Chapter 27: False Engagement,Real Diamonds

Anastasia's POV
"It's either you are too careless or not used to wearing luxury clothes, it's so obvious" came the witch's snickering voice.
"What do you want?" I turned face to face with Alia, my ex-boyfriend's current girlfriend ,looking utterly red wearing the bright red gown and matching red lipstick. Thank goodness, I chose this black dress and not the red one.
"I want to help you take off this tag. You must not be used to wearing expensive things. Poor thing " she cooed,taking a sip of her wine ,dragging off the tag aggressively from the dress.Her female minions behind her laughed while Vincent stupidly stood there looking acting busy.
I sighed and stopped Jennifer from doing anything drastic ,knowing what she can be up to when she kept twirling her glass of wine.
"That witch, you would have allowed me to stain her with this drink" Jennifer huffed in clear annoyance.
"It's my fault,for not covering it well and she is right" I sighed ,all the energy and vibes I got from people complimenting my outfit earlier on inflated.
"Hey, don't say that. Come here " Jennifer hugged me,giving me a glass of wine as we took in the whole glamorous and expensive looking hall. You can tell,this is a place for the wealthy and I don't belong here.
"Let me go introduce myself to Director X, don't let anyone bully you!" She whispered before hurrying away.
I sighed, thinking about leaving. I am supposed to be here showing these two demons how happy and strong I am but that's the least of things I am feeling right now.
"...We are all gathered here to award Mr Vincent as the most influential person of the year in the state and also the youngest principal to head the "Queen's and King's Academy" rated one of the best not only in the world but the whole world!"
Finished the minister, also known as the Witch Alia's father as Vincent and Alia came to the stage to receive the award. People clapping and the press crew taking photos.
I was about to turn and leave when I saw the press rushing off towards the entrance but then 10 strong and scary looking men pushed them aside making way for two Human's in black.Okay, is it fate that President Aaron and Ava had to show up dramatically to this event.
"We didn't know that you will acknowledge our invitation, thank you President Aaron Blacks "rushed the ministers and governors bowing slightly and trying to shake President Aaron Blacks but he didn't take any of their hands and just nodded his head,commanding attention with that rugged stance and poise, every inch the Alpha male he is with little Ava clinching to his hands in her matching back suits.
"Excuse me, I have some serious announcement " came Alia's screeching voice dragging all attention back to her.
"Get down from there Alia" the minister muttered but she ignored him.
"I have an important question for President Aaron Blacks,one of the most influential People in the world. Recently there have been some rumors about him and that gold digger …" emphasizing on the word that cut right through my soul, her hands pointing at me,now all attention was on me.I could literally feel my legs shaking.
"Well, we all know how cunny she can be. She even tried to sabotage my boyfriend and took away the awards for his research papers using her dubious means...but then he was only doing the right by leaving a lowlife nobody like her for me…"
"You should stop this right now…" Vincent came to stop her holding her arms but she pushed his hands and stood up with all authority and continued tearing her heart into pieces in the presence of the whole world, the press are here I mean!
"Stay back,let me finish with what I am saying.Well, we all know that President Aaron Blacks is too smart to fall for her devious acts and that's why I will be giving him the chance to deny having any ties with her to save his reputation …" she said coming down from the podium and giving President Aaron Blacks the microphone.
I am as tiny as a needle inch to burst to tears,coupled with the fact that during all these allegations,president Aaron didn't look my way not even once.
He didn't collect the microphone but one of his men dragged Alia beside making way for him as he made way to go up the podium.
"Don't think,I can face it" I whispered, biting my lips so hard to stop the tears from falling when I felt a staring hand grabbing mine. I turned to look at President Aaron Blacks holding my arms, I cleared my eyes hoping that this is not some putty cry illusion.
I thought he was going to the podium and not my way and the person in charge of controlling the lights had to make everything more dramatic and flashed the stage light on us.
I turned ,waiting for the last piece of my life to crumble in front of these plenty of strangers.
"As a matter of fact, I need to stop just hanging out with Miss Anastasia whom I fondly call Anna." He said with a pause and a skip of my heart beat.
"See,I told you all" Alia's voice was the loudest among the hissing and the murmurs that spread across the room.
I could almost swear I heard Jennifer's "such a big jerk" behind one of the men in black who is clearly stopping her from getting through.
That's my girl!
"For this reason,I have decided to propose to her again and hope that she will accept me this time around" he signaled baby Ava who came smiling and brought out a ring box from behind her ,smiling big and handing it over to her daddy.
Now my heart really skipped three Beats,what is happening here? The uproar was louder this time and before I could have processed everything he sleekly slid the shiny pink diamond rock on my index fingers and couldn't register the shock on Alia and Vincent's face while the audience clapped loudly.
I could only see a thousand shiny starts,the butterflies dancing freely in my stomach and my felt like they were flying when President Aaron Black's firm yet subtle lips captured mine in a fine tuned erotic thrust and rhythm.
So this is what heaven feels like?
