Chapter 29
**Elise**
*Unacceptable. Absolutely unacceptable,* I think. My eyes still on the spot where my pack members last stood standing. My blood still simmering at what I heard during our first initial pack meeting to welcome our newest members of the Dark Moon pack.
The nerve of them. Father won’t be happy about this once I tell him what happened here.
Shaun, Ian and Iris each leaving along with their mates. Deciding on doing damage control but more importantly to give me the space I needed in order to calm down. Ashton still close.
*‘Mate’* purrs Elza. Elza clearly calm while I on the other hand wasn’t.
Ashton soon moving to wrap his arm around my waist. His warm strong arms gently pulling me against him as I move to sigh softly. The tension I was feeling slowly leaving my body all thanks to him and our newly mated bond.
“Easy little mate. Everything will be fine. I promise you. As future Luna of your pack I will always be by your side. To be your rock when times get tough.”
Ashton’s words slowly reaching my ears as I move to spin slowly within his arms. My blue eyes quick to greet those of hazel. Eyes that I’ve magically fallen in love with during a short time of me knowing him.
“I know. And I have no doubt that you will. It’s just…” sighing softly, I move to trail off. Suddenly unsure how to tell Ashton my thoughts.
“Just what?” questions Ashton. His voice curious but knows not to push.
“My father” I say. My body sagging against his in defeat.
“Your father?”
Nodding my head do I move to speak again. “Yes. Come I think it’s time you finally met my father. Properly this time. For he’s my sole reason for running our pack the way we do.”
Ashton simply nodding his head as he moves to let me lead us back towards the house. Neither of us speaking. My hand just holding his as we make the slow trek back and to where my father sat waiting for us.
~ 30 Minutes later ~
“Daddy! I’m back” I move to yell out once entering the house. My father slowly moving to exit a room that he had been in. His eyes soft as he moves to open his arms. A gesture that has me running for him as I move to wrap my arms around his waist. His arms moving to wrap themselves around my shoulders. His arms firm yet gentle as he continues to hold me much similar to how Ashton had done prior to our return.
Ashton still standing where he was. His eyes silently watching the scene before him. Not wanting to disturb the moment. Sebastian careful when speaking. His voice soft, but still loud enough for those to hear.
“What happened my little moon star?”
“Everything! Everything that shouldn’t have happened did.”
“I’m sorry, but I don’t understand sweetheart, what shouldn’t have happened?”
Huffing at the words do I move to pull away from him. His once bright blue eyes now a dull blue. A clear sign he was unhealthy. Elza growling at the reminder of what happened that day with the Rogue King.
“The entire pack. They literally scoffed at Ashton daddy. They literally said that I should have chosen Malik. That Malik would know how to handle the Rogue King.”
My father still silent even as I continued to rant. Ashton silent as well. Both males in which I cherished both standing before me as they stood listening to me as I vented out my feelings. My father waiting for me to be done before speaking.
“Sweetheart. I know things didn’t go the way you were hoping for, but you need to understand that there just scared, that’s all.”
“Scared?”
“Yes. There responding to you out of fear. Remember, the Rogue King is still large and in charge. Not to mention that Malik keeps trying to take over our pack.”
At the mention of Malik does Ashton move to speak. “Sorry for interrupting you sir, but who’s Malik? I don’t think I’ve heard of him during my time as Beta of the Midnight Pack nor have I seen him before.”
Sebastian’s gaze now on Ashton as he moves to speak again. “Malik is currently the leading Alpha of the Sky Pack. And he’s someone who wants nothing but power and won’t stop until he has it.”
At the mention of power does Ashton move to growl. “So in other words, he’s very similar to that of the Rogue King. All thirsty and no ounce of compassion right?”
Quick to nod my head do I move to speak before my father. A piece of me knowing that by saying this to Ashton would my father growl in rage as well. “Yes. But it’s not just Malik and the Rogue King we need to be cautious of but the Council as well. They absolutely refuse to help any of the 12 packs. Each of them too set in finding some magical white wolf that sparkles like moon dust to even care. Plus, Malik currently has my cousin Aria as his Delta.”
“Aria?”
“Aria Rees. Alex’s little sister.”
“Alex? You mean the Alpha whose in a wheelchair right? That Alex?”
Upon hearing the word wheelchair leave Ashton’s mouth do I instantly move to growl. Not clearly happy by the way Ashton said it. Quick to remind myself to relax. That Ashton didn’t know, and I had no right to growl.
My father clearly sensing the tension within the air as he moves to reply back to Ashton. His need to control the situation before I could snap or worse walk away was what made my father a great Alpha. A great Alpha that I hoped to achieve some day as well.
“Yes Ashton. That Alex. But he wasn’t always like that. No, he was once a very proud Alpha until he was attacked by Hunters. Their attack upon his pack is what caused him to be confined to a chair. His wolf momentarily in a state of stasis.”
Xavier now growling at the mention of Hunters. Ashton quick to remember that day at the ball and what Isaac had managed to tell him. That Kaylee’s pack had also been hit by Hunter’s. Her pack now gone and forced into living with a relative from Alex’s pack.
*‘They never learn do they. Always looking to kill off our kind but never their own’* snarls Xavier to Ashton, Xavier still angry that Hunters didn’t care about the lives or safety of werewolves a like.
*‘No they don’t. A lesson they’ll soon learn the hard way when the very creatures they seek to destroy turn around and hunt them in return’* replies Ashton to his wolf. Both fully invested in Sebastian as he continues.
“Please. How about we all move and sit within the family room and from there I’ll try to answer any and all questions that you might have about our pack. Sound fair to you Ashton?”
“Yea. Sounds fair to me, Sir.”
And with that said do the three of them all move to enter the family room. Ashton about to get the full family history and what it means to join that of the Dark Moon Pack.
*Author’s Note: Eek… I’m terribly sorry for my lack of updates with this book. I really am trying my best to update it, but my focus has been purely on Scentless Bonds and Our Forbidden Love including that of One Night Gone Wrong and because of that I forget to put time into this book as well. But fear not, I am trying to update more when I can. Any who, I do hope everyone enjoyed this chapter and I’ll be back soon with more updates when I can. Bye.*
