Chapter 6

I know that I was driving excessively fast for the road that I was traveling. I saw the blue flashing lights through my rearview mirror and knew that the police officer had clocked me going way over the speed limit. I was always driving too fast, and it finally caught up with me. I reached into the passenger seat and into my purse to pull out my driver’s license and insurance card. I waited patiently, pondering how I was going to get out of this ticket. I loosened the top couple of buttons on my blouse to let my breasts show more. I glanced at the side mirror and noticed the police officer get out of his vehicle. He looked good in his uniform and sunglasses. He sauntered up to my car and leaned into the driver’s side window that I had just opened. It was a warm sunny day, perfect weather for a nice walk or a run by the lake.
“Good afternoon, Ma’am,” the officer stated with a smile as he glanced down at me, not even noticing my exposed breasts.
I glanced up at him with a smile, he looked vaguely familiar, “Good afternoon, Officer.”
He was very good-looking, tan and very fit with his muscles rippling beneath his uniform. I pictured him naked briefly as I noticed him glance down at my breasts. I leaned a little closer so that he could see better, and I could smell his musky scent; boy did he smell good! It was not exactly cologne, but some spicy scented deodorant; he had the same musky, rugged scent as the man from the night before. Good looking, fit, and tall, three things that I loved in a man.
“How can I help you?” I asked, leaning over a little bit more so that the officer could see a little more of what I was offering to him.
“I’m Officer Jansen, do you know why I pulled you over today,” he asked as he investigated my car. I handed him my license as I cleared my throat and he looked down at my face.
“I don’t know Officer Jansen, why did you pull me over?” I asked in a sweet, angelic voice.
“I pulled you over Miss Layley, because you were speeding,” he stated.
He took off his sunglasses to stare into my eyes and I noticed he had the most haunting green eyes. I could picture him making love to me as he held me tight and looked into my eyes. I immediately recognized his handsome face; he was the man from the night before, and the same man that had come when the man was killed in the parking garage.
“Where were you headed so fast,” he asked as he continued to stare into my eyes, registering the fact that he recognized me, but maintaining his stern professional attitude.
I stared back at him and stated with a smile, “I’m heading home for a little alone time.” I longed for his arms to be around me, embracing me again. I could feel a tingling in my stomach as arousal was beginning to take over. I felt a yearning like I had not felt in a long time, like I thought I would never feel again. I felt an immediate magnetism to this man, I felt he could draw me in and make me feel whole.
“Well, I will let you off with a warning, but be sure to slow down from now on,” he said with a smile handing me back my license.
Officer Jansen put on his sunglasses, tipped his hat, and headed back to his car. I rolled up the window and wait for him to signal that I could go. I was only a few blocks from my house when he pulled me over. He followed me part way down the road before turning, I waved at him through my rear window, and it looked as though he tipped his hat to me. I pulled into the driveway.
As I walked up to my house I felt a yearning inside of me, I wanted this man badly. Apprehensively I looked at the front door; a man had not been in my house since my late husband. Oh sure, my brother or father had stopped by for a visit, but a very honest to goodness man has not been in my house with me. I put the key in the door and unlocked it. For the remainder of the afternoon, I cleaned the house, read a book, and baked some chocolate chip cookies. My neighbor next door was a cute little old man that I liked to bake for; he was a widower and had lost his wife many years before, so occasionally, I would make him a batch of his favorite chocolate chip cookies and drop them off as a surprise. After boxing up the cookies, the house still smelled wonderful from baking, I relaxed on the couch with my book. It was just a romance novel about a lover and her adventures with a cowboy. My stomach growled indicating to me that it was dinnertime. What should I have, I really didn't feel like cooking, but I didn't feel like going out either.
Just as I walked into the kitchen to make something for dinner, I heard a sharp knock on the door. Wonder who that could be? I thought to myself as I headed over to the door. I peaked through the curtains of the window before heading to the door, there was a man on the steps. I glanced out the window near the door but could not see the person as they were standing over to far to one side of the door. I cautiously stepped to the door wondering who would come at a dinner time hour to my house without calling first. Maybe it was just someone who is lost. I saw a dark blue vehicle parked by the curb, and the car was unfamiliar to me.
