25. Meeting Her
That morning, London was enveloped in a thin mist that added a magical touch to the air. The sky outside Ha-neul’s bedroom window was a soft gray, with sunlight slowly trying to break through the thick clouds. This city, always bustling, had a unique silence in the morning, when only the sounds of birds and the footsteps of pedestrians echoed on the cobblestone streets.
Ha-neul stretched in her warm bed, feeling the gentle touch of sunlight sneaking through the curtains. Slowly, she opened her eyes, savoring the comfort of her soft mattress before reluctantly getting up. The cool morning air greeted her, stirring her spirit for the hopeful day ahead.
With light steps, Ha-neul headed to the bathroom. She looked in the mirror, seeing her reflection still slightly sleepy but filled with enthusiasm. The warm water flowing over her hands felt so refreshing, washing away the remnants of sleep. She brushed her soft hair, making sure every strand was neatly in place. Satisfied with her appearance, Ha-neul put on the outfit she had chosen the night before—a casual yet elegant ensemble, perfect for a beach meeting.
That morning, Ha-neul had an appointment to meet an important client at Brighton Beach. But before that, she needed to pick up Starla, who would accompany her throughout the day. Ha-neul cherished moments with Starla; they always had enjoyable and inspiring conversations.
Ha-neul stepped out of her flat, greeted by the fresh morning air and the scent of blooming flowers along the way. She got into her car and slowly drove towards Starla’s apartment. The streets were still quiet, with only a few cars and pedestrians in the distance, adding to the peaceful atmosphere.
Upon arriving in front of Starla’s apartment lobby, Ha-neul sent a short message to her, signaling that she had arrived. Shortly after, the lobby door opened, and Starla emerged with a bright smile that always warmed Ha-neul’s heart. Starla waved and walked towards the car with quick yet graceful steps. They greeted each other enthusiastically, starting the day with positive energy.
“Good morning, Starla! Are you ready for our little adventure?” Ha-neul greeted cheerfully as she opened the car door for Starla.
“Absolutely, Ha-neul. I can’t wait to see the sea and feel the breeze,” Starla replied with a wide smile.
The drive to Brighton was filled with laughter and warm conversations. The two friends enjoyed every moment together, sharing stories and future plans. The view outside the car window changed from London’s old buildings to lush green countryside, signaling they were getting closer to their destination.
“So, what exactly is this meeting about?” Starla asked, her eyes sparkling with curiosity.
“It’s a project for a music video shoot. They want a fresh, creative perspective, and I’m hoping my ideas will impress them,” Ha-neul replied excitedly.
Starla beamed with pride, her eyes shining. “I’m sure they’ll be impressed with your ideas, Ha-neul. You always have a way of making something extraordinary out of simple things.”
Ha-neul nodded, a soft smile on her lips. “Thank you, Starla. Your support always means a lot to me. This project is really important, and I want to give it my best.”
Starla looked at Ha-neul with affection. “I know you can do it. You have incredible talent, and your hard work will surely pay off. You have an amazing vision, and I believe you will achieve everything you dream of.”
Brighton Beach finally came into view, with its stretch of white sand and waves crashing at the shore. Ha-neul and Starla stepped out of the car, feeling the fine sand beneath their feet. The salty sea air refreshed their senses, providing a peace that was hard to find amidst the city’s hustle and bustle.
“Isn’t this beautiful? I always find the sea so calming,” Starla said, gazing at the rolling waves.
“Yes, it’s absolutely stunning. And it’s the perfect place for inspiration,” Ha-neul agreed, nodding. “Every time I come to the beach, all my worries and stress just disappear.”
Starla smiled, inhaling the fresh salty air. “I feel the same way. Here, I can forget all my problems and just enjoy the moment. I wish I could come here more often.”
Ha-neul turned to Starla, a thin smile on her face. “Maybe we should make time for it. We’re so busy with city life that we forget to enjoy such beauty.”
They walked towards the beachside café where Ha-neul would meet her client. The reserved table was in a cozy corner, offering a perfect view of the blue sea. While waiting for her client to arrive, Ha-neul and Starla enjoyed warm coffee and watched the waves continuously crash, as if dancing to nature’s rhythm.
“Do you ever think about moving closer to the sea?” Starla asked, sipping her coffee.
“Sometimes,” Ha-neul replied. “There’s something magical about the sea. It always brings peace and clarity.”
Starla smiled. “I agree. Plus, it would be the perfect backdrop for your music video projects.”
“Maybe one day. For now, I’m just glad we get to spend moments like these together.” Ha-neul chuckled softly.
“Anyway, I need to go to the restroom for a bit,” Ha-neul said suddenly, breaking the comfortable silence. She stood up and started walking towards the back, leaving Starla lost in her thoughts.
Starla took a deep breath, enjoying the rare moments of togetherness she hadn’t had in a while. City life was so busy, and time seemed to fly by. But every time she went to places like this, all her worries and pressures seemed to disappear, replaced by calm and gratitude.
While waiting for Ha-neul to return, Starla stepped out of the café and closed her eyes. She felt the warmth of the sunlight touching her skin and listened to the soothing sounds of nature. A gentle breeze caressed her face, whispering the serenity she had longed for. In places like this, she always found new inspiration and strength to face life’s challenges. Here, she always felt alive.
Unfortunately, Starla couldn’t always go to this place. City life was so busy, with tight schedules and endless demands. But whenever she managed to find time to come here, it felt like all the burdens of her life were lifted. And now, being here with Ha-neul, a friend who was like a sister to her, made her very happy.
“Starla?” someone called from the side, breaking the silence. The voice wasn’t Ha-neul’s deep voice but a familiar female voice.
