Chapter 15.
Gabriella.
"Gabriella come on, you're taking forever!" Martin yells for the umpteenth time but I ignore him again, still trying to round up with my makeup.
He was the one who said I should look pretty so he better deal with the consequences.
"I'm coming in!" I heard him holler but I'm quick to lock the door so he can't get in, hopefully I can frustrate him enough till he changes his mind about taking me with him. My head doesn't think straight when too many people are around and I'm nervous as it is.
"Gabriella, you forgot that this is my house and I have the spare key to your room," he reminds me and I hiss.
"You also forget that you're such a messy animal, it'd take you hours to actually find them," I replied and he shut up, finally giving up on trying to intimidate me.
I peep through the door to see a distraught Martin furiously typing away on his phone.
"Who are you chatting with?" I asked as soon as I walked out but I didn't get a reply, instead Martin just stared back at me like he was staring at a stranger or something.
I felt a bit nervous because the look on Martin's face was a little scary and at the same time weird, since he was giving me the same look he usually gives Gabrielle.
"Is there something wrong Martin?" I asked nervously and he sighs.
"You look so much like her and I mean that in a good way though but I swear if I didn't just see you come out of there and I saw you outside, I'd think you were her. The sudden resemblance is actually scary," he tells me and that discourages me a little.
"Did I overdo it with the makeup? Should I change the dress? You chose it though but you know what, maybe I'll just change to casual jeans," I blurted out and turned around to go get changed but Martin quickly holds me back and stares at me like he wants to slap me.
"I'm not asking to change you fool. I'm only pointing out the fact that you look like your sister which is not an insult, it's an observation. You really look beautiful and I must say, if Gabrielle hadn't suddenly lost her mind and gotten all weird, I'd say she'd be jealous but unfortunately, she's in a phase but I can assure you, it's temporary," he explained and I rolled my eyes.
"Can we go now?" I questioned boredly, picking up my purse and we immediately headed out.
~~~
The first thing that caught my attention immediately as we walked in, were the two girls in front who were pretty busy sucking their faces off like hungry beasts. I get that dudes are shameless but girls, get a room!
Then after moving past them, it all started to sink in, the music, the smoke, the annoying lights that make me dizzy, the image of girls dressed in seductive outfits, swaying their bodies to the music whilst a few are busy looking for an available one night stand, or someone to pin their pregnancy on.
This is why I hate going to a club. It makes me feel like a cheap whore, whose life is messy and sad and with this, I mean no offense to anyone, it's just my personal opinion.
"I still can't believe I agreed to this. How the hell did you convince me?" I hissed sharply at Martin who seemed less concerned about my ranting.
"This is why you're already an old lady at age 26, you just can't see the good in anything fun," he insulted and I'm fuming.
"Listen to me Deville, the next time you call me an old lady, I'm gonna kick your balls so hard and feed them to the worms. Do you understand?" I threatened, getting sick and tired of him calling me old.
He chuckled at my poor attempt to sound angry and we headed towards the bar since according to Martin, we need to get a drink before getting to business. He must really be delusional if he thinks I'm gonna sleep with some random guy.
We order for our drinks and Martin frowns when I order for a non alcoholic drink but chooses the better option of staying quiet which I was thankful for cause the guy really complains too much.
Almost immediately we start drinking and chatting, two blonde girls appear and start to admire Martin, practically ignoring the fact that I could be his girlfriend and the stupid idiot doesn't push them off. Instead, he flirts back and even goes as far as starting a random conversation with them. How rude of him!
After ten more minutes of feeling awkward, I clear my throat and they finally turn to me, Martin of course looking amused while the girls just scowl at me.
"You idiots interrupted a conversation with permission, so how about you both get lost!" I snapped at them, in an irritated tone and they both hissed at me and turned to him as if asking for his permission.
"She's the boss," he shrugged lightly and they both seductively pecked his cheeks before walking away but not before glaring daggers at me.
"You are the worst best friend a girl could ever ask for," I glared at him immediately and he laughed.
"Oh really? How cool cause you my dear, are the dumbest. You should have said those words as soon as they came along, not ten minutes after," he said and I huffed.
"Whatever,"
"Oh my god!" he suddenly gasps, scaring me for a minute and with his eyes fixed behind me, I'm tempted to look back but he stops me.
"Don't you dare! Just keep looking at me and listen carefully to me, Gabriella. If you let me down tonight, I swear I'll lock you out and I mean it!" he warned and with that he gets up, gulps down his drink and zooms off in the blink of an eye and I'm confused for a while but the minute I turn back and I see Liam and a much taller guy talking, I understand what he just did.
I stared away immediately, feeling a little nervous but something in me decided it'd be rude if I didn't approach him to say hello and I confidently strut towards him and his friend.
"Hey Liam." I greet calmly and he stares at me with raised eyebrows like he was trying to recall who I was. Well, that's just weird. So much for my confidence.
"Which one are you, Gabriella or Gabrielle?" he asks and I chuckle. Well that explains why he's staring at me like that. He thinks I'm Gabrielle.
"I'm Gabriella, Liam. I doubt Gabrielle would ever approach you," I replied and he smiled.
"Sorry about that. You just look so alike today, especially with the red lipstick but anyways, you look absolutely breathtaking," he comments and I blush awkwardly.
"It's really good to see you though, I've been thinking of calling you since yesterday but I didn't want you to think I'm weird and pushy since it's only been a day," he explains and I'm about to respond but his friend fakes a cough obviously to attract our attention cause I honestly forgot he was there.
"I can't help but feel like a third wheel but care to introduce us?" he asked calmly.
"Well, this is Gabriella, a friend of mine and Ella, this is Tyler, my big brother," he introduces me and I gasp.
"You're the famous Tyler Helton? Omg!" I squealed excitedly and mentally slapped myself for not recognising him immediately.
Tyler is your typical golden boy. He's a hot, rich and famous model and he's exactly what you'd call a total package.
"It's nice to meet you too Gabriella and I don't want to seem like a bother, so I'll leave you two to catch up. Have fun and once again, it was really nice to meet you," with that, he disappears too, and he also gives his brother the same look I'd gotten from Martin.
Liam and I grabbed a seat at the VIP spot, although I had first disagreed, he was able to convince me not to feel shy or bothered and we kept on chatting and asking each other personal questions and all that stuff people do when they're trying to get to know each other.
"By the way, how's the company doing? I hope I didn't cause too much trouble?" I asked slowly and although I am nervous, I need to know if I...well correction, if my sister caused any harm.
"Actually, Sandler took back his accusations. He said it was nothing but a misinterpretation and that you were innocent." He replies and I gasp.
"Really? He said that? Oh thank goodness then!" I exclaim, feeling rather relieved that my issues with my sister did not cost them their reputation.
"Mom wants to apologize to you and I also need to apologize for jumping into a quick decision but as you know, I was only following orders and there was absolutely nothing I could do to help." He explains and I immediately shrug it off.
"It's okay Liam, you don't have to feel guilty or anything. Fabian already told me you had a fight with your mom over her decision to fire me and I'm just thankful you believed me, that's what's important." I assured him, squeezing his palm a little and for a while, we both just kept staring at each other like we were both lost in each other's eyes.
His blue eyes are definitely the prettiest ones out there.
I'm quick to break eye contact when I suddenly start to feel way too drawn to him. I nervously gulp down half my drink when I realize he's still staring at me and his staring made me feel self conscious.
"Would you like to come work with us again?" He asks all of a sudden and I deadpan.
"I know you have every right to say no but I'd really love for you to come back. I know how talented you are and I don't think it's fair that you'll be blacklisted because of our mistake." He adds quickly and I clear my throat in discomfort.
"I'll think about it," I reply back nervously and he smiles.
"Thank you," he replies.
I'm about to ask him about the fashion show but I'm interrupted by two beautiful blonde girls but not the ones from earlier though, these girls were absolutely gorgeous and I felt insecure immediately.
"Hey babe," The taller one greets and plants a quick kiss on Liam's lips and I felt my heart sting a little.
"Layla? What are you doing here?" He asks and she chuckles.
"I'm here to see you sweetie. Why else would I be here?" She replies and before turning to and eyeing me up and down like she was analyzing me.
"Who is she?" She asks and I'm certain that she's not American. She has an accent and it's definitely French.
"She's a friend." He replies and I nod shyly earning a tight lipped smile from her.
Her friend who was still busy analyzing me finally speaks and she also has an accent.
"It's nice to meet you again Liam." She greeted in a weird way and Liam offered her a tight lipped smile. It seems he is also very uncomfortable with their presence. At least, I'm not the only one.
"Hy, I'm Leena. Nice to meet you." She says and smiles at me and I smile back. Well at least, she seems nice.
"Babe you haven't introduced us properly. Hi, I'm Layla, his girlfriend." She says possessively and my heart breaks.
This is why I never dream high, I always come down crashing.
"Nice to meet you, I'm Gabriella." I reply, getting ready to bolt out of here but she doesn't stop talking.
"Nice to meet you too Gaby, and just in case you're wondering, yes, we're sisters and yes, I'm that famous model you see everywhere." She rants and I almost roll my eyes.
She's obviously a bitch and I could tell by the way she stared at me that she didn't like me very much.
"Well, I'll leave you two alone. We'll talk later Liam." I say to them, smiling politely at both sisters before walking away.
My night definitely just got ruined. Thanks a lot Blondie.
