Viv POV
My heart is so broken. I have not been to work in three days. I have laid in the bed sinking into a deep depression. I cannot believe I let a man get to me the way he did. I should not have gotten myself involved with a wolf. I know better than this.
My phone is ringing. I reach for it. I look at the screen. It is Conrad. "Hello, Conrad," I say softly.
"Viv, I am worried about you. I thought you might want to work tonight. It would do you some good to get out of your apartment. You could just come in and sit with me if you like, you do not even have to work," Conrad says.
"Is he gone?" I ask Conrad.
Conrad takes a deep breath. "Yes, he is gone. It is safe for you to come back, and I do not think he will be back. I am so sorry Viv," Conrad says.
"I need a ride, can you send Tony to pick me up, please?" I ask Conrad.
"Yes, I will make sure Tony is there within the hour, okay," Conrad says.
"Thanks," I say.
I hang up the phone. I get out of the bed and walk into the bathroom. I have not showered or fixed my hair in days. I need to pull myself together. This is not like me. I do not miss work. I do not let myself go. Yet, here I am all bent out of shape over a damn wolf. Fuck him! I need to take care of myself.
I try to smile at myself in the mirror. The best revenge sweetie is to be beautiful and successful. Let's do this. I step into the shower and let the hot water run over my body. It feels so good.
I will not shed any more tears or be upset anymore over this. I will let this all go. I take a deep breath. I do not understand why those wolves are so afraid of witches. We are great!
I think what hurts the most is I thought he was going to continue seeing me. I think he thought he would too. Something changed his mind or someone between his hotel and the old town inn. It does not matter I am over it, at least I am going to be over it on my terms.
I go into the bedroom. I sit down on my bed and lotion my legs. I go to the closet. I pick out a short skirt and button-up top. I grab my heels from the bottom of the closet.
I lay out my clothes on the bed and then go back to the bathroom to dry and curl my hair. I apply my makeup. Damn Viv, you look good. I think this red lipstick will hide your broken heart. I go back to the bedroom and slip into my clothes.
I look at myself in the mirror. Oh, Viv, you can do so much better than Ozzy. You deserve better. I smile at myself. I refuse to be broken.
I grab my bag and cell phone. I go out of the apartment and lock the door. I go downstairs to wait on Tony to pick me up from work. I smile all the way down to meet him. Tonight is my night to shine.
I stand in front of my building waiting for Tony. A black sports car pulls up. That is not Tony. "Viv," a handsome devil hollers to me.
"Yes," I say. He flashes a big smile at me.
"Hey, Tony is a bit preoccupied. I am Travis your new barback and I am your chariot for the night," Travis says.
"Well, then, thanks for the ride," I say as I get into his car.
"Not a problem, I live in the apartments down the street and I can give you a ride anytime," Travis says.
"Thanks, I appreciate it. I never learned to drive. I know that seems odd but we live in a city, I can take a cab, why should I drive?" I explain to Travis.
I notice Travis looking me over. "It is my pleasure to be your chariot, Viv, anytime," Travis says.
Maybe this is what I needed, maybe Conrad thought this would cheer me up. Damn Conrad, you sent this sexy beast to pick me up, I wonder if you hired him to cheer me up. I do not think I need another barback.
"Can you bartend?" I ask Travis.
"Hell Yes, but Conrad said only you approve the bartenders," Travis.
"Correct, so tonight you are all mine, I hope you have your running shoes on because I am going to work your ass off," I say to him.
"I am looking forward to you working my ass off," Travis says.
He pulls up in front of the club to let me out. I get out of the car and go inside. Conrad and Tony are waiting for me.
"You do not look preoccupied at all Tony," I say to him.
"Nope, but we thought the eye candy would do you some good," Tony says laughing.
"He is cute, but can he tend the bar. I need a bartender," I snap at Conrad.
"Oh, Yes, he can bartend and he looks good doing it too," Conrad says.
Travis comes into the bar and joins the three of us talking. "Travis is going to work with me tonight, Tony I want you floating, and Conrad try to behave yourself," I say as I walk back to the bar to get ready for the night.
I can feel Travis watching me walk away. There you go get an eye full, sweetie. Travis joins me at the bar. I give him and Tony instructions to get ready. Tony still struggles but he works so hard for me. Travis is a star at getting everything ready. I am happy to have to help.
The night goes by quickly. I do not have to work as hard as I normally do since Travis is able to take a lot of the load off of me. I have to admit brushing against him and working in close quarters with him is hot. It keeps my mind off of Ozzy.
At closing, Travis takes over and closes everything down for me while I do my paperwork. Everything is perfect until I hear a familiar voice calling my name.
"Viv," Ozzy says softly. I look up to see him in the bar. Why in the fuck did Conrad let him in here.
The pain immediately resurfaces and tears begin to roll down my face.
"I have nothing to say to you, please leave," I say to him.
"I am sorry," Ozzy says.
Travis sees this exchange. Travis grabs Tony and the two of them come to my aide immediately.
"Viv, we need you now. There is something wrong in the back," Travis says.
Tony grabs my arms and leads me into the back. I can hear Travis and Ozzy in a heated discussion. It only lasts a few moments, but Travis comes to the back where I am waiting with Tony.
"He left," Travis says.
"Good," I say.
"Tony, can you finish up. I am going to take Viv home," Travis says.
"Sure, sure, I got this," Tony says.
I fall into Travis and he leads me out of the bar. "I am not trying to get under that skirt, I want you to know that. I only want to help," Travis says.
I look up at him. He is sincere. "Thank you," I say to him.
