CHAPTER 19

**Nadine’s First Life: Haunted**
She haunted him even in his dream. His grandmother was devastated knowing that she was one of the reasons why the two of them were not happy together. His grandmother regretted what she did and blamed herself for Nadine's disappearance.
“Good morning sweetheart,” Marcus greeted the woman and he wasted no time and kissed her on the cheek and hugged her.
She wanted to shout at the man but she couldn’t because she was cornered. She forced herself to smile at the man even as she smoked her nose in anger. “Good morning too. So, why don't we eat first? Breakfast is ready, then perhaps, you will go back to where you came from after eating,” she told him.
“Sweetie, just relax okay?”
“Relax? How could I relax when you messed up everything?” se tried not to shout in anger and annoyance.
“I messed up everything? Are you sure? Just admit it that you still want me, Nadine!” Marcus was confident that Nadine still had a look at him, even if he was just a little bit okay there.
“Bite your tongue, Marcus. After we eat, we'll talk!” She warned him before leading the way to the breakfast nook.
Marcus took a deep breath as he followed Nadine. And because he was happy, Marcus whispered as he followed the woman. He’s never been this happy since she left him because when she was gone, he became reckless and went back to his old self.
At night, he would drive his car like he'd just stolen it from someone. He just didn't care anymore. For Marcus, there’s no point in living if he couldn’t feel alive. After she vanished like a bubble into thin air, he worked to death in order to escape from reality.
“My favorites. Did you cook these while thinking about me?” All the delicious home-cooked meal that he craved for a week were all on the table. He no longer waited for Nadine to serve him. He helped himself with the food, and his mother in-law couldn’t help but laugh at him.
“Aren't you allergic to eggs?” It was late when she realized her mistake. What would he think even though he still remembered the foods that were forbidden for Marcus. He confirmed in Marcus's eyes that it had indeed given a different meaning to his rebuke about his allergic reactions to eggs.
Marcus grabbed Nadine's hand and squeezed. “Thank you for reminding me sweetheart. I almost forgot,” Marcus replied with a smile.
“You should have a child as soon as possible,” Diana stated.
“Don’t worry, Mother. Nadine and I will see to it as soon as possible,” Marcus replied to Diana.

Apparently, the two have their own world. “Excuse me, Mr. Caldwell. Coffee or hot chocolate?”
“Hot chocolate, please.” Marcus replied.
While Marcus enjoyed the meal, Nadine forced herself to swallow her food.
After breakfast, Nadine excused herself but Marcus has been following her wherever she would go. As they go upstairs to pick up her bag, he reminded her what happened on their wedding day! She blushed as vivid images of her memory flashed before her eyes.
“Do you really not want me anymore? Not the slightest chance?” Marcus asked Nadine.
She took a deep breath and looked the man in the eye. “If I tell you there's really nothing left, as in zero chance, will you stop chasing me? Let's end our relationship, Marcus. I don't want to see you again,” she mustered the courage not to cry in front of him.
“I'm sorry. I'm really sorry. But won't your decision really change?” His eyes begged the woman to take back the last thing he said because it was painful for him. God, what would he? It would be inappropriate for him to force the woman to accept him again.
“I think it would be better for the two of us if we just separated forever. I'm already happy being away from you. Our union was a mistake. Let’s just stay as friends.” She was not honest with herself. Something different came out of her mouth than what she truly felt. As she shooed the man away, she secretly hoped it would not leave.
“Fine, but can I ask for something? I want a gift,” he could think of no other way to make the woman feel that he was serious about his desire for the two of them to get back together.
“A gift? I don’t understand you,” Nadine replied but she thought that Marcus was really impossible. The man already has all his wealth, then why would he ask for a gift? “How much do you want?”
Marcus was insulted by the woman's question. “I don’t want your money, Nadine,” he answered.
“Then, what do you want?”
“Let me make love to you, for the last time. I promise, I won't bother you anymore.”
“And what do you think of me? Drag girl? Marcus, you very rude man!” Nadine was angry at the man's proposal. After all, they are still married in the eyes of the Moon Goddess and the law. “Okay, as long as you don't get me pregnant, it's hard to take care of a child.” It was all too late when he realized it was wrong that she consented.
In Marcus's mind, the woman probably wouldn't have just agreed if she didn’t love him anymore. Now, all he must do was to seduce her big time and to make her remember that they're a match made in heaven. He would make her realize that he's the only man for her and nobody else! “Promise, I won't make you pregnant.” He promised but he wasn’t God who could prevent something that was destined to happen!
Marcus stood up and approached Nadine's seat. Without wasting any time, he kissed her forehead. Down slowly to his nose and cheeks until he reached the woman's lips. He kissed it. Strong. Nadine sighed. Then he carried the woman up to the top.
“Let's go to your bedroom,” he said to the woman as he continued to kiss her.
