Chapter 39

Haidar Jega

I watched her eyes twitch. She was moving and I couldn't help but feel happier. It showed that the medicine was taking effect. She moved her legs calmly and then tossed them. I couldn't help but chuckle. It was 4 pm, Adhiva was in her room watching television while I stayed back with Lailah. I couldn't leave her here. I just couldn't wait for her to open her eyes and tell me all that she had gone through.

"Haidar" I heard her call my name. I looked at her and found her holding onto her head firmly with her hand. "The brightness," She said.

"Lailah," I called. I was feeling extremely happy, I couldn't even contain my happiness in me. "Open your eyes very slowly," I said. She sat upright and opened her eyes very slowly as I had said. Immediately her eyelids were completely opened, I immediately hugged her tightly.

"Lailah, I'm so happy. The medicine worked fast." I said. I heard her chuckle.

"What medicine? did Zakari and Zubair hurt you?" She immediately broke the hug and searched my body in case of any injuries.

"No I'm okay, they are in jail," I said.

"Where are my mum and Nailah? And how did you grow a beard so fast?" She asked with a raised brow While touching her neck. "My neck? it has no scar. I can't feel any pain." She said. It was clear she didn't know four years had passed. She still thought it was the year she was shot in the neck.

"Calm down Lailah. It's a very long story, but the good thing is that you are alive. I thought you had died" I said.

"Died?" She chuckled "I'm okay Haidar." She said.

"You do not understand, let me tell you all that happened," I said. I then narrated all that happened to her, from how we were deceived that she had died to how I flew to Saudi and how I came to find out she was alive. She gasped loud with tears in her eyes.

"4 years? Do you mean I've been kidnapped for four years? And I was exchanged, someone was buried in my place?" She said all at once. Tears cascaded down her eyes.

"It's okay Lailah, I promise you I'll find out who did this to you and why," I said reassuringly.

"It's obvious that Zakari has a hand in this, but then why didn't he kill me?" She said.

"That's what I thought as well. But as for now, no one must know you are alive, not even your family." I said.

"Yeah, you are right about that." She said. "I can't believe you all thought I was dead. Haidar, I'm sorry about everything." She said.

"It's not your fault Lailah. I'm just really happy that you are alive and okay. All thanks to Adhiva, I found you." I said.

"Where is Adhiva now?" She asked.

"Give me a minute, let me call her," I said. I dipped my hand in my pocket and brought out my phone. I phoned Adhiva and she came right in when I told her Lailah was awake.

"Oh my God! The medicine worked in less than 24 hours" Adhiva said. Lailah smiled at her calmly.

"Thanks for taking care of me. May Allah reward you." She said.

"It's nothing Lailah. I'm just happy you are safe now. Only God knows what those dangerous medicines would have done to you." She said.

"It's clear they were injecting poison into me. Look how chubby I've become" she said. I chuckled. She then turned to me and smiled. She didn't take her eyes off me. She just kept staring and so did I.

"I'll be in my room if you guys wanna talk, Uhm bye." Adhiva didn't wait for us to talk and scurried away. I couldn't help but chuckle.

"I've missed you so much Lailah. I can't express how my heart has been feeling ever since I thought you were dead. I felt like I would die like I can't explain..." she cut me off with a hug.

"I know" She sobbed. "I know how it might have felt, I understand" She let go of me and stared at me.

"In sha Allah, no one will ever separate us ever again. I promise" I held her cheeks. She simply cried. I couldn't help but crash our lips together, it was very wrong but it felt right. She kissed me back and then broke it.

"You do know my mouth has been closed for 4 years right?" She said while laughing and crying. I chuckled.

"Who cares! I'm just happy you are back and Alive. I can't tell you how I feel. It's beyond your imagination, I'm so happy" I found myself crying along with her. We collided our heads together as we both cried in each other's arms.

"I love you Lailah Dk, I love you so much and can't wait to make you my wife," I said.

"I love you too Haidar, I love you" she hugged me while we both sobbed.

"You are never gonna leave me again, I'll never let them take you away. I promise" I said, I was crying really badly and so was she.

"I'll never let them too, we'll never be separated again. I promise" She broke the hug. She then held my cheeks and smiled before colliding our heads together and then crying hysterically yet again.

"We have to find out who did this to you immediately, we can't let them win. I can't let them make me lose you once again" I said.

"We'll find out who, we just need..." she paused and then held her head firmly. "I need to rest," She said. I immediately helped her sit on the bed.

"We need to visit Zakariya, I'm sure he'll know why they want me gone." She managed to say.

"We'll go see him tomorrow, but for now. You need food and rest." I made her lay her head calmly on the pillow.

"Thank you," She said. I smiled.

"I'll be right back, I'll get you food. I'm coming" I said before rushing out of the room. I walked downstairs and headed to the kitchen. I immediately made noodles and brought them up to her along with the juice. It didn't take me a lot of time as it was easy to prepare noodles. When everything was set I walked upstairs and pushed the door to my room open slowly to find her laying with her eyes closed. I walked over to her and drop the plate in the side cupboard. I then sat on the bed and tapped her. She opened her eyes slowly and a smile graced her face when she saw mine. I couldn't believe it. I had gotten my Lailah back.
