29.

Finally, going home. To a bigger bed, to my future wife, to my family. Nikki and Charles are here to pick me up, they are packing my things while I sign my discharge papers.

"Well, Mr Forsythe, if you feel any pain, you don't understand, or you feel something is wrong, don't hesitate to call," Doctor Khumalo says.

"Thank you, Doctor," I reply, and he leaves the room.

I look over at Nikki, and she's already smiling at me. She comes to me and wraps her arms around my shoulders.

"Ready to go home?"

I smile, "You know it, baby, can't wait for some tasty food."

Nikki giggles and kisses my lips gently.

"Come on, you two, let's get going. You know how your father doesn't like it when you're late," Charles says as he picks up my bag.

I chuckle, the joke still lives.

We walk out of the room and make our way out of the building, Damien is said to be waiting for us, in the basement parking lot, so that we avoid the paparazzi. We get to the parking lot and Damien is standing outside the car, looking at the door. His face lights up when he sees us.

"Look who it is, the man of the hour," Damien greets, we share a hug, and I can feel his body relax, as though he'd been waiting for this moment for a long time.

"It's good to see you, Damien," I mumble into his shoulder.

"Me too man," he replies, "I am so sorry for what happened. I should have been more careful."

We pulled up apart, and I looked him in the eyes, "Damien all is forgiven, you were protecting us, that is your job, and I don't hate you."

Damien sniffs, "Now you're going to make me cry."

I chuckle, "I don't blame you; crying is good for you. Trust me."

We got into the car, and we drove home.

After seeing my mother yesterday, a lot of the emotions that I had held back regarding the situation came back, and I spent the entire night just thinking about what my mother had gone through while she was here. Not being able to see me, hold me, and watch me grow up. I think of the endless possibilities of how I could have turned out, a better man.

Another thing was, why would my father lie, why not just tell me the truth about what happened? Was he that ashamed of my mother, or was he ashamed of what he had done or what he was doing?

"Babe, get out of your head for a minute?" I hear Nikki whisper.

I turn my head to look at her and I sigh, "I'm sorry, babe. What do you need?"

"Well, she was just wondering if you'd like to give her some good love in the back-seat," I rolled my eyes and Charles and Damien laughed.

"Good, I missed picking on you." Charles laughs.

I chuckle, "Of course you did."

"And no, I've been told to not get some lovin' or I might rip my stitches."

Charles laughs, "I doubt that will stop you."

I laugh, "You got that damn right."

Nikki laughs beside me, "We'll see about that baby. I am excited to have you back home. Charles has been good company but I'm struggling with the whole getting investors to stay thing."

I sigh, I knew after the whole Aiden fiasco, things would get messy, with PR, investors, and workers.
"I'm back baby and we'll fix everything together, okay?"

She nods, "Thank you."

I kiss the side of her head and she places it on my shoulder. I lean my head back and close my eyes, I was starting to feel a little dizzy from the meds they gave. I fight to stay awake but the urge to sleep is too strong.

"Babe?"

I moan, "Five more minutes."

"James, get your lazy ass up or I'm burning your jimmy choo bag."

And that's enough to wake me up, "Charles you ass!"

"Never mess with a man and his purse."

I grumble, "It's not a purse, it's a -

"It's a purse babe, I've seen it," Nikki replies trying not to laugh.

"I am alone in this world," I say to myself.

Damien opens my door and smiles, "You've got me, son, don't worry."

I roll my eyes and slowly get out of the car; I look up and smile. Home sweet home. I couldn't wait to eat some food and sleep. The front door opens and out walks Nikki's mom and mine. I walk up to them and give them both a hug and a kiss.

"Oh, my baby boy, I'm so happy to see you." my mother cries, "You're finally home."

"Me too mom, I've missed you, both of you," I reply, my mom more than Nikki's though.

"Let's get you inside and fed, we cooked up a feast, so we don't want it getting cold," Nikki's mom says and they usher me into the house.

It felt so good to be home with my mother and family. I walk into the house and a woman is setting the table, she had short blonde hair, green eyes, she was thick and curvy, wearing a pair of torn black jeans and an ACDC t-shirt, she turns to look at me and smile.

"Xander," she screams and runs towards me and wraps her arms around me.

"Jessica, get off him, you're going to hurt your brother," my mother scolds.

Jessica pulls away from me and apologizes.

So that's my little sister.
