Seething

“Who the hell are you?”

Maya screamed, struggling against the ropes, her pulse hammering in confusion. Why the hell were they all tied up?

She remembered sitting at home, sipping tea with everyone. Then—nothing.

And now, she was here. Tied up.

“I never thought you’d be this dumb, Maya.” Aman scoffed. “You don’t even remember me?”

Maya’s mind raced. Who was this man? Why had he been talking to Alice on the phone, demanding the key?

Her gaze darted to Alisha—pale, wide-eyed, bound beside Levi and Rish.

Aman stepped toward Alisha, dragging a rough fingertip along her cheek. “So, you’re the last royal blood,” he mused, his voice laced with amusement. “Gotta say, you’re just as beautiful as your mother.”

Alisha flinched, nausea rising in her throat. Every nerve in her body recoiled.

“Leave her!” Levi and Rish shouted in unison, straining against their restraints.

Jackson, silent until now, felt something click in his memory. His jaw clenched. “You’re the rogue,” he murmured. “The one who attacked our pack. The night Alisha lost her parents… the night we lost our Alpha and Luna.”

A stunned silence fell over the place.

Alisha’s breath hitched. She turned to Aman, her voice barely a whisper. “You… you’re the reason?”

Aman chuckled darkly. “That’s right. But I wasn’t the one who killed them.”

Alisha wanted to scream, demand answers—but fear had her paralyzed, her thoughts a tangled mess. Where did she even start?

Aman’s lips curled into a sneer. “Your so-called mate—no, that bastard Alice—he’s the son of our leader. The one who actually killed your parents before he got himself slaughtered that night.”

Then, without warning, he struck her.

The sharp crack of his slap echoed in the room.

Blood trickled from her lip, but the shock hit harder.

“Motherfucker! You’re calling for your own death.”

A furious voice echoed through the basement as Alice stormed in, Lima at his side.

His blood boiled at the sight of Aman striking Alisha without an ounce of mercy. That—was beyond unforgivable.

Aman barely spared him a glance, his smirk unfazed. “Ah, there you are. Took you long enough.”

Alice’s fists clenched at his sides, every muscle coiled with rage.

Alisha’s breathing was uneven, her face still stinging from the slap. But the moment her eyes met Alice’s, something flickered in them—pain, betrayal… and something else.

He swallowed hard. “Let. Her. Go.”

Aman chuckled, shaking his head. “Now, why would I do that? I’ve been waiting for this moment. For her.” His eyes gleamed with twisted amusement. “You really don’t get it, do you? This was never about her. It was always about power.”

Alice’s heart pounded. His vision blurred at the edges, red-hot fury taking over. But he couldn’t afford to lose control—not yet.

Lima took a slow step forward. “You should let them go,” she said, voice cold, measured. “While you still have a choice.”

Aman laughed. “And if I don’t?”

Alice didn’t answer. He moved.

“Don’t you dare!!”

Aman’s hand shot out, yanking Alisha by her hair. She gasped, her body jerking back as pain flared across her scalp.

Alice froze. His fists trembled at his sides, his breath ragged.

“Alice…” Alisha’s voice cracked. “You knew?” Her wide, tear-filled eyes locked onto his. “You knew your father killed my parents?”

Her chest heaved, each breath shaky, uneven.

She had been trying—slowly, cautiously—to trust him. To believe in him.

But now? It was shattered. Or at least, on the verge of collapse.

Alice’s throat tightened. “Alisha, I—”

“Shut up.” Her voice was barely a whisper, yet it sliced through him like a blade.

Aman chuckled. “See, little princess? He’s just like the rest of us. A liar. A coward.” His grip tightened, forcing her head back. “Now, what should I do with you?”

Alice’s vision blurred with fury. He couldn’t lose her. Not like this.

His jaw clenched. “Let. Her. Go.”

Aman smirked. “Or what?”

Lima’s voice was cold, sharp. “Or you die.”

The air tensed. A deadly silence fell between them.

“Wrong.” Aman sneered. “Because today, it’s all of you who will die. Not me.”

The moment the words left his mouth, shadows moved in the dimly lit basement.

Lucas, Harmis, and Elk emerged from the darkness, flanked by a swarm of armed men.

Maya’s breath caught. Her pulse pounded in her ears as her gaze locked onto one familiar face.

Elk.

Her husband.

“What the fuck?” The words slipped out in a whisper, disbelief choking her.

Betrayal sank deep into her chest, colder than fear.

She searched his face, desperate for an explanation. Why? How could he—?

And then it clicked. The tea.

Her stomach twisted. ‘He drugged us.’ That’s how they ended up here. That’s how this entire thing was even possible.

Elk met her eyes, but there was no remorse. No hesitation.

Just cold, calculated betrayal.

Maya’s hands clenched into fists. She wanted to scream. To demand answers. But right now, there was no time.

“Today, I’m going to kill every last one of you,” Aman sneered. “But first… why don’t you have a little chat with your husband, Maya? You look like you have a lot of questions.”

The men tightened their circle around Alice and Lima, blocking any chance of escape.

Maya’s throat tightened, her vision blurring with unshed tears. She turned to Elk, her voice barely above a whisper. “Why?”

Elk scoffed. “You’re asking me why?” His lips curled into a bitter smirk. “Because I fell in love with your sister. And what did she do? She married that bastard Alpha instead.” His eyes darkened. “And I got stuck with you as my mate.”

Maya’s stomach twisted. The words stung, but the cold finality in his voice—that shattered her.

Elk took a slow step closer, his expression unreadable. “That’s why, years ago, I helped Lucas, Aman, and the others attack the pack.”

A sharp, disbelieving breath left Maya’s lips.

The betrayal cut deeper than any blade.

All this time… the man she trusted, the man she thought was hers—he had been against her from the start.

Her fingers curled into fists, nails biting into her palms.

Aman chuckled. “Oh, don’t look so heartbroken, Maya. You were nothing more than a consolation prize.”

Lima tensed, her sharp gaze flicking between them, searching for an opening. Alice’s jaw tightened, fury burning beneath his skin.

But Maya?

“You killed my sister. My innocent brother-in-law.” Maya’s voice shook, but not with fear—pure, seething rage burned through every word. “All because of your pathetic, twisted love?”
