Chapter16
Third (POV)
Maybe he has just been caught in traffic. I kept consoling myself while keeping a constant watch on my phone. I had tried to call Jake but he won't pick up my calls. I was currently sitting in a five star hotel all alone waiting for my boyfriend Jake to show up for our date. It had been an hour but he hadn't shown up yet. People were watching me, some pitifully others mockingly. The sudden blaring of my phone set my nerves on alert. A hand on my heart I calmed myself down before picking it up.
"Jake where the hell are you?"I whispered not wanting to attract attention to myself.
"In an engagement party," he answered nonchalantly.
"Engagement party when you should be at our date? What is wrong with you?" he was so unbelievable.
"Wait, you really thought I was serious about taking you out? I was only fooling around," then followed his deep laughter.
"You weren't serious about me?" I asked the inevitable.
"Of course not. I actually just proposed to my ex girlfriend. Come on we are having an engagement party," he announced as though it was nothing.
After cutting off the call I took my purse and walked towards the washrooms resisting the urge to burst into tears .
As soon as I was in I stood before the mirrors letting tears fall down freely. That's when it hit me. He had actually never said an 'I love you to me. He was always talking about his ex girlfriend since we began going out a week ago. This was supposed to be our first official date but as it turns out he had just been fooling around. Coming to think of it he had actually never asked me to be his official girlfriend. The bang of the washroom door made me turn sharply. It was not his obviously good looks that caught my attention but his face. Anybody would recognize Mark Johnson, one of the richest billionaire in New York from anywhere. It's not because I had stack of photos of his shirtless drool worthy body saved in my phone. I continued to stare at him my eyes probably appearing too wide for my face and maybe some drool was dropping down the side of my mouth. For a moment I forgot about Jake and the stupid heartbreak he had given me. Wait a minute, I was in the same bathroom with the famous girls eye candy Mark Johnson. Oh my God!
I was freaking out and just like any other fan girl I squealed as he covered his ears in time. Oh my! To cover my embarrassment I clasped a hand on my mouth. Now he must really think I was some crazy fan girl which I really was.
"Damn! Can I go anywhere without someone screaming at me?" he groaned securing the door before walking over to me.
Wait, he was walking over to me, like literally walking towards me. I couldn't even move and I was trying so hard not to squeal on his face again.
"Don't you dare do it again," he said noticing my suppressed look.
"Am so sorry. I couldn't help it. I mean you are standing before me and it's not a hologram. It's fucking you and am so going out of my mind. Literally I wanna jump and shout but can I-" then something that was to change my life happened.
His lips closed on mine as I stood starstruck unable to comprehend the situation. Trust me when I say his lips tasted better than they looked in the internet. Then just like they way his lips had caught me off guard they were gone in a flash.
"Have a selfie?" I finished still frozen.
"Why not?" he answered his famous signature smirk set squarely in his lips.
Could he have looked any more dreamier?
I took my iPhone as his hand went round my waist making me jump. He grinned mockingly. Either he knew he had that effect on women or he was just too cocky for his own good. I flipped several pictures but my mind was fully in focus on his hand around my waist, vibrating a series of tingles to the my core.
"Isn't that enough?"
"Yeah Sure," I said as an awkward silence ensued.
"Our little meeting should be just be between us. Don't mention it to anyone," with that he left with pictures of me looking so awful, all thanks to Jake.
I smiled at the memory as my phone pinged. Frowning I wondered who would be texting me at this time.
Kylie's POV
The event was a business gathering of 300 people. Clara and her group was the one who made everything for the event. the event that ended shortly. She helped pack up and loaded the vans as there were only a few staff present for today's event.
"It's alright you guys just go ahead, I'll just catch a cab after I get my things inside. See you guys tomorrow." She said to her staffs who were all sitting in the van. She went back inside to collect her things and stepped out of the building when it started to drizzle. She hurried her way to a more crowded road hoping she could get a cab easier. Quickened her pace, almost running but the rain was getting heavier. The rain was pouring heavily and she finally gave up and went inside a building for shelter. She stood by the reception and was surprised to realize that she was in the Smith's building.
"Good evening mam, can I help you?" The security from the building asked.
"Kelvin, is that you? It's me Kylie and this is my friend Clara!" I replied.
"Oh hey Kylie, it's been a while. How are you and what are you doing here? You know what time it closes." He gave her a hug.
"Yeah I know, my friend and I was catering to an event a few blocks from here and I thought I could get a better chance of finding a cab here than there. Can I just wait here for a while till the rain subside? You won't even realize I'm here." She pouted and gave him her best puppy face.
"You know I can't say no to that. You can wait as long as you want." He smiled walking back to his post.
"Thank you! And send my regards to your family!" She replied, waiting quietly at the reception.
It has been almost half an hour but the rain continued to pour heavily. I was conflicted whether to continue to wait or risk getting herself wet while hoping to catch a cab before it gets even later. I was debating with herself and did not realize someone was walking towards me.
"I thought I already received your resignation letter, what are you still doing in my building?" I looked up to see my ex-boss, Mr Smith with a flat face.
"I'm sorry I was just taking shelter only until the rain subside, sir. I couldn't find any cab in the pouring rain." She replied timidly.
"Let's go. I'll send you home." He said lightly and started walking a few steps and stopped noticing I was not moved.
"I won't repeat myself. You should know better." He looked straight to her puzzled face and they started walking to the entrance. He held me closer to him and held out his coat to cover both of us as we quickly get into his car. He opened the door and i went in looking in awe at the custom black leather interior. I felt a sudden guilt as i realized that my dress was drenched from running under the rain previously. He sat on the driver's seat and looked at me confusedly.
"Lean back. You don't have to sit that awkwardly." He stated.
"I'm sorry, my dress is drenched from the rain while running to the building just now. I don't want to ruin the leather seat." I said sheepishly.
"Stop apologizing and lean back. It's just a seat." He gently pushed her to lean comfortably on the seat........
Hey 😊 lovesssssss... remember Kylie left the Smith's company to pursue her own recipe company, while studying per-time got her Msc... Kylie now works with calra and they are doing just fine, but now that Mr Smith is back into the picture, do you think he will tell Kylie about his feelings or just move on like nothing happened.
