Chapter 23
I didn’t want to find out, so I took off my dress hastily and joined them on the bed. When I wrapped my mouth around Dominic’s cock, Darius grabbed my head and started to control the pace of my sucking.
He was pushing and pulling my head back, creating a rhythm of fast thrusts. Dominic wiggled beneath me and spread his legs wide. He was enjoying the crazy fast ride.
As Darius began to cum, he gripped my hair so hard that I was afraid that he would rip them out of my scalp.
When he was done, Damian laid Brianna on the bed and got on top of her. He was hard again and pounding into her pussy like an angry bull.
Meanwhile, Darius busied himself with her boobs. I hated how they were all over her but I couldn’t complain.
When Dominic was done with me, he told me to leave and to never mention my son to them anymore. I went to my room to cry and slept in my bed for the first time in months.
Domarius was buried the following week at the far end of the palace courtyard near the flower garden. His fathers and Brianna did not attend the funeral. I felt so pained and helpless.
I became a shadow of myself and dreamed of the day that this nightmare I was living would be over.
The triplets had stopped coming to me for sex. I was relieved and sad at the same time.
Shortly after the funeral, they threw a lavish party to celebrate Brianna’s birthday. The celebration went on for days but they didn’t invite me. I felt useless in the palace.
This changed suddenly when a servant came to me one day with a message from a stranger. I wasn’t allowed to have visitors, so I was surprised by this message.
It was a small piece of fabric that had been cut from a tent and the letter ‘H’ was written on it.
“Hycinth!” I whispered in awe.
I held the piece of a tent to my chest and cried happy tears. Hycinth was coming for me. I had no idea how he would do it, but I knew he was coming to rescue me from Apex Woods.
I waited for days to hear from him again, but no other message came. It was probably foolish of me to hope that he would indeed come, but I couldn’t help myself.
The palace was thrown into chaos one night when invaders from the River Pack along with their allies, attacked us.
I was alone in my room, as usual, hiding under my bed and praying to the gods to save my life. Someone burst into my room and began to trash the place.
“Jade!” He shouted. “Jade, where are you?”
I recognized the voice instantly and my heart lifted with joy. “Hycinth!”
“Where are you?” He asked.
“Here,” I answered and crawled from under the bed.
“Jade!” He gasped with delight and I ran into his arms happily. He hugged me tightly and then kissed me.
“What are you doing here?” I asked.
“I heard from a friend of a friend that the River Pack and their allies were attacking Apex Woods tonight. I decided to use the opportunity to come here and see you.”
“Take me out of here, Hycinth. Please!” I begged him.
“Where is Domarius?”
Tears filled my eyes instantly. “He died,” I whispered shakily. “My evil cousin poisoned him but his fathers wouldn’t punish her because I couldn’t prove my accusation.”
Hycinth became sad. “That’s terrible. I am so sorry for your loss.”
“Let’s get out of here, Hycinth,” I said urgently. “Let’s leave this palace while we still can.”
We could hear the shouts and clashes of weapons coming from every corner of the palace and the noise scared me. If I was ever going to leave Apex Woods, it was now or never.
“We have to escape through the balcony,” said Hycinth.
“How? We’re on the fourth floor,” I said, panicking.
He smiled at me and said, “Stop thinking like a human. We are werewolves, remember?”
I grinned. “I almost forgot,” I said.
We shifted into our wolves and climbed onto the balcony. It was very tricky to go down but thanks to our sharp claws, we could grip the walls and any extended poles nearby as we went down.
When we reached the second floor, we jumped from there and landed on the ground. The whole place was filled with people and wolves fighting. It was a terrible sight and I couldn’t wait to get away.
Hycinth raced toward the vegetable garden and I followed him at top speed. We jumped over the palace fence and were finally out of harm’s way. I felt so relieved!
“It’s time to head home,” said Hycinth.
“Home…” I said sadly. I looked back at the palace and saw fire coming out of one of the rooms upstairs.
Apex Woods wasn’t my home anymore. It had never been and it would never be.
“Yes, Hycinth. Let’s go home,” I said with a smile and followed him while the palace burned behind me.
********************
Hycinth’s father had died recently after months of going in and out of illness. His mother had decided to delay his Alpha ceremony until he was mated.
It was her greatest desire to see him settle with a partner before taking his position as the new pack leader.
She had chosen a mate for him but Hycinth rejected her. He only wanted me and after many arguments with his mother, she finally agreed.
I was welcomed warmly into the pack by all of them except Hycinth’s rejected mate. I kept my distance from her and she too avoided me most of the time.
Hycinth and I were mated the following day after I joined the Gypsy Pack. The next evening, his Alpha ceremony took place, making him the new Gypsy Alpha.
Nana’s prophecy had come true, I guess. I was a Luna again with a new mate but I couldn’t imagine what would make me leave Hycinth eventually and be mated to another Alpha. That part of her prophecy was probably wrong.
Life with my new pack was different from what I was used to but I enjoyed it. I and Hycinth were taken care of by the rest of the pack and we hardly had to do anything.
He was a gentle Alpha who treated me like a queen. I never had to doubt his love for me.
He was always so tender with me when we made love. Because of him, my horrible experience in Apex Woods soon became a distant memory.
That was until a messenger from a neighbouring pack came to inform us that the Alphas of Apex Woods were searching for me.
“They survived that attack?” I asked in surprise.
“It appears so but their Luna wasn’t so lucky,” said Hycinth. “They said the invaders threw her downstairs from the fourth floor. She survived the fall but not for long because the attackers on the palace grounds caught her trying to escape and killed her.”
I smiled with satisfaction. “Served her right. She deserved even worse for what she did to my son.”
“I agree,” he said.
“But I don’t understand what any of that has to do with me. Why are the Alphas looking for me?”
He sighed. “It seems they think you had something to do with the attack.”
“How?”
“They felt it wasn’t a coincidence that you managed to escape from the palace on the same night that they were attacked.”
“That’s ridiculous! I don’t even know anyone in the River Pack.”
“Well, we can’t leave anything to chance. We have to leave this place as soon as we can before they come here.”
“You can’t just let them drive us away from our home, Hycinth,” I complained.
“Listen, Jade, anywhere and everywhere can be our home,” he said patiently. “As long as we are together, we are home.”
I smiled at him. “You’re right.”
“I know we are a strong pack but the Woods Pack is five times our number. That was why the River Pack had to get allies to fight with them.”
“That’s true,” I agreed.
“I don’t want to lose any member of my pack. I would rather avoid a war instead.”
His plan made sense. We sneaked out of our camp in the dead of night before our neighbouring packs would notice.
We travelled to the south and settled in a coastal area where our pack fished and farmed peacefully. Life was sweet once again and we were happy.
“Thank you for choosing me,” I told Hycinth one night as we lay side by side inside our tent.
