses he spread on her neck, and the way his soft breath raised goosebumps on her skin contradicted his strong grasp on her waist. Judy wondered how she had come to find such a beautiful man and managed to get him to her bed. The first time he met her at The Tavern she was in a very bad place. But, he managed to lift up her spirit. Somehow, he said all the right things; everything she had always wanted to hear came out from between his delicious lips effortlessly and without even thinking about it. And since they left The Tavern together on friday, they had been rolling in bed together. He played her body like a violin, and she had always been a sucker for violins. He handled her softly, eliciting the most beautiful and loudest moans that had ever come out of her mouth. “How can you be so perfect?” She asked him with a breathy moan.

He pulled her body closer to his, “Because you deserve perfect, dear Judith.” He licked her lower lip again, then bit it softly. She wrapped her arms around his neck and he knew they would go for another round. It was their third time and although she was a means to an end, Judy had proved herself to be quite entertaining.

“I have to go home at some point, Mark. I cannot stay here forever.” Judy whispered into his lips, struggling to even pull away from him.

“Why not? What’s so wrong with staying here forever?” He asked her and he maneuvered himself to be on top of her again. Holding her gaze, he entered her body once again, feeling her heat wrap around him. “You want to be here, Judy. You want to stay with me.”

Bates had left with John and Sally; it was agreed they would stay in his place for the time being until they figured things out. However, Cedric refused to leave with them, claiming that he needed to speak to Lorraine first. “So, what’s up?” She asked him after a long awkward moment that followed the departure of the others.

Cedric furrowed his eyebrows, “What’s up? That’s what you have to say? Why did you insist on taking the strays? We’re not even sure they’re not working with The Brotherhood.”

Lorraine let out a sigh, she didn’t know what she was hoping for, but it wasn’t an argument. *“Did you think he wanted to tell you how beautiful you looked in your ragged shirt and messy hair?” She scoffed at her own thoughts.* “They're both scared shitless, and there’s strength in numbers, right?” Her question was rhetorical and he knew it, so Cedric didn’t give a reply. However, the way he looked at her was more than enough to express how he felt about the whole thing. “Did you find anything from the vampire?” Cedric shook his head and she let out a sigh. “When are you going to visit Raymond?” She fired her next question,* “If he wants to be all business and serious then that’s what I would do.”* She decided to herself.

“Tomorrow.” He said with a finality and a slight bite in his tone, which she didn’t understand the reason behind. He saw the look on her face; it was full of disappointment and worry. “Do you want to go? See him?”

Lorraine shook her head, bit her lower lip then asked, “Do you think he’s a Vancsura?”

“I think Victoria wouldn't have gone through the trouble of bringing you here if she hadn’t been sure you’re a Vancsura. And if your mom isn’t one then it’s probably your father, as rare it is to find a male Vancsura with magic, it isn’t impossible.” Cedric paused for a second, “One of the grimoires I found at Victoria’s belonged to The Jonas.”

“But if she went through all this to get it, why did she leave it behind?” Lorraine asked and Cedric shook his head, having no answer. Cedric’s phone vibrated in his pocket and when he answered his demeanor changed into one of anger and he cursed whoever had called him. Lorraine stared at him with furrowed eyebrows. “What happened?” She asked with a worried tone.

“Aiden let Dave run away.”

Mark stared at the sleeping form of Judy next to him in the bed with a smirk on his face. He was sure that she would be a putty in his hand. There was a knock on the door of his room, and he got up, pulling up his pants before he opened the door. The room of the motel wasn’t small, but it wasn’t big either. He wouldn’t call it luxurious but it served its purpose. He gave a quick glance at Judy before opening the door. He found a bloodied and bruised Dave staring at him with an arm wrapped around his midsection. “What the fuck hell happened to you?”

“Your brother happened.” He said with a pained grunt. “I didn’t tell them anything, but Cedric Bloodworth is as strong as Victoria had said. I thought he was supposed to be on our side!”

Mark let Dave inside. “Apparently her plan didn’t work as well as it was supposed to, or he’s just too cunning.” Mark grunted and helped Dave to the bathroom, but he heard Judy beginning to wake up. He heard her ask what was happening and he flashed in front of her, looking straight into her eyes. “Go back to sleep.” Anger was lacing his order, but Judy found herself lying back onto the bed. Before she closed her eyes, there was only one thought in her mind. “I don’t want to sleep…”

The Dawson household reamined lit and very awake, except for Suzan who hadn’t left her room since the late afternoon. Cedric was glaring angrily at Aiden, while Bates made sure to stand between the two of them. “I don’t know what happened. He attacked me and ran away.” Aiden had explained to them that he entered the cell and left the door open thinking that Dave was too weak to do anything. “Cedric had literally pulled his guts out.” Lorraine scrunched her nose at the image that played in her mind. “How could I have known that he still had the power to attack me!”

“He didn’t have any blood in him, unless you gave him some.” Cedric accused stepping forward towards Aiden. It seemed he was about ready to attack him. Lorraine stepped forward and she didn’t know what she was thinking but she grabbed his arm with hers and he turned to her to see the pleading look on her face. Cedric wasn’t one to relent, and despite being angry at her defending him, he let the venomous words he was about to utter die in his mouth.

“Mistakes happen.” Lorraine started, but her voice conveyed her slight doubt. She stared at Aiden, “He would never let him go intentionally.” Aiden nodded firmly at her words, but he averted his eyes away from hers. She shook her head, “Let’s focus on what matters.” She let out a breath, “You should go and find Raymond, hopefully Victoria didn’t get to him first and if he has the grimoire then we should get it.”
