CHAPTER 15
**Nadine’s First Life: Wedding**
Initially, she thought that Marcus was worried about her, and that’s the main reason for his visit. However, he has another agenda. He proposed to proceed with the wedding, and that’s why he brought his friends in order to witness it.
Nadine was stunned, but with the rumors going around like wildfire, it was only right to agree to his proposal. He spent a week sorting out the paperwork for their wedding. She knew he didn’t love her but she had no choice at the moment. With the union of their pack, the members of Midnight Pack would be at ease. Undoubtedly, the pack of White Pride was considered the strongest!
Everything happened so fast! He visited her to propose, and one week later, they got married! When the minister who officiated their wedding announced that she just became the wife of Marcus Caldwell, it felt so unreal!
Only a few has attended the wedding but she had something to be grateful for. His grandmother wasn’t present during the ceremony. The woman had always disliked her for being clingy to Marcus Caldwell. It was obvious that his grandmother wanted another woman to become Marcus’ wife!
After the wedding, they all went straight to the pack of White Pride because it was customary that the celebration would be held there. Besides, his grandmother was the one who oversee the celebration. However, the celebration was pure torment to Nadine, especially the first meal she shared with them as the future Luna of White Pride.
His grandmother insulted her several times as they were having a meal. At that moment, she wondered how she would survive in White Pride! Fortunately, from time to time, Jason would save her from the old woman’s insults. However, she resented Marcus for not defending her against his relative’s malicious comments. She couldn’t even complain since she was aware that it wasn’t a love match! He just felt responsible for her! Then, she made a mental note to talk to Marcus regarding the situation.
She pitied herself but for the sake of Kate who came with her to the White Pride, she pretended to be unaffected. She just smiled at Kate who took their photos, but suddenly, there was a commotion. Someone and she heard that it was his girlfriend! His grandmother immediately welcomed the newcomer like the woman has always been a part of their family! The old hag even kissed the newcomer’s forehead!
Then, Nadine was even more shocked when the newcomer sauntered toward her husband, and without warning, she kissed Marcus on the lips! Nadine saw red as she witnessed the scene before her eyes.
“Who is she?” She asked Marcus after the other woman let go of his mouth.
“Her name is Gabby,” he answered.
Nadine gasped as she recalled her phone conversation with Gabby! She studied the woman from head to toe but she had nothing to complain about Gabby’s beauty. She was perfect! The woman was beautiful and sexy and her small eyes looked cute.
“Hello Gabby, nice to meet you,” she lied because she actually wanted to scratch Gabby’s beautiful face. She felt insecure!
“The pleasure is mine, dear,” Gabby smiled but deep inside, she wanted to kill the woman who stole her man. If Marcus’s grandmother hadn’t informed her that Marcus and Nadine were getting married, she wouldn’t have known.
“Maybe you're hungry on the trip, just get some food from the table.” Nadine tried to be civil to the woman she had previously wanted to swallow whole.
“Hmmm, I think I might do that,” Gabby responded.
“Alright, everyone, let's toast for the newlywed couple, Marcus and Nadine!” Jason suddenly announced to every guest.
After the wine toasting, Jason approached her to congratulate her personally while Marcus simply had a light conversation with Gabby. She glared at both of them!
“Don't worry about Gabby. He ended his relationship with her for your sake,” Jason stated to assure Nadine.
“Oh really? Should I be happy to hear that?” Nadine asked Jason but he just laughed at her.
“Oh common, Nadine. Are you jealous? She’s not worth it,” Jason said.
“Jealous, my ass!”
“Well, if you say so, but I'm telling you that Marcus really likes you,” Jason assured Nadine.
“Why did you say that he wanted me?”
“I just know it, and he warned me not to take you away from him,” Jason said in a low voice that seemed to be a whisper.
Nadine leaned closer at Jason because she failed to hear every word that he said. However, he suddenly hugged her! She was startled at Jason’s action. “Let me go,” she asked him to let her go but he didn’t listen. Nadine panicked especially when she saw Marcus strolling toward them.
“Enough of your flirting, wife!” Marcus exclaimed and then he grabbed his wife’s hand and pushed Jason Reed away. “Jason, I already warned you! She’s mine!” Marcus screamed at Jason.
“Relax, Marcus. I am not going to take her away from you. I just comforted Nadine since you were busy with Gabby,” Jason explained but since he had no death wish, he immediately distance himself from the couple!
“What’s wrong with you, Marcus? You’re the one who has been kissing another woman on our wedding day!” She yelled at Marcus and then she forcefully take his hands off from her.
“She was the one who kissed me!”
“Oh really? If that’s the case, can you send her away? I don’t want to see her face today,” she challenged him but he just shook his head.
“I can’t do that, Nadine. She’s a guest. An important member of our family has invited her to attend my wedding,” he explained.
“And you didn’t complain about it? She’s your ex-girlfriend!”
“I know but she’s aware that she’s not my mate, Nadine. We are mates, so she already expected this to happen,” he explained.
“Whatever, Marcus, but I already told you that I don’t like her to sleep in your house tonight. Command someone to help her find a lodging nearby,” she ordered.
“Grandmother already prepared a room for Gabby, Nadine,” he replied.
Nadine rolled her eyes at Marcus because it seemed he wasn’t listening to her. So she walked away and sauntered angrily back to the main house. She went straight to the room they would use later for their wedding night. Then, she immediately changed her wedding gown into a casual outfit!
The white dress she has been wearing has been a hindrance in her movement earlier. She wished she could just wear some shorts and a comfortable tank top but it was her wedding day, and she was the future Luna of White Pride!
Nadine braided her long hair before going back to the reception area. She was almost there when she happened to see Gabby in the corridor. Her mood suddenly became foul upon seeing the other woman’s face.
“Do you think you’re prettier than me because he married you? Don’t be mistaken, Nadine. He married you to satisfy his father’s wishes. Sooner or later, he would divorce you, then we will get married,” Gabby claimed maliciously.
In response to Gabby’s claims, Nadine just raised her eyebrow. As Frederick’s only daughter, she would never back down from anyone! “You know what Gabby, I think Marcus really loves me,” she claimed.
“No, he didn’t! You seduced him, you bitch!” Gabby screamed and then she raised her hand to slap the woman who stole Marcus away from her grasp but she was able to restrain herself.
“Did you just call me a bitch? Oh wow, you probably don’t know what the words mean,” Nadine said and without warning, she slapped Gabby!
Gabby was so stunned to speak because she didn’t expect to receive a slap from her. Then, she proceeded to the reception area and completely ignored the screaming woman beside her. She smiled upon seeing her husband and without inhibition, she went to sit on his lap. Then, she kissed him! However, his grandmother wasn’t pleased and sneered at her.
“Marcus! You should control your wife!”
While listening to his grandmother’s rant, Nadine decided to do something else. She conquered his mouth in front of everyone else. She heard a few people sigh at her audacity but Marcus was fueled by responding to her kisses.
“Long live the newlyweds!”
The crowd chanted, and Nadine was glad. However, Marcus was furious at her. Then, he whispered into her.
“Why did you do that? It's embarrassing, Nadine! My grandmother saw it,” he whispered.
“So what? We are a married couple now,” Nadine reasoned out. “Hold on, don’t tell me there was something wrong with the way I kissed you. It’s not the case, right?”
Marcus tightened his lip as he studied Nadine’s behavior. He knew she was a spoiled brat but he didn’t expect to her worst side. Jealousy was written all her face! “I can’t really say that something was wrong with the kiss. Shall we go upstairs to try it again?”
“Why not? Shall we go now?” Nadine accepted the challenge. Like Marcus, she decided to enjoy her married life with the man despite the circumstances leading to their union. Besides, marrying him would happen sooner or later since they were mates!
