“Baby, if you keep eating that batter, we won’t have any dessert for our guests,” I scold.
Xander frowns and pushes the batter bowl towards me. I place the batter into star containers and put them in the oven to bake. We were supposed to have ice cream, but we had it the other night, so we decided to make a chocolate cake with custard.
Xander and I go upstairs to shower and change into some fresh clothes. I pick out a pastel pink maxi dress and some earrings. My stomach was starting to show, I was in my second trimester, and I couldn’t wait to hold my baby. Our next appointment was the day before our traditional wedding, and I couldn’t wait to find out the gender of the baby.
Xander stands next to me and kisses my cheek.
“You look gorgeous baby,”
I blush, np matter how many times he said that to me, I will always have the same reaction. He made me feel all warm and fuzzy inside and I couldn’t wait to officiate our union.
“Are you ready for dinner?”
He sighs, “I’m nervous and I don’t know why.”
I chuckle, “I am too but let’s be supportive friends.”
He nods, “I will support them, but I just think it’s risky. Three people in one relationship and what if Charles isn’t into it?”
“What if he has already tried it and he loves it?”
Xander looks at me with wide eyes, “Oh gosh, I –
“Charles could be bisexual now.”
Xander shakes his head, “It’ll be an adjustment for me.”
“Charles is allowed to make his choices and you have to support him. When you were making bad decisions, I’m sure he was there too, and he didn’t judge you.”
“He judged me, a lot,”
I laugh, “As best friends should but they mean well. So be supportive and show him and his partners some love and respect okay?”
Xander nods, “How are you so calm and understanding?”
“Because if one of us isn’t, then we can’t be there for each other like we should.”
He stands in front of me and smiles, the sparkle in his eye, every time he looks at me is confirmation that this man is in love with me.
“The rib of my rib, bone of my bone. You are godsent,”
We share a tender kiss and we whisper “I love you” to each other. He goes down and kisses my stomach.
“Let’s go and get those drinks ready, you know how Charles loves his cocktails before dinner,”
I laugh and we go downstairs. I sit in the kitchen and watch Xander make cocktails for everyone except me, he makes me a mocktail and boy does he look good doing it. Wetness pools in my panties and I try my best to keep calm, but Xander seems to have a sixth sense about my arousal.
He gives me a sly smirk and a wink, and he pours my mocktail and slides it to me.
“One delicious mocktail for a delicious woman,” his voice is deeper when he says that and my pussy throbs.
Curse these pregnancy hormones.
There is a knock at the door, and I hear it open, and I know that Charles and the gang are here.
“Hello,” Charles sings.
Xander and I looks at each other and laugh.
“We are in the kitchen,” I call out.
Charles makes an appearance and smiles when he sees me.
“Oh my gosh, look at you, you are glowing and you’ve gotten bigger,”
I laugh and stand to give him a hug, “Hello to you too Danté,”
Damien and Chantel walk in, holding hands and I give Xander a look and he just shrugs.
“Hey guys, welcome,” Xander greets and gives everyone a cocktail.
There is a brief moment of silence.
“Okay, you have questions but let’s eat first,” Charles says, “You’ll process it better once you’re well fed and somewhat sober.”
I let out a sigh and nod, “Alright, please help Xander set the table Damien and Charles, the last time he did it, he broke a glass.”
I say and give Xander a wink, I take Chantel’s hand and drag her to the living room. We sit down on the couch, and I finish the rest of my mocktail.
“Start talking,”
“Well, we talked things through, and we found a way forward. I cant say anything more because Charles said he would explain everything to you guys,” she explains, “It’s better that way.”
She looked happy and whatever arrangement they have now, seems to be happy and I didn’t want to get in the way of that.
“You look happy,”
She smiles, “For the first time in a while, I am happy.”
“Come here,”
We shift towards each other and hug.
“I’m so happy to see you. I missed you so much,” she sobs.
Her crying makes me cry, “Me too bitch.”
We both laugh and she gives me a kiss on the cheek.
“You need to catch me up on how the lobola plans are going because I –
My phone rings and answer.
“Hello, Nikki Abrahams,”
‘Miss Abrahams, sorry to call you at such an odd time. I’m from the Sun City Correctional Office.’ The lady says.
“Yes, how can I help you?”
‘We just wanted to inform you that Mr van Rensburg has passed away.’
“What do you mean? What happened?”
‘He was stabbed by another inmate during an altercation, and he succumbed to his wounds after being hospitalized for a few hours,’
“Nikki, what’s wrong?” Chantel asks worriedly.
‘I’m so sorry ma’am. The inmate has been charged and the body has been sent to the morgue and his family has been notified. Have a good evening,’
And she hangs up the call.
Chantel gets up to call Xander and everyone rushes to the living room.
“Baby, what’s wrong? Speak to me,”
“He’s dead,”
Xander looks at me confused, “Who’s dead baby? Look at me.”
He turns my head to look at him and I swallow the dry lump in my throat.
“Aiden, he’s dead.”
