Chapter 80

“Did he tell you his name?” I asked with anticipation.
“Sahid.”
My breath ceased. Sahid? The same Sahid who had protected me many times even in my dream. He truly loved me.
If I wasn’t so deeply and madly in love with Rowan, I would have probably considered him as my fourth mate. But I didn’t need anyone else. I have found my lifelong mate in Rowan. He was more than enough for me.
“Didn’t he even accept a small reward?” I asked hopefully.
“No. He said his only reward was knowing that you would survive this ordeal and never have to worry about your safety again.”
I smiled. It sounded like something Sahid would truly say.
“How kind of him. I hope he finds happiness too just as I have with you.”
“My love…” he said softly and kissed my hand. “There’s more.”
“What?”
“We found a Moon Pack seer.”
I exhaled with relief. “At last!”
“That’s exactly what I said when she showed up yesterday right after the Lycan left.”
“Where had she been?”
“She went on an extended trip to visit her relatives in the north. As soon as she returned, she heard the news about our need for her services and she came.”
“Has she destroyed the necklace, then?”
“No. She wanted you to witness it. Now that you’re awake, I’ll send for her and she can destroy it here in our presence.”
“Sounds like a perfect plan.”
He left me briefly to go and instruct one of the Betas standing outside the door to fetch the seer. He returned and sat beside me on the bed.
“How’s Nyla?” I asked him.
“She’s well. She’s with her nanny as usual. She misses you a lot.”
“I can’t wait to hold her in my arms. I miss her so much.”
“More than you miss me?” He asked playfully.
“Of course, not. I miss you two differently.”
“I love you so much, Jade. I can’t even explain how afraid I was when I saw you lying on the ground, almost lifeless. I thought you had left me.”
“I’m so sorry, Rowan. I will never stop apologizing to you for putting you through that torture. I love you with all of my heart and soul. I wouldn’t want to live the rest of my life without you beside me.”
“Even in the afterlife, I want you there beside me.”
“And I will be there, I promise. You are mine and I am yours forever. I love you, Rowan.”
“I love you, my love,” he said and kissed me.
A soft knock on the door interrupted our intimate moment.
“Come in,” said Rowan.
The door opened and an unfamiliar elderly woman with white hair walked in. She was followed by the guards who carried her cauldron and box of potions.
“Greetings to you my Alpha and Luna,” she said warmly. “I am Aida, the Moon Pack seer who will destroy the cursed necklace that has caused my Luna so much sorrow.”
“Excellent,” said Rowan. “Let’s get on with it then.”
She directed the Betas to set down her cauldron and potions in the middle of the room. They left immediately after and closed the door.
Aida brought out the necklace from the fold of her robe. She dangled it above the pot and began to chant.
“The end begins, the beginning of the end. A curse has come, a curse is gone. The end has come, the beginning of the end.”
She dropped the necklace into the cauldron and it landed with a loud clang. She picked a vial of green potion and poured a few drops into the cauldron.
Green flames flared out of the cauldron, startling me. Rowan squeezed my hand reassuringly to let me know that I was safe with him.
She picked up another vial and poured its white content into the cauldron. There was a crackling sound in the pot as if she was frying the necklace. She added a blue potion and there was a poof of cyan smoke coming out of the pot with what sounded faintly like a she-wolf’s howl.
“As you have no fragrance, so shall you have no power over Jade Braveheart anymore,” said Aida. Her gaze was fixed on the steam as she spoke.
She walked over t the windows and opened them wide. The cyan smoke danced lazily above the cauldron and began to flow towards the windows.
Little by little, it fizzled out and was completely gone.
“It is done,” said Aida victoriously. “The curse is broken, my Luna. You are free!”
“Finally!” I laughed happily.
Aida tipped the cauldron downwards so that we could see the inside. It was completely empty. The necklace was gone.
“Amazing, “ said Rowan. He was impressed with Aida’s work. “What shall we pay you?”
“Oh, don’t bother about payment, my lord. This is what I was born to do,” she said.
“Please, Aida. Let us reward you,” I appealed to her. “What do you want?”
“Don’t worry about rewarding me,” she insisted. “Your good health is enough for me. You have shown everyone kindness since you came here. You deserve the same in return.”
I was touched. “Thank you, Aida. Thank you.”
“You will always be given priority in the Highlands, Aida. Thank you,” said Rowan.
“You’re welcome,” she said happily. She was beaming brightly like the sun.
The guards came back to help her clear out her things and Rowan and I were left alone once again.
“The storm is finally over,” he said happily. “I can’t wait to spend forever peacefully with you.”
“Me too,” I said, rising to a sitting position. “Let’s go home.”
He looked at me sceptically. “Are you sure? Do you feel strong enough?”
“Rowan, you’re my strength. I don’t need anything else to feel better.”
His face curved into a wide smile. “Oh, my love…”
“Come on, help me up,” I said and gingerly swung my legs to the side of the bed.
“I have never seen anyone recover as fast as you,” he said in awe.
“Your love healed me, Rowan. That’s the only explanation I can give.”
Once I got on my feet, he bent down and kissed me passionately. I could feel the intensity of his love for me through the kiss.
After many trials and struggles, I finally got my happy ending. I am loved by the best mate any she-wolf could ever ask for.
“Let’s go home,” he murmured against my lips.
“Yes, let’s go home,” I replied.
