Chapter 29
After a little while I awoke to a loud bang noise in the lower level of my house. I jumped and heard more banging coming from downstairs. I shook Aaron as he lay beside me. In a hushed voice “Aaron someone is downstairs,” I said.
He groggily jumped out of bed, “stay right here,” he said as he heard the banging too. He quickly put on a pair of shorts and slowly stepped into the hallway. I could see him glancing down the stairs and he must have grabbed his pistol, the light glinted off the metal from the gun.
I sat on the bed anxiously waiting and listening. I heard a scuffle and jumped up. The door slammed shut and Aaron yelled, “I’m going after him.”
I heard the door slam again, as a commotion could be heard on the front lawn. I ran down the stairs and looked out the window to see Aaron fighting with someone in the front yard.
My hands shook as I tried to call 911. The guy punched Aaron in the face and took off down the street. I ran outside to Aaron’s side as blood dripped from the corner of his mouth. I pulled him into my arms and held him. I wiped the blood from his lip with my shirt.
“Come on let’s get you inside,” I said as I helped him up. He shook his head as I helped him walk into the house.
“I’m sorry I should go after him,” he said as we walked into the house.
“No, just stay here,” I said as I locked the door and helped Aaron upstairs.
I lay awake until Aaron fell asleep. I crept back downstairs and made sure that all of the doors and windows were locked. I armed my security system and wondered why I had not armed it when we came in the house.
I armed it a second time to ensure it was on, and checked it by opening the door. I heard the distinctive beeps that will sound the alarm if you do not enter the code within 10 seconds. I shut the door and entered the code then armed it again. My heart raced as I walked up the stairs. I laid back down next to Aaron and sat awake wondering what I should do, why were all these things happening to me. It seemed as if Aaron was my savior each time. He had come to my rescue on multiple occasions.

I awoke in the morning to Aaron staring at me with a lost look in his eyes. I moved slightly and he just kept staring at me. I finally waved my hand in front of his face a little and he focused in on me.
“Oh sorry, I must have been zoning out,” he said and smiled.
“Okay,” I said but my heart was racing.

When I walked by the kitchen area the following Wednesday morning, I was recalling our fun on the countertop. My panties became very damp just thinking about it! I grabbed my purse and walked out the door. On the to drive to work I reminisced about how I felt the next morning with Aaron lying there beside me, and suddenly realized how much I had been missing having a man next to me all night. I enjoyed waking up in his arms in the morning, and then having a nice repeat of the previous night’s actions, but much softer and subtler. Later that day while we were sitting on the couch, I had made some popcorn and we were watching a movie. He started running his fingers up and down my bare thigh and sliding up my shorts until my back was pressed against the couch. He was ravishing me again. This new hunger for each other was sometimes more emotional than I could bear. The lust and desire were making me feel cravings for him throughout the days, sometimes making it hard to concentrate just by thinking about him. I found myself periodically daydreaming about him and our lovemaking.
I arrived at work and found a nearby parking spot. Grabbing my purse, I got out of the car and walked up to the building. I greeted the receptionist on the first floor before heading up to my office. Walking past all the drab cubes to my own colorful area, I walked by Jen, my assistant, and greeted her with a “Good morning.”
I walked into my office and set my purse in a drawer. I looked at my phone, which had a red-light blinking, indicating that I had voice mail. I listened to them all, answered e-mails, and did some other random tasks, and before I knew, it the morning had flown by, and it was nearing 11 o’clock. I heard a knock on my door, and I looked up to find Janelle standing in my doorway looking radiant in a pair of khakis and a peach colored, long sleeved button up blouse.
“Hi,” I said, smiling at her as she walked in and sat down across from my desk.
“Hey, how are you?” she asked as she settled into the chair.
“I’m good, how about yourself?” I said turning my full attention to her and away from my computer.
“I’m good,” she said smiling.
“I thought I should stop by and visit you and have a little girl talk,” she said grinning again.
“And what type of girl talk might this be? About your date with Vincent?” I asked with a laugh.
“Uh, huh,” she responded.
“OK, do tell, how did your date go?” I asked.
“It was great, we went to dinner on Saturday night, and he dropped me off at home with a super sweet kiss at the door,” she said. “Then on Sunday, he stopped by in the afternoon, and we went for a walk even though it was a bit chilly. It was a nice break, and we got to know each other some. Monday night he stopped by for dinner at my house, which I had made, and he loved it. Last night he made me dinner over at his place and we had a little more fun after we ate,” she said with a laugh and a wink.
“Oh, and how was the additional fun?” I asked with a grin.
“Oh, it was great,” she said grinning like a schoolgirl after her first kiss.
“Well, I’m glad to hear that,” I said.
“So how are things going with you?” she asked.
“Good! Aaron and I have been seeing each other more and more these days,” I said. “That’s good, do you think that things will become more serious,” she asked with obvious interest.
“Yeah, I think so, just not sure yet what will happen,” I said with a smile.
“I know that I care about him a lot and I want to see him more and more. I'm just not sure if I am ready to open up my heart again,” I said looking down at my desk.
“It takes time,” she said patting my hand, knowingly. After our friendship had fully developed, I told her about my husband’s tragic death.
“I know, it will just take time,” I said, acknowledging her.
“Have you told Aaron about your husband?” she asked, as she continued to keep her hand lying over mine. I could feel her soft skin lightly rubbing over my own, and I immediately felt a desire building within me, which I tried to dismiss as I was at work.
“No, I haven’t. I haven’t had the chance to sit down to talk about it and not sure I was ready yet,” I said.
“You will with time,” she said patting my hand again.
Janelle suddenly got up from the chair. “I need to get back to work,” she said.
“Thanks for stopping by,” I said, smiling as I walked around to the other side of the desk to give her a brief warm hug. Her warm body pressed against mine and I could feel her soft breasts against my chest.
“I will talk with you soon. We should go out sometime on a double date or something,” she said before heading towards the door.
“Yes, that would be fun. Make sure you stop by and say hi to Jen. Her and Eric have really been hitting it off,” I said, as she walked out the door.
“OK I will do that,” she said, waving goodbye. I waved back and walked around to my desk. I am reminding myself that I had better ask Jen later how things were going with her and Eric. I worked for a while longer before I decided it was time to grab something to eat.
I picked up my purse and walked out in search of Jen. When I neared her cubicle, I could hear her making dinner plans with Eric. After she said goodbye to him, I walked around to stand in the doorway. “Hi, you want to go grab something to eat?” I asked smiling at her. “Sure, where do you want to go?” she asked grinning back. “I don’t care. Want to try that new Chinese place that Steve was talking about the other day?” I asked. I had overheard him in the office telling someone about this new place up the road that had great food. “Yeah, that sounds good. You want me to drive? I know where it is. Eric and I went to dinner there one day last week,” she said smiling and blushing slightly. She seemed to be excited about her new relationship with Eric. “Yes, that’s fine, you can drive. Be a good break to get out of the office for a change instead of eating a candy bar on the go,” I said, as we walked out of her cube and towards the elevators’.
