Chapter 37
HAIDAR JEGA
I stretched my arm as I got out of my car. I was so tired and very Hungry. This is going to be my very first day entering my hospital. After four years and I was back to this hella hectic life. I took calm strides towards the glass entrance of the hospital, I swear I was really tired but they called me that many patients needed my service. "Doctor Haidar, welcome!" I heard Doctor James say happily. I smiled happily as we hugged.
"Thank God you don come ooo, I swear work choke," Doctor James said and I chuckled.
"Oya I Dey come to make I enter office" I spoke in pidgin and he busted out laughing.
"Your pidgin is very bad bruh," He said. I rolled my eyes and sashayed my way towards my office. I hadn't been in it for a very long time. I opened it up and it looked just like I had left it. I placed my bag on the table and started sorting out some documents in it.
Just then, a knock came on the door. "Come in" I shouted. Without raising my head to look at the door.
"Good morning, oh my God Doctor Haidar" I raised my head to find Adhiva standing before me with a smile on her face, she was dressed in a nurse's uniform.
"Hey Adhiva, wow funny seeing you here," I said.
"Wow, wait are you the owner of this hospital?." She asked while taking a sit before me.
"Yeah, I am" I simply said.
"Wow, I was asked to come to get your signature. I just got a job here" She said.
"Oh wow, that's great. Hand me your documents" I said to her. She passed it to me and I quickly began going through them.
"How's your mum?" I asked while going through her documents.
"She's getting better, Alhamdudilah," She said.
"That's good, Have you worked in a hospital before?" I asked.
"No, but I worked as an online nurse for 6 years." She said. I raised my head to look up at her.
"That gets a nurse app?" I asked and she nodded.
"That's cool," I said. "Okay, I'm done signing your document, welcome to Jega hospital," I said.
"Thank you very much, sir," she said while nodding happily.
"Alright get up, let's go work."
I said cheerfully and she chuckled.
"Where do I drop my bag, sir?" She asked.
"Just drop it in my office, We have to go check on some patients," I said.
She got up and we both took calm strides out of my office. "First we are going to check on the patients on this floor, then we'll go up. Got it?" I asked.
"Yes sir." She said.
"Drop the sir abeg. It's Haidar" I said.
"Okay" She simply said.
"Doctor Haidar, it nice seeing you here. How are you doing?" Dr. Simon said as soon as he spotted me.
"Simon, what's up?" I said while putting my hand into my pocket to retrieve my phone.
"Oh my God, Adhiva can you help me get my phone from my office?" I asked very politely.
"Okay, Haidar," I said and she scurried away immediately to get it. While I conversed with Doctor Simon.
Two minutes, and we were still standing and talking when Adhiva arrived with my phone. "Simon, I have to run. The workload is much today, see you around." I patted his shoulder before turning around and walking away along with Adhiva.
"Here's your phone Haidar." She passed my phone to me.
"Thank you so much" I smiled cheerfully.
"You're welcome, who is the pretty girl on your wallpaper?" She asked. I put my phone on and stared at the picture of Lailah on the screen. I smiled.
"She was supposed to be my wife," I said.
"Supposed?" She rose a brow.
"She died," I said. She paused for a while, she blinked multiple times. "I'm sorry about that, may her soul Rest In Peace," She said calmly.
"Ameen, Thank you," I said.
We entered a patient's room and we began our work from there. She was good at her work and did all I said very well. It made my work easier.
*~*
After my day from the office. I went home immediately, I was so tired that I collapsed on my bed immediately. My head was heavy and I had to take some painkillers. I was about to shut my eyes to sleep when I heard a knock on my door.
"Who is that?" I shouted angrily.
"Sir it's me, your maid. You have a visitor"
She said. I got up from the bed lazily with a scowl on my face. I opened the door.
"Who?" I simply asked.
"She said I should tell you that her name is Adhiva," She said. Sleep immediately left my eyes.
"Adhiva? What is she doing here?"
I asked no one in particular. "Go and tell her I'll come to meet her now," I said to the maid. I went back into my room and immediately picked up my phone, I was awaiting a call. I tossed the phone in my pocket and dashed downstairs immediately. When I got there, I saw her still dressed in her office uniform.
"Adhiva, wow what a pleasant..." she cut me short.
"You have to come with me," She said. Of course, I raised a brow.
"To where?" I chuckled.
"Haidar it's very important, I can't explain it to you right now. Just come with me please" She said.
"Okay," I simply said. I had nothing to
Lose, my life. Who cared, I'm sure I was close to death anyways.
"Come, let's go. My car is outside." She said. I followed behind her and we went outside. We arrived at the parking lot where a Camry was parked. I sat in front along with her. There was no time to ask questions from the way she began driving.
"Is it your mum's health?" I asked. She didn't reply. She just drove out of the gate and drove into the city of Abuja as though she owned it. I couldn't help but feel confused. Where was this girl taking me?
