27.

**Blake**

I awkwardly stared at the both of them as we all three hung around in the kitchen, taking another sip of my coffee.
It was already late in the afternoon, but since Leila was mostly awake during the nights now, Ricky and I had to change our usual sleeping routine -well, mostly I since he didn't exactly need to sleep everyday to replenish his energy- causing me to change my morning habits as well.
And so here I was, coffee mug in hand and still wearing my sleeping clothes as I sat by the kitchen island with Raph and Raz keeping me company since Luc and Ricky were out again, doing hell-knows what.

My gaze trailed to Raph again, taking in his lazy attire, consisting in only a pair of grey sweatpants, those muscles on his naked torso flexing with every small movement as he casually sat perched atop the kitchen counter.

Shifting my eyes back on Raz, I stared at the way that loose tank top hung over his bulky torso and those comfy shorts ending right above his knees, making him look so boyish and casual, almost like a human and very sexy student.

Apparently since we were mostly spending our time in this apartment -after everything happening lately-they had chosen to wear themselves a little bit more comfortable, despite the fact that they didn't really need to rest, eat or shower like I did, for instance. Which only made me think that they were actually doing this to make Ricky, Leila and I a little bit more at ease around them.

I still felt a little bit weird in their presence, after everything that happened in that church.
It completely changed the way I was seeing them.
These were two freaking ageless and powerful beings standing in front of me right now, and playing fucking house with us!

"So umm...Should we start bowing to you and kissing your hands and shit?" I awkwardly blabbered as I glanced between them, earning myself a raised brow from Raz.

"Yeah sure. If that's what you're into," Raph said, immediately receiving a smack over the back of his head from Azrael.

"Ow," He let out an amused chuckle, making me escape a small giggle as well.

"Dude, we're not freaking priests or some shit like that," He told me with a frown.

"We were just...created, just like every other creature on this planet, if you may," He started to explain,

"Except that each of us, we were created for a sole purpose; to serve and protect the humankind, each in his or her own way,"

"Just like Razzie here was created to carry the souls to their final destination, I was created to heal," He finished with a grin as he flung his arm around the back of Raz's neck and blew him an air kiss, only to receive himself an eye-roll.

I let out another giggle at the sight of their brotherly behaviour and nodded in understanding, feeling a little bit more relieved.

I took another sip of my coffee when the sound of a loud moan suddenly reached my ears, no doubt coming from Leila's room.

My eyes shifted from Raph to Raz, all three of us sitting there in complete silence until another loud moan followed, and another, and another one.

We just stood there and waited for her to calm down just like we've been doing in these past few days, except that this time, she didn't stop so easily.

Quite the contrary as she suddenly started screaming louder and louder, until I kinda started to feel a little bit scared and uneasy.

Shit. What if someone in the building hears her and calls the freaking police?

"I'll go calm her down," Azrael briefly told us before heading straight to her room, just in time to hear the doorbell ring.

"Shit,"

Great. Just fucking great. This is exactly what we need right now.

"I'll get it," I told Raph before hopping off from my stool, hearing the bell being ringed with such persistency.

"God, I'm coming!" I angrily shouted to the door as I made my way towards it.

"What!" I flung the door open, my mouth hanging open in utter surprise as I widely stared at the tall and cute brunette male standing right in front of me.

"Jake?"

"Blake?" He said back, his dark blue eyes twinkling in surprise as well.

"Oh my god, Jake!" I cried out in happiness, throwing myself in his arms.
I gave him a tight hug, feeling his arms hold me a little tighter as well before he slowly let go.

I really missed him. He used to be Leila and I's best friend in highschool.
That until we graduated and he moved out.

"What are you doing here?" I asked as I pulled back to look at him.

"I live here," He said with a smile.

"Living the student life," He casually added as I closely gazed at his features, no doubt noticing the visible change in his aspect. He didn't have that child face anymore. Now, he truly looked like an all-grown male with that light stubble covering his cheeks and chin. He even seemed leaner.

"What about you?"

"Uh, yeah we're students too," I quickly blurted out without even thinking, earning myself a curious look from him.

"Really?"

"Wait, us? Is Leila here too?" He suddenly asked, taking a step closer to peek inside the apartment as I had left the door half open.

Shit.

"Yeah but, she's currently unavailable right now," I quickly lied with a forced grin, moving to stand in the doorway and hold it a little bit closer to me, blocking his view.

"Baby, what's taking you so long? I'm getting cold!" I suddenly heard Raph fake-whine from inside, watching Jake's features contort into a frown.

Shit. Shit. Oh my god, he so did that on purpose!

I thought as I definitely knew that he must've been listening in on our conversation.

"Raph! Shut the fuck up!" I angrily hollered back.

"What is going on?" Jake quickly said with a rather concerned look on his face, noticing how his dark eyes suddenly widened as he gazed somewhere past me, even glinting with a small hint of fear.

Yeah, thanks a lot, Raz.

I mentally mumbled as I could feel Azrael's presence in our close proximity.

"Blake, is everything okay?" Jake stepped closer to ask me in a rather hushed voice while his eyes kept stealing glances somewhere past my head, visibly concerned.

Oh great.

"Uh, yeah, they're just our...they're our roomates," I waved it off with a chuckle.

"Our annoying, idiot roomates!" I yelled over my shoulder, making sure that Raph had heard me.

"Love you too, baby!" I heard him shout back, causing me to roll my eyes in annoyance.

I swear someone's gonna get their feathery ass kicked, archangel or not.

"Are you sure you're okay?" Jake insisted, making me smile in awe.

I must admit that it was so sweet of him, to worry for us like this. He'd always been. Ever since we'd firstly met.

"Yeah, yeah, they were just watching some loud porn," I mindlessly blabbered out with a chuckle, my grin quickly fading as soon as I saw that horror-stricken look on Jake's face, immediately realizing how my words must've sounded.

Way to go, Blake.

"Not with us of course!" I rushed to explain.

"Right..." He mumbled out with a frown, still looking a little bit weirded-out as he once again glanced somewhere past me.

I could understand why he would be so worried for us. There were two half-naked hunks freely roaming around the apartment for crying out loud, and he had absolutely no way of knowing what they really were. From his point of view, they were just two human males, totally capable of hurting Leila and I if they wanted to.

"Hey, we should hang out sometimes," I rushed out in my attempt to lighten up the mood, earning myself a light smile from him.

"Yeah, totally,"

"Maybe you can get Leila to join us too, I really want to see her,"

"Sure. Here, give me your phone," I stretched my hand out, so he quickly fished his phone out from his jeans' pocket, placing it in my hand.

"I'll punch my number in," I informed him and started dialling, letting it ring once before I ended the call.

"Thanks," He said with another smile, moving to give me a quick hug.

"See you around, Blake," He gave me one last small wave before turning to leave.

"Yeah sure," I answered with a smile of my own, then rushed back inside and closed the door behind me with an audible sigh.

Shit. Thank god it was only Jake.

"We have to feed her," Raz told me with a serious look on his face as he approached me.

Dear god...

I blew out another sigh and made my way towards the couch, the mere idea of hurting someone or even taking their chance at life by stealing some blood for Leila making me feel so sick.

"Well, I-I could-"

"NO!" They both shouted in unison before I could even finish that sentence, startling me as I took a seat over the couch.

"Absolutely not,” Raz firmly said as he gazed at me, crossing his arms over his chest as he stood just a few steps away from me.

"Why?" I frowned, puzzled as I looked between the two.

"Uh, because you're a freaking nephilim?" Raph retorted from his seat over the couch, drawing my attention.

"So?"

"So? What do you mean "so"? A single drop of your blood could give her power to fight us all! Not to mention that you're Michael's kid," He quickly answered back, for once making me feel so stupid and useless.

My best friend was like this because of me and now they were telling me that I couldn’t even help her.

“I miss dad...” The words went past my lips before I could even realize, for the millionth time reminding myself that he couldn’t visit us, no matter how much I wished to or pray for him to come.
He had a whole freaking army under his command, keeping him busy all the time, not to mention that after what happened with those elders two years ago, he was being constantly under watch.

At least he would’ve known what to do.

"So...Wanna watch that porn now?" I suddenly heard Raph say, making me turn my head to stare at him in disbelief.

I watched him let out a stifled laugh, my gaze narrowing before I grabbed a pillow from the couch and started hitting him with it.
